(Answered) Pod-mounting Armored Motive Systems
« on: 26 October 2023, 13:45:26 »
As it says on the tin, I would like confirmation on whether or not Armored Motive Systems can be pod mounted.

Tacops AUE does not specify whether it can or not in either the gameplay rules or construction rules (page 94/95).

The ArMS is described as being "like armored components but for vehicle motive systems" and Armored Components explicitly state that the "armored" status of fixed equipment cannot be changed, and you can only armor pod-mounted equipment.

Having said that, I could also see an argument for motive armoring being something like skirts on a tank tread, which seem like they would be trivially easy to "pod mount".

As far as I can tell there are no canon omnivehicles that use an Armored Motive System for me to reference as precedent. In my case, I picked up a Schiltron tank and I want to armor it's squishy wheels.

Not sure why it didn't come up when I did my search earlier, but I see that this was asked previously in this thread: https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,80621.0.html

This one can be closed.
