He designed the Ares Tripods.  And with that, he loves seeing how people paint it.   :)

Mine's not painted either.  Mainly because I have no idea where to start with how to paint the base.  If I ever figure that out, I'll know what base coat I have to use and from there I can pick which colors/torso I want to use for the mech.

I've got a thread going for my different builds.   http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,41423.0.html

Maybe an alpine look? Rocky outcrop topped by a bit of snow/ice? Maybe a non canon arctic camo paint job?  :)

It's not question of style of paint, it's mater of having no experience painting nature bases beyond painting sand green and calling it grass.   :P

As for the mech's config, if I base coat it white, it'll be Hera, Gray will be Hades, Aphrodite, or Hephaestus , and black would be Zeus.  Currently I've got all 6 torso's built.

Umm... these are huge.  How do you play with them on a hex based map?

The central hex of the base that comes with the ares is sized to fit a standard hex map.

Oh, I see.  So you just kinda ignore the three "leg hexes"

Exactly. I magneted my ares and didn't mark a rear hex so I could move the legs around if necessary. Should only be a problem if more than three adjacent hexes are occupied, and that doesn't happen often.

I bought the Malice at Gencon and thought it was lonely by itself.  So I painted an Ares to go with it.

You can see some of the black base coat in spots, I did that to represent some wear and tear in spots on the Ares

The spray Matte Finish came out really shiny.  I need to dull it a bit.
