4th Crucius Lancers
« on: 28 February 2011, 12:31:19 »
Here's my lance of 4th Crucius Lancers. The shininess is from the camera flash, but I'm not entirely convinced the Krylon Flat is as flat as the Testor's Dull Coat.

Individual photos.

I love your use of color blocking.  Yellow is a hard color to paint for me. Do you use a base like white or something
under it ?

Roses are red, violets are red, grass is red......

Those came out pretty nice, maybe hit them with another dull coat?
I havnt used krylon, i bought the insanely expensive GW before i knew better.
it works great, even if you pay through the nose for it.
I'm sorry, your authority is not recognized inside Fort Kickass!

I usually use a white under yellow or red. In this case I used Polly Scale's Dirty White, which is like the color of butter.

I like Testor's dull coat, even though a small can costs as much as this can of Krylon. I ran out of my Testor's dullcoat and thought I'd try this stuff. Think I may go back, or more likely use Testors as the final coat.

I want to make my usual anti-fedrat comments, but they look so cool  :-\

Now it hits me! They look like they've been glazed like pottery then decorated with cotton candy packaging! Is this part of the Davion Recruiting scheme!? ???

Red on top of anything was alwways a problem that plagued me for years until I discovered the Citadel base colors.
I use that Baal red I think it is which looks like brick red or clay colored. Then i cover it with a thin layer of blood red.
They do have the best line of reds that work for me.  I usually prefer the Vallejo colors though  ;)

The minis are beautiful. Unfortunately, the matt coat ended too glossy. Your highlights are very good. Add more shadows and it will royaly rock. I hope this comment helps you!

Those are some excellent looking miniatures. Great job! I'd love to have a Victor that looked that good.

Looking good man! Very nice panelling work. :)

As for your Krylon Flat, I use the stuff interim to protect my works-in-progress as it is cheaper than dull coat but to me it looks like you applied it a bit to heavy. Treat it like anything else 'spray on', a few thin coats work better than one thick one.

Your thinking of 'Mechandrite Red Foundation' from GW, Baal Red is the wash. ;)
