(Answered) IO - DHS-P questions
« on: 14 October 2019, 06:03:51 »
IO page 71 says

Quote
(This means that all of the “critical-free” heat sinks provided by the ’Mech’s engine, per the rules found on p. 53 of TechManual, must either be standard heat sinks, or must be fully allocated on the unit’s Critical Hit Table to be replaced with prototype double heat sinks.)

That means any standard heat sink located on the crit table can be upgraded to DHS-P.

Or does that mean any heat sink can be placed outside the engine and thus can be upgraded to DHS-Ps?

Are DHS-P compatible with IS and Clan DHS?

Thanks

Any heat sinks beyond the 10 free ones can be upgraded to DHS-P, as long as they are located on the critical tables. If you have a large enough engine, then any heat sinks that can/must be mounted within it must be singles. As for combining with Clan DHS, or any other type of heat sink for that matter, no: DHS-P can be combined with single heat sinks and that's all.

Ok on the no mixing DHS and DHS-Ps but you lost me with the 10 free singles. :(  All the free heat sinks have to either be singles or doubles? Non of them can be DHS-Ps?

For example the Urbanmech has a 60 rated engine so 8 of it's 10 free heat sinks are outside the engine and listed on the RS along with 1 extra. But I can only upgrade that 1 extra to a DHS-P to remove 12 heat?  Or can I upgrade up to all 9 of the singles to DHS-Ps to remove up to 20 heat?  :-\

Thanks
