This isn't the first time forum archives have vanished. We got through it before, we'll get through it now.

The archive was always marked as temporary and could go away at any time. Anyone who wanted to pull stuff off of it has had 9 months to do so and if they haven't, then it's their own fault. It's (somewhat) sad that those posts were lost, but if they were important, the info will be reposted by somewhere by someone.

Whoever is responsible for the website to step up and apologize for not giving notice that maintenance was going to be done.

Oh, sure, no problem.
I apologize.

Paul
The solution is just ignore Paul.

And in Paul's defense, he did apologize for the inconvenience in his first response to me.

I'm noticing that characters with diacritics (like umlauts and tildes, for example) aren't displaying correctly in at least the topic titles...possibly even in the body of actual posts as well, but I haven't actually investigated it yet.

Will those types of characters ever be available again?

From upthread:
There is a fix for that on our end, but it would mean taking the site down for some time to run a script. It's not in our immediate plans to do this.

Basically, they work now (Ŝéĕ?) but any existing ones need to either be corrected by hand or lived with.

I wasn't aware that punctuation characters were lumped with characters using diacritics. Live and learn, I guess.

Well, not most punctuation characters per se. It's just so-called "smart" punctuation, like curly quotes and such. Like letters with diacritics, those can often get mangled when switching between character sets.

That url is no longer the valid one.  Use http://www.battletech.com/ for the main site and http://bg.battletech.com/ for the board game specific site.

Erm, the catalystgamelabs url is working fine for me.
Alas poor Photobucket. I knew him Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy.
