Megamek Games not saving correctly 0.49.12
« on: 23 April 2023, 10:04:25 »
Using the 0.49.12 version of MekHQ/MM
Eclipse Temurin JDK with Hotspot 17.0.6 (x64)

Whenever I save a game mid play. The file is saved and its around 20Kb in size. Using the Load Saved Game button in MekHQ. The file loads as starting the battle in the lobby, as if its starting from the beginning.

I have this issue on two separate machines, with identical software versions, as above.

Both the autosave and files I save are like this.

Is anyone else having this problems. Both MekHQ and Eclipse have been reinstalled to no joy.

We'd need to see log files and the file in question.

Here are the log files etc.

I have started a test campaign for these logs. This is to rule out my custom units and settings. Same problem with loading saves.

Our Java 17 support is new and one of the issues we are getting is it's not writing saves under certain circumstances correctly. This is turn prevents there loading.

This looks like the root cause. If you're running campaigns we recommend sticking with Java 11 for better support.

I've opened a issue for this - https://github.com/MegaMek/megamek/issues/4354

But I don't have a good fix or workaround at this time.

That's fine.

Some testing was needed on 17 anyway. So no biggie.

I do not have the issue you are describing but I also have issues with saves.
Also some 49 build or other.   Also Java 17.
In my case, I am fairly certain the issue involves player units fleeing the battle.
Game plays normally after that, but if you try to save and restore, the game Always (?) hangs at the end of the turn, meaning the savegame is useless.

We'd need to know which version specifically. If you jump on our Discord we can try and help faster then the forums. Link in my sig.

(Realizing that I do know where to look for the version number)

It's 49.15

Discord really isn't an option for me, but thank you anyway.
