The Nova Combined Electronic Warfare System (IO, p.66) is literally three systems in one. It is a ECM, Active Probe, and a special C3i all combined into one device. Under BattleForce this item grants the ECM, PRB, and NOVA abilities (IO, p.198).
1) Does the Nova CEWS' ECM use Guardian ECCM rules (TO, p.101)?
2) The Nova CEWS' C3i system can only be jammed by a hostile Nova CEWS. Is this ability separate from the ECM ability, or may a Nova CEWS' ECM be set to ECCM mode to negate the jamming?
3) Does the Nova CEWS' ECM have any effect on C3 Boosted Systems (TO, p.298) or Streak Missile systems?
The Nova CEWS is the only C3 system that can be used in Small Craft (IO, p.219). It is allowed to be installed on Conventional Fighters, Aerospace Fighters, and Small Craft. It is even given an Aero range bracket of short (IO, p.218). An aerospace unit equipped with a Nova CEWS seems to only be able to interact with a ground unit when it is flying at NoE (TW, p.81). In the Weapons and equipment section, under the ECM and Active Probes rules (TW, p.238), it states "The area of effect of ECM mounted on an aerospace unit only affects ground units (and vice versa) when the Aerospace Units on Ground Mapsheet rules are in use (see p. 91), the affected unit is within range, and the aerospace unit occupies NoE altitude".
4) If an Aerospace Fighter equipped with a Nova CEWS makes a NoE Strafing (TW, p.243) or NoE Altitude Bombing (TW, p.246) attack, may it send data to friendly Nova CEWS equipped ground units?
5) If an airborne unit at NoE can send C3 data to friendly Nova CEWS units, does one just simply use the shortest amount of hexes from the Flight Path to the chosen target?
6) The Nova CEWS' ECM and Active Probe have a range of 3. One altitude is equal to 2 hexes (TW, p.107). Are the effected hexes, from a NoE's Flight Path, just the Flight Path and each adjacent hex?
7) Since the Nova CEWS has three components to it, each with a different ability, may the ECM and Active Probe function when on the Space Map per Electronic Warfare rules (SO, p.111)? The Aero Range bracket appears to support this usage.
