Whoever played the IS side of that really took one for the team. I'm not sure how the clanners coped with only a 4 to 1 BV advantage.

You have to love random tables. We will be alternating sides over the course of things, opposing each other directly on Touch Points. So after this next one we'll be going with the IS as the mission taker...besides since when is Battletech about balance, honestly...and it is the early Clan Invasion period anyways.

We did a claninvasion match last week but we did two lances on 3 clan mechs so stay somewhat balanced.  CLan pilots were 3/4 3/3 and 2/3 (that was a masakari.... that thing was brutal.)  The inner sphere pilots were 4/5 cept for one 3/4 on each lance.  Battle felt pretty even.  Right now teh place we are playing closes so early we cant finish games (we are trying to find an alternative).  Lost a griffin early to an ammo explosion fro a shot from the masakari but with the two lances focusing fire the masakari had taken a good deal of damage.

We've done a couple of battles that were more balanced, a 4 mapsheet Heavy Star vs IS Company (equal BV)...Star got wasted; then we ran the Cities and Roads mission with a Recon Star vs 2 IS Lances (equal BV)...Star took it in the end but all the Clan Mechs were damaged severely.

Now we are working to capture the original Invasion feel.

I know it is. There really are no game stores north of Dark Side Comics and Games until you reach the Tampa area.

One of the players works at the Dark Side, while I live in Port Charlotte even further south yet work in Sarasota.

I've lurked on the current Tampa player thread, and I think it'd be cool if we got all of us together at some point for a "serious" event, as in we get together for a major game of BT.

Ya'll are always welcome to come join us, Dark Side is not that far off I-75 off exit 210. Message me if you're interested.

Turns 1 and 2 saw 80% of the Pirate Force focus fire on the Star Captain's Timber Wolf, even after his broadcast Batchall
Turn 2 saw Star Captain Aaron Clees bring dishonor to his Codex as he fired everything into the Warhammer in an attempt to end his battle quickly, overheated his mech, caused an ammo explosion and knocked himself unconscious. During Turn 3, 4 Pirate mechs converged on the immobile mech and pounded it until its engine gave way and was rendered inopperable.
Turn 7 saw the Jade Falcons abandon Zellbringen against these foes as they focus fired on the Pirate Warhammer and cored it.

Mechwarrior Joseph died following 2 head hits, an ammo explosion and failure to execute an ejection.

Aaron Clees will fight a Trial of Position once active combat operations on Lackhove end to attempt to remain in command. Regardless his Codex will reflect his poor actions and he is considered Dezgra. (Somebody will not be contributing to the gene pool anytime soon)

Interesting outcome.  I remember playing against clanners bound by zell awhile ago.  If you are smart it can work against them rather badly. 

Question, with the warpoint paths it only applies to one player right?  Opfor never gets their own points or track in the campaign correct?  I'd prefer to play fedcom.  8)

We are 2 players, I'm playing Clan Jade Falcon...the other is playing an IS Merc Company.

So we are running 2 parallel tracks, with us occasionally meeting in Touchpoints. So we each have our own force to use, while the other runs the random op force.

Zell can be a big pain...especially when the unknowing IS forces in their first encounter focus on your heaviest mech and maneuver so that Zell hinders you...but hey its all fun.

I felt justified in breaking Zell after so long against these PerifRats after being kicked, punched, having 10 mechs fire on 1 for multiple rounds (I only had 3 fire on the Warhammer...)

We discussed the difference between the Era Report 3052 Starting WP of 100 vs the Chaos Campaign at 1000. We feel that the intent of the lower WP start is to force it as a more "gritty" campaign and to keep real danger.

As we have progressed we've noticed that things really play as if they are stacked much more in favor of Clan forces (correct as per the period), which makes IS Campaigns be more of a "Grinder" or "See How Long You Can Last".

Therefore we have adjusted our totals to keep this in mind.

Last night we had 2 newer players joining to help out on the OpForce. It was a little slow going, but a good learning experience as they were picking things up quickly. I look forward to them joining the Brave Companions Mercenaries in the future.

You may notice that a couple missions were skipped over; yes, we did gloss over the followups as they were essentially foregone conclusions. No WP were costed or gained from them as we progressed the campaign.

Alright, so another pilot is being replaced from the "Death Trap" Mad Dog...a new mech is being reassigned to this unit since no one wants to Trial for the old mech. Also a Warhawk is being assigned to the unit, and Star Captain Eric Helmer is going to be facing a Trial of Position from Star Commander Aaron Clees for his repeated incompetence and perceived acts of cowardice. If the Star Commander assumes command then Lisa Folkner will under go a Trial of Position for command of the Beak Star.

So this Clan force's internal structure could be changing shortly.

Next Mission will be our first Touchpoint. Neither player will pay the cost of the mission, but the winner will add the Warchest Points to their total, without any need for resupply; we will be playing the Trell I mission.

This was by far the closest game of our campaign, and one of our best. The Jade Falcon forces never broke zel and the Inner Sphere player worked for his objective and managed to escape and cause quite a bit of damage to the rear of the Warhawk, one Timber Wolf, one Mad Dog and destroyed the other Mad Dog.

Remember in 3050 all of the Omnimechs were pretty ubiquitous across the various Clans. Simply as an Heavy (Talon) Star, it was possible even with the random RATs in Era Report 3052. Regarding those Mechs, even still the Primes are by far the best suited for that particular scenario; sure it would have been nice to throw the Summoners into that fight...maybe next time.

Oh, I know it's possible.  Every clan has some Timber Wolves, Mad Dogs and at least one Warhawk.  I once compiled stats on all the frontline invading 'mechs for Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon from their respective source books.  I can't find my Jade Falcon stats, but here are the Wolf stats:

I believe the stats were simlar amongst Jade Falcons in that their Touman was mostly Summoners, Hellbringers, Kit Foxes and a light smattering of everything else.
