Hockey Night In Noisiel
« on: 01 November 2023, 19:45:54 »
So I was writing something, doing some inane practice as I'm too short on time or too lazy to do something serious in my own language...then, wanting to close the youtube tab, I closed the whole browser. Evidently, all lost. I'm so pissed off, I had to get it out.

Yeah, sure, it wasn't great, but still, major bummer dude.

I'll give it another go soon...too frustrated for tonight and its getting late anyway.

Argh.

Place holder and vent, sorry for this outburst.

Perhaps it does, but unfortunately I am technologically re-tarded. Anyway it was rather bland. When you're using a character whom has Marc Messier's face in your mind and can't fit an "always fresh chip" reference, you're off to a bad start.

I'll simply take the opportunity to try and make it more entertaining once I get the motivation or mood. Which isn't tonight I suppose.

* the thing with writing a battletech hockey short is that once the "hello hockey fans" and starting sequence of "hockey night in Canada's" theme song has faded away from your mind, all that's left as of references is mediocre children's books, kid movies (many of them quite so-so), slapshot 1 and actual hockey. Oh well, an exercise is an exercise.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96OTz6_qTnE

"Hello hockey fans from across the Inner sphere and welcome back to playful ol' Noisiel for another exciting season as we kick off the exhibition phase with today's match between the Claybrooke Fusionneers and the New Olympia Anglers!" Marco Momesso took a chip out of its yellow bag and munched it happily as his co-host took over.
" As we recall, the offseason was quite the snore for the Fusionneers who decided to keep their roster untouched. Confident that, after their impressive run last season, this year could be the year to bring the cup home."

His mouth full of chips, Marco urged his partner on. "Tell 'em 'bout the little guy"
A chuckle in his voice, Erin Gardner kept on talking. "I was just getting to it Marco. While there was no roster movement for the Fusionneers in the off-season, there were many rumours around the Battlemechs of Claybrooke's. We've been told from reliable sources that many of the players had undergone customizations on their mechs. This was confirmed today during warm-up as we saw Theoden Blossomed's Bloodhound unleash a barrage of weapons from the rear!"
Marco laughed with a mouthfull and swallowed just enough of it to articulate. " The little bugger's shifted almost all his arsenal backwards! Love the guy."
"If it is the whole arsenal, then his opponents will be in hot water as more often then not they end un chasing the speedster across the ice during his dashful breakouts."
" Oh, and then there's also Wendy Macdonald!"
"Right you are Marco. It was confirmed today, as the Fusionneers released their line-up for the match, that their veteran player Wendy "machine gun array" Macdonald has opted for a new ride!"
" First clan mech ever for the fusioneers Erin?"
"That's right. Her Phoenix Hawk IIC is the first clan mech ever fielded by Claybrooke."

* Crap, computer mishap. Continuing.

Marco grinned towards the camera, then turned to his co-host. "You know Erin, for all her talent with the stick, what struck me the most about Wendy's playing style back when I played against her was how she loved to bang you up. Tell you what, I'll bet you this bag of ever fresh chips that she's traded the jumpjets on her mech for some more weaponry."
  "A very probable probability Marco.
" And you know, that's the bottom line with the fusioneers. No non-sense, hard-hitting hockey, carried by good talents that know hot to use their sticks. I mean, that Hall McCanister, what a shot!".

Erin nodded his head. "But they'll be in for quite the match tonight as Francesca Rhon and the adlers will be hunting for some success of their own!"
" You've got that right. Now I'm very excited at seeing how their off-season addition will pan out. I mean, much as I love Brenda, we all know how much of a hassle it is to keep her happy for long."
" The "suitcase" moniker has been called out by a few already I hear."
"Yeah, but then, who wouldn't want her on his team? Great player, nose for the net and that modified Charger of hers is a thing of beauty."

Erin suddenly took a finger to his ear, listening to his earphone, then turned to the camera. "Well that's it for the presentation folks, the Battlemechs are getting ready to step on the ice!."
"The crowd is already chanting that "Please mister lniesman let the players fight" song. This is going to ba a grea season opener, mark my words."

* Now I have to read up on the Noisiel hockey rules.

* I really didn't realize what I was getting into. Battletech hockey is complicated, even more so since my old pdf version of tac:ops seems to be missing pieces on the careful movement on ice rules. Wait a minute...careful movement? Hockey? Gotta keep rolling, health concerns and snow de damned, but this will take far more pondering then expected.

On the screens bordering the rink, hockey fans from accross the known universe were displayed as the Claybrooke Fusioneers stepped on the ice. As organ music filled the area, Erin Gardner's off screen voice sounded.
"And here they are, Claybrooke's own Fusioneers. Now let's take a look at the Fusioneers line-up for this match." A diagram was displayed, putting all else on the background. " We have rising star Theoden Blossomed and his Bloodhound on the right wing, veteran Wendy Mcdonald..." Erin emited a chuckle. " In her new Phoenix Hawk IIC, never tought I'd see the day a clan 'mech would enter the rink." Marco's voice chipped in. " Honestly I'm surprised it took this long. But hey, go on, I'll get back to it."
" Sure thing Marco. And so for a second season Wendy is going to be pivoting her line, proving once again her level of versatility. On the left wing, Miss Giberrish herself, Esthère "Ti-Canin" in her good old Grasshopper"
" Think she'll ever change "mechs?"
" Familly owned if I'm not mistaken, so not if she has too."
" Didn't know that. Suprising how agressive she is with it then."
" Know a lot about that don't you?"
Marco erupted in a short, hearty laugh. "Well I'm just lucky I wasn't on the receiving end for most of our common time in the league. Never knew a 'mechwarrior able to antagonize you to that level."
" On defense, Hall McCanister in his signature TSM modified Banshee."
" Best player on the fusioneers in my book. That slapshot is simply out of this world."
" And of course, the highest scoring defenseman last season, Paulo Té in his Ostsol."
" Now, what I'm asking myself, wiil you present him as a Rover or a Goaltender?"
" With this guy you never know! Can't stay in his crease but wherever he is, his Atlas will be the bane of the opposition is it can stay out of the penalty box, Koru Beukeboom!"

The Claybrooke fans, having a screen dedicated all to themselves, erupted out loud as one voice. "BEUUUUUUUUU!"

*the sheet, for future reference*

C- Mcdonald, Phoenix Hawk IIC
L- Esthère, Grasshopper
R- Blossomed, Blood Hound
D- McCanister, Banshee
D- Té, Ostsol
G/R- Beukeboom, Atlas

*Writing this went at a snail's pace. Think I remained stuck trying to remember the english word "display" for 10 minutes. Lack of knowledge of post-3039 'mech chassis is also a hinderance.

* Aaaaaaaaand it's time for some more musings (amusing musings? I try, probably come off as self-absorbed or something instead, but I try). Sorry to those few who appreciate this one, but time is the greatest luxury of all and "my tailor is rich" in that department.
Looked into the rules a bit more, BMM was quite helpfull once again with its simplified rules. I can't fathom why Noisiel hockey isn't played as deck hockey. Looks like a darn fall fest.
Evident solution is a pilot ability. Some form of Hockey specialization perhaps? I'll need to find the motivation to make sense of the "sample rules" concerning the game itself also. Won't get done in a jiffy that's for sure.
I've actually started working on a personnal project after thinking about it and musing about it for nearly a decade. Realizing one of my other fanfics, which doesn't require to be a BTU story to work, was around 9000 words long prompted me into at least translating it, expanding it goes hand in hand. but gosh I hate translating. So yeah, tought about just forgetting about this BT hockey story, but as some appreciate it, I'll honestly try to do something with it. Once commited, gotta see it through, afterall.
Am I stalling? Yeah.

The organ music slowly faded, then brass instruments erupted, filling the air in an upbeat song.
" Erin, I have to admit, I love this song."
"Who wouldn't? Never in sports history has such a wonderfull piece graced the entry of a professional team. And New Olympia's Anglers jump on the ice accompanied by the brass bonanza."
"Call me an optimist, but I believe this year."
" You found the faith Marco?"
" Oh yeah. I remember how Francesca Rhône looked like she'd duplicated herself on the ice last year. Adding Brenda was a great move during the off-season and their rookies now have more then one tournament under their belts. This is the year they get past the first round."
" Clock is ticking Marco, time to look at the Anglers roster before the start of the game. First off, the newcomer, Brenda Shenanigan in her TSM equiped Charger."
" Some 'mechs have attained a legendary status along with their pilots on the other game worlds, but it must be said for Brenda's Charger, it stands out of the lot with its All-time statistics."
" Quite so, few 'mechs have permitted their pilots to accumulate so many points and so many penalty minutes!"
" Oh man, I still remember my last tournament." Marco erupted in a noisy laughter. "Never seen a 'mech punch above it's weight like that. My last fight on the ice, I was done after that one. Say, didn't you play against Brenda Also."
" Sure did. Her rookie year. (author's note: I'm sure some criticise the lack of polish to my fanfics, well here you are. Insider joke to boot) Next up young Mariusz Czerkawski in his Griffin. Many are hoping for a breakthrough season. He sure has the skill to be in this league, it remains to be seen if he has the grit to be part of a championship club."
Marco momesso snapped his tongue. "I don't see it."
"You don't?"
"Nah."
"Care to elaborate?"
"Can't, just a hunch."
" Well, all bets are still open at this point. On defense we have Huguette "robocop" Salaison in her up-armored Cyclops coming off another rock solid tournament."
" She really needs to clean up her play though. Somebody will exact vengeance at some point."
Erin made a few acquiescing sounds. "Not a fan either. Wouldn't have allowed those kinds of things back in my days. Still, one of the most reliable stay-at-home defense 'mech in the league."
Marco grunted. " She'd be better off staying in the goal crease for a few years. Might actually be in the anglers plans as they are trying out a new formation this year, disregarding the goalie completely in favour of a full-time rover. Might very well be their plan to leave Salaison in her zone."
" A sound theory. And so the other part of the defensive pairing, Voldemars Malarky, who's offensive prowesses with his Thundebolt will once again seek to compensate for his lack of commitment. I'd like to remind our viewers of Malarky's ditching of his team, faking an ankle injury to go skiing with his son."
"Last year of his contract isn't it?"
"Sure is, look to him to give more of an effort as to obtain a contract next year. And now the Angler's rover, Kevheil Dinic, A young player with a bright future."
"Some see him as the successor to capitaincy once Francesca retires. Must say I agree. The anglers have had few players as hard-nosed as Dinic and his Daikyu."
"Last but not least: captain Francesca Rhône and her black knight."
You could sense the respect in Marco's voice. "Ah, captain Rhône. The quintessential franchise player. Need a goal? You have it. Need a pass? You're served. Need a check? Bam, there she is. Need a blocked shot? The goalie might as well be sleeping. Mark my words, someday, she'll lift the cup."
" And so that's tonight's rosters folks. Just in time as the 'mechs are taking their positions for the start of the game."

*Roster sheet for future reference

C- Rhône, Black Knight
LW- Shenanigan, Charger
RW- Czerkawski, Griffin
D- Salaison, Cyclops
D- Malarky, Thunderbolt
R- Dinic, Daikyu

* Wanted to do a mix like the Fusioneers for the Anglers, realised I only knew 2 players on the kraken's (short) all-time roster, went with the islanders instead, gave me a chance to fit Mariusz Czerkawski. Wanted to include more post-3039 'mechs, simply don't know them enough to know who has two hands or not, ended up with a Thunderbolt in the line-up. Next part...as soon as possible. Your patience is appreciated.

As Marco Momesso is about to add some more, he's cut and a commercial comes on.

Then appears chicken wings, obviously a low budget cgi effet. Said chicken wings appear like they are hobbling at incredible speed so as to evade an incoming menace, set against a fairly dry savanah. An off voice is heard.

"Here we have the rare priviledge to see chicken wings attempting to evade their natural predator."

As the chicken wings exit the view, their pursuers, young humans graphically modified so as to mimic the run of a feline like predator, then enter the frame. The off voice goes on.

" But it is a vain attempt, for nothing can stavce off the attack of these prime examples of apex predators."

There is a close-up of said predators, their comical grin, which is a bad attempt at acting, gives off a saddening picture.

"Inexorably, the predators close on their prey, the promise of crispy skin, spicy taste and alluring smell of the chicken wings driving them on. As always, for it is their favored hunting tactic, they lead the pack into a pond of ranch sauce."

We see the chicken wings falling into a white dip filled pond.

" Most assuredly, once these masterfull hunters have had their fill, they will refresh themselves with a drink at the Reed's brew lake."

The scene is cut as a foaming pint is noisely set upon a counter next to a basket of chicken wings. The off voice, leaving its documentary attapted tone, shift to a manly-manly-manly-man-manly voice.

" The Sports Cage! Best chicken wings this side of Terra!"

The screen cuts and Marco Momesso and his partner are back.

"Alright, a bit of eagerness on the technical side."
"You a big fan of the sports cage Marco?"
He gave a hearty laugh. "Ah, all my respect to our sponsors, but I've always had a soft spot for the coffee-brandy. Small place by Dompier, They cook the wings as you like 'em and they've got stout draught."
" You'll have to give me the address."
"Take yourself a pen and paper Erin."

As Erin Gardner was reaching for a pen, Marco turns to the viewers.

"We're taking a break for some commercials before the game. Now's the right time Timmy."

A bunch of vehicles flash as a thunderous music roars. A Tall, wide shouldered, pot-bellied and balding man then appears, smile wide open, showing all teeths.

"That right Ma'ams! This is Bob Pieyay Inviting you over to the biggest truck dealer this side of the periphery! We got Hover trucks, wheeled trucks and even tracked trucks! Don't let 'em talk you down with snowmobile innuendo! There are REAL trucks! 'Cause with Pieyay, the woman is king!

The portrait of a man whose face forces you to look at his nose commes on the screen. The cgi effect gives the movement of his lips and the eye wink at the end a natural air.

"Paris is well worth a mass."

An off-voice then speaks as ancient music plays and various paintings depicting what appears to be an ancient monarch quickly change on screen. "Tune in this saturday as the history channel will look into the life of one of the few kings to have left a pleasant legacy on pre-space-flight Terra."

We are then showed two men sitting on a horse, one obviously of simple extraction, the other well-dressed, facing a splendid retinue with all of them taking off their hats. The peasant speaks.

"Why, m'lord, I don't understand. You'se said I'd get to see the king wence a bunch 'o dandys would take off them's hats."
The other man laughed good heartedly. "Why, my good man, t'means the king's either you or I."

Many paintings are again shown in quick succession as the off-voice begins anew.

"Henri IV of France, witty politician, a master of strategy a lady's man. Join us in this travel back in time as we attempt to unravel the man behind the legend of this beloved king and hearthy drinker."

We see the king raising a glass of wine with a wide smile. "Mordious!"

We are then treated to the view of an armor-clad horseman reviewing what appears to be primitive siege engines as thunderous canons roar.

"In this first episode of our new series on the lives of pre-space-flight Terra monarchs, now using state-of-the-art technologies bought abroad thanks to your patronage, you will witness all the splendor of the renaissance, the simplicity of good king Henri, and the beauty of realistically reconstituted warfae from those by-gone years."

The scene cuts to a logo.

"The Noisiel History Channel. We do more then sports."

*Yes, I was listening to the song "Vive Henri IV" as I was pondering on a funny ad to insert here and nothing came to mind. So sue me, I'm tired.*

A Loud boom is heard as an exuberant man, dressed in a caricatural paramilitary outfit, appears on the screen amidst an explosion which give way to a vast scrapyard. Some of the husks are clearly battlemechs.

"This is Arty Moriarty speaking to you! Down on your Luck!? Company store syndrom hounding you down!? Looking to repair for that last shot at a big break!? Well come on down to Arty's blazing emporium! We got lasers, we got autocannons, we got actuators, we got sensors, we got gyros, we got bananas, we got mangos, we got kiwi fruits!

*WE* *GOT* *YOUR* *BACK*!

An explosion engulfs the screen, blowing Arty away ss he excitedly cries out while twirling our of sight.

"Whoa nelly! The prices'll blow you awaaaaaay!"

A referee comes skating towards the viewers, stops, makes a circular swiping motion and whistles.

"Two minutes for dishwashing!"

The camera pans out over the nearby net as a goaltender skates slowly forward while taking off his mask.

"Ever felt like you need more time to do things you actually like doing? Things like sports?"

An offscreen, deep voice, lets out a word. "Sports".

The goalie resumes. "That was my sentiment not so long ago, as there was always a pile of dishes keeping me from enjoying myself.

The offscreen voice repeats. "Sports."

The player is smiling. "I then went the distance, and bought a Desaulnier sonic dishwasher. Just hum and all the greses comes off. Now I finally have time for my true passion."

He puts his mask back on as once again we hear from out of nowhere the word. "Sports."

A still picture of a home appliance store, with the adress in striking green over the building, then comes up as the voice continues.

"Desaulnier furniture. When you'd rather be doing sports."

Wagner's "flying dutchman" booms as a swarm of men in jump packs passes before the screen, leaving whitish cloud trails.

"Buisness means risk. Betting on the right equipment. The right product. The right manpower for the job."

A galleon tank roll across the screen, men perched on top with their rifles as more infantry walks alongside with heavy weaponry.

" Investing your money is already too much of a headache to stress over a pirate raid, or a dirty trick from your competitor. We, the proud men and women of Spiky Gregory's Foolproof Security make sure that your capital is never at risk."

We are shown soldiers on review as an officer inspects them, holding a porcupine on leash.

"Like ol' Spiky here, were all ready to protect whatever needs protecting for a measly price. Its our nature. Its our lot. Its your gain."

A cart rolls off, pulled by an odd six-legged amphibian like creature, filled with casks.

" Tradition. Intensity. Sharp taste. For more then two century's, the master brewers of noisiel take care, choosing the finest ingredients and methods, to delight their faithful customers with a heavenly taste. The taste, of Jack 'o Diamonds."

The cart arrives at a small barn where men are working steadily, unloading barrels and manipulating them.

" It has long been know to the initiates of our fair planet that when a man has had a long day at work..."

A worker takes off his hat while rubbing off sweat with the arm of his shirt.

"...nothing can enable him to ease off the tension like a good finger or two of jack 'o diamonds on cool rocks."

A women lovingly pours a glass containing rocks that fume from their temperature. Before corking back the bottle, she takes a swig.

"And it is no surprise that woman prefer Jack 'o Diamonds to all other whiskys, its light sugary taste able to melt any heart."

The man and woman clink their glasse while reclining in their lazyboys.

"Jack 'o Diamonds. A Noisiel tradition."

A different voice cuts in. "Drink responsibly."

* Cheez-whiz, last time I wrote the actual story was in december. Replaced all my delirious rule musings and replaced them with "typical ads"...for some I have absolutely no credit as they're more or less translations from actual ads many, many years ago. I suppose "where the woman is king!" might be, I don't know, ill received by some nowdays, but back then, it was good fun for all. We always wondered if he was serious or just making fun of himself...think Andrei Markov still skated back then.*

Francesca Rhône made her way slowly towards the center of the ice.

Phew, feel rusty after the off-season. 'ech threathen to topple over with each step. Next year I have to do more on-ice practice.

The referee hover tank waited as the two captains converged on its position, waiting silently for the call. Wandy Mcdonald, in her Pheonix Hawk IIC, moved equaly cautiously towards her.

The team frequency was booming with advice. Dinic was, as always, the most vocal, managing to bury the other's voice, then Brenda Shenanigan called out. "Hey! Shut it everybody! Tradition calls for tails! First game, we've got first call, make it tails!".

The last few steps were executed in silence. The players, the audience, the announcers, all held their breath.

Francesca licked her lips and slowly, meticulously, articulating the short word as clearly as possible, called out. "Tails".

The coin fell on face.

A bad omen.

Dropping her head as much as the bulky neurohelmet permited, she executed a careful 180 degree turn and started walking back into her zone when a curse was heard on the general frequency, and a loud thud was heard. Wendy's chirpy voice let out a "Son of a bun!" as her 'mech fell on its side, missing a step on the slippery ice.

But then, all is not lost.

She turned slightly and torso twisted the rest of the way to look down on McDonald's Pheonix Hawk, hoping in vain for another fall. The team then started its chattering.

Malarky was first to chip in. "So, yeah, ah, tell you what, I'm not feeling so good so, ah." He was cut by Dinic. "Yeah, yeah, sure you are. Just follow the play and get ready to pass back. Hey Czerkawsky!".
"Tak?"
"Wanna see how you do with the puck. Soon as I get it, you get a long pass.

Rhône interjected. "Woh, woh, slow down. Don't wan't too many of those. Watch the little bugger in his bloodhound." Salaison gave a short laugh. "I'm on 'em. He ain't passing cutting in on net on my watch." Shenanigan made a tsk-tsk sound. "Don't get too cocky. You know how he moves. Better Idea to put the pressure on. I'll try and nail 'em good if I get a chance. Stick close to him. Francesca, what's your call?"

"My call is don't flare your nostrils everyone. We're rusty, they're rusty, with a bit of luck that fall rattled Wendy...Play it safe. Get your bearings. Let's play this first rush safe. Shanny, 'Kawsky, you guys follow your 'mechs and block the passing lanes. I'll put some mild pressure while the defense falls back in good order. Copy that?"

The team answered by the affirmative as the clock of the first period started ticking.

*You know, I'm still unsure if I should roll for fall as the players make their way on the ice. Really curious how much of a fall fest this is, even with the "hockey specialist" pilot abilities. A blood hound at full speed IS eleven rolls...a snake eyes is always a realistic possibility.*

"Son of a *bun*!"

Wendy McDonald cried out the curse as her 'mech slipped on the ice. All the rage and frustration booming out on the general frequency as she'd forgotten to change after the coin toss. McCanister enquired on her well being on the team frequency as, a bit dazed from the fall, she took the time to change her own so only her teammates would hear her.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm all right. Managed to brace for the impact." She clenched her teeth as she brought the Phoenix Hawk back to its feet as nimbly as she could manage. "Well, we got the first one out of the way. Watch your step people, we're all bound to be unstable. First game and all."

Theodoen Blossomed's voice came in. "Told you 'cap, told you to come practice with me during the offseason."

Beukeboom added a layer. "Heh, yeah, but the 'cap was too busy. 'T'aint easy to handle all that popularity."

Paulo jumped in. "Talking of which, sure hope you brought us some burgers 'cap."

Wendy snorted as she took position. "You bastards keep making fun of me and I'll serve y'all some ketchup with my knuckles..."

Esthère cut her. " 'Nough jackassing. Down me th'cow-lys d'puck. 'Stee'd game gotta start-ay 'fore sah finish."

There was a short silence. Wendy cleared her throath before speaking. "Steed game for sure Esther. Okay, we've got initiative so we're going to take this opportunity to shake the rust off. Keep advancing, keep passing. I want everyone to steady themselves, watch your step, get a hold of the stick. Once they start reacting we're passing back to Paulo, we'll see where we go from the there."

The Pheonix Hawk IIC passed the puck back to Beukeboom's Atlas, which he deftly catched. As he put his 'mech in position to start the rush, the horn sounded and the clock started ticking.

They all adjusted the throttle to a slow walk, going easy on the pedals and minding their concentration as the puck kept moving from one player to another. When the puck finally reached Esthère, she decided to lit things up. Putting her mech into a run, she quickly ran up to the opposing Griffin.

A hint of exasperation in her voice, Wendy called her back. "Blake's will Esther! Slow down! Keep with us!"

" Zet too slow lay chums." She brushed shoulders with Czerkawski's Griffin that was a bit too slow to react. Both 'mechs rocked a bit as the two mechwarriors fought to steady themselves. Esthère kept yammering. "Sack-rament yay po'lumay st'esthee lah. Left wing, Left wing s'tonight!" As she called her advice, she passed the puck back to defense. Wendy frowned.

I think getting re-used to Esther is going to be the biggest challenge in the first few games of this season.

The Anglers applied a rather timid forecheck as the puck was passed further back to the goaltender. Blossomed shouted out a few "heys" as he shifted to the left wing while letting go an alphastrike from all hir rear mounted weapons into Shenanigan's charger's right side. The Assault mech toppled onto the ice.

Blossomed's excited voice shouted out again. "I've got an opening! Long pass! Long pass!"

Beukeboom managed to reach Thedoden's Bloodhound with his pass. The medium 'mech then attempted to use his speed for a breakaway. Wendy pushed the throttle on her pixie IIC, biting her lower lip.

Oh, oh this is on.

The bloodhoound started for the opposing net at full speed, cuting diagonaly back towards the right wing, managing to barely deke Rhône's pokecheck, but being forced to slow down and retreat back towards its team mates as Salaison's Cyclops imposed its size to scare off Blossomed.

"You'll have to face me sooner or later tonight you little rat! Gah! Damm it!"

Salaison's surprised cry was a reaction to another alpha strike from the bloodhound's rear facing weapons.

Can't understand why no one had thought about this yet. Might look into shifting my weapons to the rear next year myself.

Blossomed barely had the time to pass the puck before his mech tumbled, crashing into the ice. As Theoden's cry of pain was heard, Rhône managed to snatch the puck right under McCanister's nose with a timely interception. Nobody had seen her go. Wendy growled.

Darn old hag still has it.

"Beu! You're up!"

"Already on it." As he said so, his Atlas rammed into the Black Knight, knocking the puck loose. While Rhône managed to stay upright, she'd lost all momentum, and Té picked up the loose puck.
