LIDAR echo reported
« on: 20 February 2020, 07:29:05 »
From - CDS Ironmonger
Location - Asteroid mining site 09a - RDB/0411 system.
Date - 20/02/3049
FAO - Scientist Robert (Eddison)

As was expected, the Ravens are using RDB/0411 as a testing ground for the new Aerospace fighters we have heard rumors about. Our Ghost Bear hosts were tight lipped about their holdings here and any goings on, their friendship with the Ravens seems as close as ever and none of the personnel here were willing to chat about the goings on. Once fully loaded up we were heading for the jump point when we got several sensor echos at long range. Due to the radiation and distance, the images are bare wireframes but it should be enough to go with for further research.

See attached images.

Some WIP's for...a thing...done by the amazing Matt Plog, as always, any thoughts and comments are most welcome!

The Zulu looks to be of a good size (75+ tons) while the one on the bottom is a light fighter judging by the size of the cockpit in relation to the size of the fighter.

And more practical. Is it a Sabre IIC?

The names give hints about their nature.

Clan second line fighters are named after stuff related to Alexander the Great. OmniFighters are named after warrior tribes/ancient tribes or stuff related to Ghengis Khan.

These two are the Zulu and the Mashona (A large group of indiginous Africans under many different tribes) so these are OmniFighters.

Speaking of which. Meet the nose section of the Crow.

That's a fairly large gun pod (with respect to size) under the cockpit/nose section

Tail gun camera footage from Lieutenant J Hooper's Lucifer. He and his fighters were part of a group that attacked inbound DropShips over Toland and our listening post was able to intercept this data feed and transmit it onwards. The footage cuts out three seconds later as the unknown craft turned with Hooper's fighter and destroyed it. Size estimates put it in the 80 - 100 ton bracket and it was able to keep up with Hooper's craft and turn with him.

I have attached the audio logs of the engagement and will forwards any further data we can get. Our compound has not been touched, but the Jade Falcon forces have taken this world.

We are running searches on any matching iconography and the 'skull' on the fighters canopy, but have turned nothing up yet. As the Falcons have not contacted us, we are unable to ask them about the fighters they had flying with them and why their markings are different from those we have seen.

That 'ejection system' reminds me of the ADFX-11F from Ace Combat 7, a superfighter which is actually a two-plane formation-a fighter and a micro UAV that can eject and escape with the main control system.  And the connecting 'neck' contains a Tactical Laser System...

This is great man; should I assume anything from the cross-thatched patterning on the armour?

My Khan.

Good news, the Galleon Super-Heavy Freighter CSR Starwise Giant is now fully crewed and operational, and no problems have been found despite the ships age. The ore processing machinery easily fitted in her cargo bays and is in a working condition. We have already assigned Labour and Technician Caste workers to the ship for her initial deployment to RDB/0411. Once in position, we will have a ready made processing and refining base without having to ship anything back to Lum. Merchant Factor Tara (Meer) has proved most capable in organising the JumpShip and DropShip schedule as well as organising crews for the merchant ships.

The fighter reminds me of the MIG fighter in the Clint Eastwood movie Firefox, and the message "Abandon All Hope" is a nice touch to the Chig fighter from Space Above and Beyond series.

I do have to say, all the detailing really shows how big the Titan actually is, we don't see that in the original art.
