Thanks to B-3, IAMCLANWOLF, speck and the fundicators for bringing this beautiful sculpt into existance.

I feel privileged to have played a very small part in the process. I look forward to purchasing one for my mini collection.

I was initially baffled as to why so many people wanted the Highlander resculpted, the original seemed perfect to me.

Upon witnessing this beast, I have seen the light.  Very nice looking assault 'mech here.  I will definitely be getting some for my Shadows.

I am so freakin' pumped about these sculpts. I really need to figure out where I'm going to put all the superfluous Highlanders I'm going to buy once these are out.

Because with scale creep the old sculpt looks like a medium mech, the new T-bolt or Archer towers over my old Highlanders.  :'(
I'm going to need 3 or 4 of the new sculpt at least.  :-\

(Now if only someone could help my dwarfed Awesomes & Hatamotos...  :-[ )

I don't suppose these will be out by GenCon, maybe by Thanksgiving?  ??? (I can only hope!)

I gotta' ask - how do you get such perfectly aligned and shaped missile holes in your plastic? I tried like heck on my Griffin-mod and couldn't get it right.

I could tell you but then I'd hafta kill you.  :D

No really,  I draw a grid, take a pointed tool and make a dent at each intersection or empty space depending on the pattern and then the drill starts in the dent for good alignment (usually).  Drill shallow holes of even depth, repeat as necessary. O0

Aside from sorcery, any advice for someone needing to kitbash a good cylindrical missile launcher?

(In this case, an Unseen Thunderbolt)

Probably will be of no help here but what I would at least try to do is take a brass tube, about the diameter of the original missile launcher, cover one end with thin styrene sheeting, and put green putty in the inside, then close off the other side with another peice of styrene. After this you could probably follow B-3's advice and draw a pattern where the individual missile ports are.
At least thats what I'd try, I hope this helps!  O0
At Comstar we listen. It's that simple.

Depending on the OD of the tubing needed you could use a Leggo and/or model kit sprue and drill your launch tube holes in the end.

There is brass tubing in the exact diameter (likely how it was sculpted in the first place).  I cut the correct length, then scored around the diameter about 1/16" from each end for a little detail.  Then I filled with epoxy putty, leaving about 1/16" indent at the front.  I drilled the patterned holes in a piece of styrene then cut/filed the bit until it fit tight inside the tube.  Next I glued the bit to a larger tab of styrene so I could use it as a stamp.  I added a small wad of epoxy to the front of the tube then pressed it down with the stamp.  It took a few tries but I got a pretty damn good set of missile tips if I do say so myself.  Cast a dozen copies and I'm all set.  Of course this was an LRM15 tube.  I never finished the LRM10 or LRM20 tubes.

The shot of the three tubes is (left to right) rear, front, and "green".

Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,      Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
The hour when earth's foundations fled,         They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
Followed their mercenary calling,               What God abandoned, these defended,
And took their wages, and are dead.             And saved the sum of things for pay.

I can see the skill that it took to make the model, but I like the old one much better. This one to me does not look like the art.

We will have to agree to disagree.  The old model needs to be turned out and retired, sorry.  I loved the old model but, after working on the new one, wow.  I'm sold.  Looking forward to the Flashman next!

I was not sold on the idea that the Highlander needed a resculpt. I believed and still do believe that the original sculpt is perfectly serviceable. However, as I have said up thread, I am proud to have played a very minor part in getting this resculpt into production, it is simply beautiful and leaves the original sculpt in a cloud of its jump jet exhaust.

When it is available for purchase I will be purchasing it for my growing personal collection of miniatures and I will also purchase an original sculpt (allows me to field two Highlanders on a tabletop and not get the two miniatures mixed up). However I am only plannig to stock the resculpt for sale.
