Apparently HG USA is teaming up with SMG to make a new Robotech RPG after the nuclear failure that was the Palladium Tactics game.

THE ROBOTECH PANEL
Thursday July 19, 2018 @ 8:30pm - 9:30pm
Room 24ABC
Harmony Gold USA presents the latest developments in the Robotech universe, from awesome new products to the live action film in the works at Sony Pictures with the producers of 300 and the director of Stephen King's “It.” Special guests include Titan Comics, Solar Flare Games and Strange Machine Games, and more!
Granted, it's still early as hell for the film to make any predictions, but I suppose Sony's pushing ahead with it. Wonder if they have a script yet. I'd also really be curious to see how the new RPG is set up, apparently the guys who run RobotechX are involved in the writing. Supposedly there's a No Miniatures At All demand in place for the game, presumably after the Tactics debacle.
Going to their facebook page, by the way, I found this linked:
http://forums.strangemachinegames.com/forums/forum/smg-roleplaying-games/robotech-the-macross-saga-roleplaying-game/which has signups for people wanting to get involved in testing the game. I'm assuming on face value it's legit, but we'll see. Now I need to find out who went to the panel and how it turned out, what all announcements were made.
Also: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD don't bring up the lawsuit in here. This isn't for that, this is just for info on the new game. That's a tender subject for a lot of people and a giant ball of gasoline waiting for a flame war.
EDIT: And 45 minutes ago, they just announced that Netflix is running all Robotech episodes.
