Will the real Omega please stand up? (CAV warning)
« on: 23 September 2012, 09:54:05 »
After getting my new Omega Miniature, our gaming group had to try it out. After running 4 games with it, I just still couldn't get over how short he was compared to the other miniatures.  I came up with an alternative CAV version and proceeded to convince myself how much better he fit the new rules (level 3 height, etc).  Now after side-by-side pics, I think all the Omega needs is a double thick base.

In all fairness I freely admit I have a bias for CAV mechs (you have to love 9oz of lead and pewter).  I also really like the Omega artwork and mini as well.  If nothing else I've got a better variety of miniatures at the end of the day.  The CAV game died, but their minis are cheap and heavy metal with something to contribute to Battletech.

They look to be basically the same height.  I think the only difference between them is that the CAV mini's upper legs are vertical and the Omega's are more horizontal.

If you think about it, the perfect merc lives long enough to complete the objective, but not long enough to get paid.
Well, there's an Obi-Wan level point of view comment for you ...  xp

I can't tell what the top guns are, but that's a Thunderbird.

T-Bird + Falcon top guns, I'd say.
Gone.

I actually like them both. Only thing I don't dig are the droopy guns on the Omega. Looks like he lost his Viagra.

Sorry, was out most of the day.

Yes, that is an $11 T-bird with $9 of Falcon cannons up to.

I used a DP9 saw to remove the IFM, which ended up on my Mammoth and Chimera (both copyright Ogre)

I'm going to call the Thunderbird with Falcon cannons either "Blackbird" (sounds CAV-ish) or "Infinity" (sounds Omega-ish)?????
