Is this an Omni?
That is, you made as cheap and as fast as possible OmniHover just for mechanized BA?

Yeah there’s this super light BA transport in the Wolf Pack novel that has never received stats. The cheapest way to make it work is to omnify it as a cheat to avoid an infantry compartment

The image of BA hurtling along at 900 kph is rather amazing

That's got some pace!

"Express delivery!"
"That's Lieutenant Faceplant to you, Corporal!"

Things that I have learnt through clicking too fast on 'Move Done' on MegaMek: Double-check the CF of the building before jumping onto it, check artillery arrival times before standing in the neighbouring hex, and don't run across your own minefield.

"Hmm, I wonder if I can turn this into a MM map."

I can picture that on low-gravity moon/world.

Totally stupid, totally awesome. Propose calling the XXL version the Sonic Boom.

...oh man, I wonder if any daredevil could re-teach the Kzinti Lesson to PBI with one of these. It'd be like standing in front of behind a commercial airliner jet engine.

I agree.  This is totally ridiculous, and I love it.  Who said ASF are the only things which can cover several maps a turn?

And because it is so awesome, I got to thinking about an option which provided a little more... dexterity across rugged terrain.

I couldn't figure out how to stick a Supercharger on these bad boys, so I just tossed on some minimal armor.

Maybe I should call these Murdocks in honor of one of my favorite pilots in fiction.

Edit:  As a side note, a Tracked Vehicle with the same set up as the OP would only squeeze out a mere 367 kph Cruising Speed with a top speed of 734 kph.   :D

A Wheeled one can squeeze out a little more at 410 and 821 kph respectively.  This of course assumes you could find a road long enough to test it on and treads/tires that could survive that abuse.

A 3-ton hover with the largest engine that fits (100 XXLFE) goes 46/69/92 with a supercharger. A VTOL goes 50/75/100... ::)

Of course you haven't reached maximum rules abuse until you add fractional accounting. Who needs superchargers when a 2-ton VTOL goes 75/113? ;)

I'm plenty happy with the speeds on the ICE version.   But isn't the max TMM capped at.... huh. TMM max is a +6(+7 for jumping/flying), for moving 25 hexes. Okay maybe it could use a bit more cruising speed.  Give it a plain ol' XL engine.

Right. I only went to the extremes. I image the real version used some variety of fusion

I kicked around some house rules for these things back when I first read Wolf Pack.  Stuff like the hover doesn't have a proper pilot.  The BA squad leader is the driver. It had a big, chunky, reinforced joystick.  It was an unarmored open frame, like the book, with just the BA troopers for "ablative armor."  And since they weren't enclosed by anything, the troopers could shoot out.  So a small laser foward, one left, one right and one rear.
