The folks at Iron Wind Metals do a good job, but they're (as far as I know) human and sometimes mistakes happen.

I'm wondering what the oddest mix ups people have ever gotten have been?  I ask because I just purchased one of the new Griffin sculpts and discovered when I got it home that it was missing the torso.

who had their mechs sent to southeast asia and back? they're already the winner.

i think in about twelve years i've needed IWM to fix something about a half a dozen times (usually a missing piece or two)

the oddest mixup was getting a reseen wolverine with longbow legs.

IWM has never messed up an order of mine (but I've only ordered a few times over the years). However... I ordered a set of metal CAV minis from Reaper once and got 2 right arms for a mech. The replacement part they shipped (which took emails, pictures, and almost 2 months)... was another right arm... 😑

Oh Right - I totally forgot about this.

THIS was the oddest IWM error I ever had :P

https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=61457

Basically, made an Order with IWM and it was sent to Cambodia instead of Canada!

Eventually got it tho.

I can't remember what it was, but I got the wrong body in a package... and then got everything but the correct body in the mail from IWM. They made it right with the second mailing, and we had a laugh (and I had more bits).

Aren't both legs Usually on one sprue?  ???

I once got a reseen Warhammer with Locust IIC arms.
So, did you make a very Odd-Looking WHM then?   ???  Maybe with the LCT arms on the shoulders or even hips?   ;D

That's one of the GREAT things about IWM though.  They make corrections, you get the right bits AND you get to keep the WRONG ones!

not in the case of a Mech with a Multi-Part leg. Then it is a case of a separate sprue for each.

For my life, I can't remember what it came in, but I once got a single sprue that had gubbins on it like a Kurita crest, faceplate for a missile launcher, and samurai-style armor plates. Like a dope I incorporated these into projects instead of making GS molds that I could duplicate them again. Has anyone ever encountered the same? I know the parts weren't related to the blister they came from, I recall that much.

Otherwise, I got a Vulpes with two left lower legs, a Nyx with two torsos, and a Night Hawk with two torsos, was able to get two Nyx for the price of one with some spare legs I had + the variant arms it came with!

Only ordered from them once, and eveything went great. The odddest thing about IWM is that they havew a 1933 webpage ewith a really bad way of displaying minis. The wonder is that we buy no that they make mistakes. Unless you know EXACTLY what you are looking for it is a very bad customer experience to shop there. :/

The mini display is a picture but it might be better with a shot from two angles- though they get a lot of the photos from CamoSpecs folks.  The Covid kind of messed with the web update, the main page being such a jarring change from the store page kind of lets you know its a work in progress.

I want to say the weirdest one I had was missing a fist/exhaust sprue for a Legionnaire but I had 2 gun sprues- so extra RAC/5 and ERPPC.

I am not sure the shipping address is a 'part' though, lol.

I bought from an FLGS a kanga kit that came with Epona hulls.

I bought an Atlas III with no hockey pads, Melissa got that sorted out fast

I bought a Warhammer 4L/9s kit with two whole sets of torsos and legs. BONUS!

I know I’m going to have to look back through my containers of ‘Mechs/‘Mech bits. I have at least one each unbuilt PP Phoenix Hawk, Warhammer and maybe Thunderbolt, and I believe I’m missing pieces from each (for instance, pretty sure I need a P-Hawk head).

I had an Uziel show up without the torso - just arms and legs.  I ended up crafting a FrankenMech body out of Thumper wheels, the shoulder of a Yu Huang, and an extra Thunderbolt head.

I ordered a PP Battlemaster and Archer. The Battlemaster was missing a left arm which had come off the sprue prior to packaging and the Archer had no missile launcher hatches. I contacted Ironwind and they sent me a new set of Battlemaster arms and missile hatches for the Archer, but they only sent me one hatch rather than the required 2. I contacted IWM again, letting them know I only needed 1 hatch. They sent me the missing hatch...along with another full set of Battlemaster arms. Not complaining, their customer service was very good and responded quickly, and I used one of the spare BM right arms to modify a Cicada into the PPC variant by cutting off the barrel end.

In the RP days, I bought a Komodo. It contained a sprue with bits I could not place for the life of me.

Years later I bought a Mackie and was disappointed to see that the miniature lacked detail, because it was missing its crotch lasers.

A little while later, idly rummaging through my bits box, I got a little shock: that Komodo sprue was the Mackie bits I didn't know I was missing, including that shoulder pad for which I definitely would never have guessed a correct function otherwise.

To this day, the coincidence freaks me out. Beyond a mispackaged Sturmfeur,  I never had a blister missing something, or containing something extra. And there were years between those two purchases.

I've had a Rook blister that had two torsos and no legs, a Hoplite with 2 of the same leg (and since the two proper legs each had half of the base, and it was made to only go together one way, it made for a lot of hacking and sawing to make it work.
A friend of mine, who has me assemble his stuff, had an Agroterra that only had one arm and one leg that belonged to that mini in the blister; it did have the right torso as well, but a wrong arm and a wrong leg. We FrankenMeched the heck out of it with my bits box.
Btw Crimson Dynamo, I have that exact piece of sprue you're talking about, and part of me wants to say it came with my Hellfire... which makes it weirder, since that's a clanner of course. Though I could be misremembering.

I bought four of the new Flashman mini and all four were missing their arms.

I will correct it on my next order. IWM is great like that.

Back in the RP days, I once ordered an entire company of Unseen Crusaders at once.

When the order came in, the minis I actually got were labelled Crusaders on the box, but were actually Wasp light Mechs.

As I needed light Mechs anyway and the store owner only charged me for the Wasps instead of the Crusaders, I went ahead and kept the order and ordered another company of Crusaders, but that mix up has always stuck in my head as a "how do you screw up that bad" moment.  I mean, I could understand one or two being mislabeled or boxed wrong, but an entire company worth?

It's natural to assume that the people who produce the miniatures for a game are familiar with the game itself.

It's not necessarily a correct assumption, but it's a natural one.

I found a reseen archer with reseen battlemaster arms at the game store once. Threw in some extra bits and turned out a pretty successful kitbash.

Otherwise, I got a Vulpes with two left lower legs, a Nyx with two torsos, and a Night Hawk with two torsos, was able to get two Nyx for the price of one with some spare legs I had + the variant arms it came with!

The plate with the details is from the Reseen Archer I believe,  antenna or lrm covers I think.

The Nyx is suppose to come with 2 torsos. Both are unique to the variants and differ slightly (chin lasers I think), ironically the only thing missing is the 2 legs for 2 full mechs yes.

Jackalope in a pack labelled Osteon, ordered as an osteon.

Took a pic with the blister unopened, as it was really obvious. Getting the osteon was some of the fastest customer service I've ever gotten.

I ordered a Nyx, and got two legs, two torsos, and four arms.

Turns out that's how they ship the Nyx - the standard version, and the lance-arm version. The differences in the torsos are negligible. Now I hope to get extra Nyx legs my mistake in my next

OK, just had one happen.

I open the parcel and pull out the agrotera for my death commando company.

There are cones coming out of both feet, and the right arm and leg aren't bent enough.

I ordered this

What I got is this, except I didn't get the flame trails to hold it off the base.

I'm debating filling out the complaint form. I don't really mind - it is close to the right mini and I'm a good enough modeller to make it work. I just hope it doesn't happen to someone who can't

At least regarding missing parts i should consider myself a lucky one.
A single failure in about 500+ minis is not that bad.

Had an Atlas II blister missing the biggest part: the torso with attached head.
Made a photo, contaced IWM and got my spare part send to me.
10 out of the 14 day delay were absolutely not IWMs fault, but my local custom authority, which did not understand what to do with that part.

Not from IWM directly but I bought about two dozen blisters and my Tian Zongs blister had a small hole in the side and both arms managed to fall out of the hole into the package at large. Combined with two other blisters that blew wide open (a Karhu and Deimos) I was very confused as to where the arms came from. I finally figured it out as I was doing a very close inspection on each blister to get to the botttom of the arm mystery

Two odd ones for me.

Ordered two Hellbringer Primes.  Got one that was correct, they other blister had the torso for the C variant.

The other was a Men Shen from one of the Liao lance packs.  Came with two left legs.  I eventually let IWM know, and they sent the right leg out.  Along with two more left legs.

Obviously there was a surplus of Men Shen left legs that they needed to get out of the warehouse.

Believe it or not, I got a Men Shen with two right legs. Fortunately Feenix74, who at that time was an IWM reseller here Down Under, was able to sub me a leg.

I still have the spare right leg; sure you don't need it? :)

Yeah, I had some bad cast MAD-4X legs . . . both from minis bought at the FLGS.  You could hear it crackling when cutting on the sprue . . . hey, debris markers!  Also had that happen with a Hawkwolf mini- leg looked like someone had mostly shot off the foot.

Balius once came with four front left legs. Rather than complain I used it for a wreck instead.

I had a very curious "issue":

Ordered a Catapult C1/K4 and a C3/C5: I wanted two C1 but the online shop had only one Blister available, so I brought also the other Blister to use the Body for a K4.

Got two pairs of LRM-15 in the Blister. Now I have my two C1!  :D :D :D :D
