I wonder if the aerospace material in the Alpha Strike Companion will go as far as to cover WarShips?

That would be awesome, but don't see that happening.

My apologies!  I meant to refer to the release of official Alpha Strike cards for dropships and rules for space only battles.  Sorry for the confusion.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about the cards.

I am more than a little curious as to the decision making process that came to the conclusion that the time/ energy/ cost presumably involved in wha went into work that may not get used  was worth abandoning.  I am feeling a bit more comfortable with the way in which the Battletech property is being developed recently, but Catalyst still doesn't strike me as the kind of company that can afford to throw away a lot of resources. What is so dramatically different about the new direction that makes it worth all the lost resources?

Disclaimer: all of my assumptions are just that. Maybe it cost nothing to develop the IlClan idea and maybe Catalyst and everyone who works for/ is involved with the company has their homes insulated with bricks of hundreds for lack of anything better to do with the money.  I am just a curious guy.  I don't actually expect an answer, obviously, either. Just musing aloud.

It's on general release in DTF (I picked it up a month or two back), so I'm sure it was.

Sadly that does not mention the Ilclan.  I'd like to see the story finally get into open waters with CGL at the helm.

Whatever event is replacing the (if that's the case) IlClan book that we thought coming out, is properly underway being worked on.  Properly why its so quiet lately.

EDIT: I'm basing my what these "if" statements on what reps have told me from on and off the forums. I apologize if this sounds like someone trolling, I am not.  I apologize for confusing people.  There no statement that anything has happened, but nothing happens unless is posted on the main page or in general statement by Catalyst.  The IllClan thing was never announced officially as far I've known  "Coming Soon" etc, only mentioned in a BattleChat where it came from in first place.

They didn't. They just pointed out that as with all future events, the odds of ilClan getting published are not precisely 100%.

Here you have two original statements, so you can read them:
Hi,

Out of curiosity, what if The ilClan never happens?

Thanks,
Hi,

I've said nothing about The IlClan being "sundered". I merely said the future as I once teased it is no longer guaranteed to happen as stated. Please do not jump to extreme conclusions.

Thanks,
That's all.

Right, but he did NOT say it was cancelled, he said IF it was...see the bold, underlined, italicized, red wording below...

Hi,

My point is: Plans can change. There's actually quite a bit of material that has been written which may now never see the light of day.

Also part of my point: If The ilClan were canceled, that future you appear concerned with is gone with it, replaced with the same wide unknown all of us face day to day. If all you are concerned with is "the future", well, you can never really escape that. But if you're fearing a particular future, I'm suggesting that it may not be as certain as all that. Again, plans can change.

Thanks,

-

When "What if it gets canceled?" is the only news we're getting from anyone remotely official, it tends to engender feelings of concern.

True, but I like to think as it is such a good story line, they won't completely dismiss it. It may be delayed, it may be on a hidden agenda for a Con...the only people that would know are TPTB.

I for one hope it comes out, as well as MORE info on the Homeworld Clans.

One of the other statements Herb made on the above links from Wrangler (http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,39667.msg916784.html#msg916784) was the fact that "There is no longer any guarantee or promise whatsoever that we will ever see a 3250 era" (I'd just "quote" it but the thread has been disabled).

I for one am happy about this, because maybe...JUST MAYBE...they figured out that the whole ilClan thing can be worked over for years rather than one book & be done with it. Think of it kinda like the FedCom civil war...if one of the IS clans claimed to be ilClan...do you really think the homeworld clans would sit by & let that happen. Not a chance. This scenario makes me think that TPTB realized that this whole ilClan thing is MUCH deeper than 1 book and possibly took the "ilClan book" and tore it in to several different parts, making a collection of books that leads us through many years in game time...but a couple in real life. I'd be very happy with that but I won't get my hopes up for it.

Agree with you completely, if the IlClan thing is read deal, I think it really is bigger thing.   I wasn't worried about missing out snything if a timejump accrued in the first place.  We have Historicals that can fill in the gaps.  There maybe nothing really big happening or was happening between now and in distant future which could been jumping point for perhaps best time to be playing Battletech.   Unfortunately, it may not happen or we'll never know.

I just hope whatever is coming out will be good and keep us engrossed in this great franchise.  I just hope knee-jerking reactions don't derail things.

In mean time, I hope we'll see something new soon in month or so.

Oh for ******'s sake.

IlClan is my project. I was assigned it before Herb stepped away. I crafted the outline, I worked out the content with Herb. I assigned the writers, and so on.

IT. IS. STILL. COMING.

There's been no scrapping of writing, no changes to the format or content, no readjustment of canon. The ONLY thing that has changed is that it has been shuffled around the schedule and has been moved farther down due to other mitigating circumstances that none of you need concerning with. It's coming, just not now.

So PLEASE STOP with the 'woe is us' crap. Thank you.
