Forgive that question but does that mean that we won´t see the Battlemaster and Thud till the end of the HG trials? I just wonder because all I know of is that the Marauder, Locust and Archer were in their legal claim. Haven´t seen anything about the Battlemaster and Thunderbolt.

You, more than likely, wont see them in metal until after the new Game of Armored Combat box from CGL has been released. That box set will have those two mechs in Plastic in it. IWM, it seems, is being a good sport by allowing CGL to release those mechs first in plastic with their new box sets before releasing them in metal. I can't say how long they will wait after the box set has been released to put out metal versions, but I would guess somewhere between a month and six months.

Are there any info on those box available? Mechs, price, date, or looks?

You are going to have to ask in a Catalyst forum.  IWM only releases the classics when Catalyst gives the go ahead.

Yes. If you look at the bottom of page 1 in this thread you can see some pictures:

http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=58343.0

And I have some in my gallery from GenCon as well:

https://1drv.ms/a/s!ApDHaN8p702HggEGRapqSdSGz30Y

I didn't get any pictures of the ones that were hastily painted at the con, but I know GRUD got some of the Thunderbolt at least:

http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=58264.msg1347561#msg1347561

CGL also had a post up on their site with stuff they were bringing to GenCon that had mockups of the boxes pictured. All the pictures of the mini's came from the Con. The list of mechs was confirmed in the new releases thread:

http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=58071.msg1344061#msg1344061

but to save you the trouble, here is what is slated for the GoAC box:
Battlemaster
Awesome
Thunderbolt
Catapult
Shadow hawk
Wolverine
Locust
Commando

and the Intro box is supposed to have the Wolverine and Griffin.

The big unknown is the price, but the rest is pretty much set it looks like.

As for the classics in metal, all we know from CGL is IWM will be able to release after the boxes are out but that will greatly depend on when IWM has them scheduled as well.

Wow, thank you very much. I said it a few months ago that CGL would release the new starter box with the release of HBS Battletech for PC. I knew it O0
ANd that Catapult is such a surprise. I never would´ve thought that they would come up with a decent design. ANd now look at this beauty. I hope all the old Loose designs get redesigned like that.
But I have one further question: aren´t plastic minis a worse choice for people who want to paint their minis? I mean whenever I mess up a mini I throw it into turpentine and restart my painting process. Plastic would melt or at least would get damaged, right. Furthermore paint sticks better on metall minis. Sure you can paint on plastic but you have to work with rubbing alcohol to get every spot of grease cleaned off the surface. Plus plastic feels flimsy. I´m not complaining just rummaging wether I should buy the starter box or wait for the metal ones.

iirc the new Catapult design also got new art. Same with the Commando and Awesome I believe. I hope the rest of the 3025 machines eventually see the same treatment eventually.

If you use pine-sol instead of turpentine, plastics clean up just as easily add metal, and don't melt unless you leave them in for a VERY long time. And once you prime them, they paint exactly the same. If you're concerned about the heft, I like to fill any hollow spaces in the bottom with sand, then seal it with superglue. Makes them very stable. :)

There are pictures all over this forum, mostly in GenCon and What's New threads.

Nah, I meant about the Catapult. I haven´t seen any new art about that. Or is it in some TRO?

We have not seen the new Awesome & Commando afaik . . . but look to MWO, I think it will be close to that set of images.

I am guessing you did not buy any of the lance packs, b/c this plastic is supposed to be better than that set of plastics.  Those plastics paint up so well that if you do not look at the base or lift them up you can hardly tell the different from the Ral Patha/IWM sculpts.  Lol, if they ARE based, only way to tell is to lift them up where the weight comes into play.

I haven't had any trouble painting up the plastics from the lance packs or the last box set. Of course, I have not tried to strip any of the ones I've painted, so I couldn't tell you how well they clean up.

They clean up well using Simple Green or whatever that cleaner is. IMO the stuff works better than PinSol. Better yet, doesn't eat your hands like PinSol either.

Yeah, I used Simple Green to clean off a Cat & Victor as well as my experimental Cyclops.
