Howto set up a contested landing scenario?
« on: 16 January 2020, 03:30:53 »
You know, your dropship is coming in hot, under fire. Your fighters are trying to keep the egg safe from the enemy fighters, that kind of thing. You'd have to do it as several linked scenarios, right? One for space, one for atmosphere, maybe one for the actual landing?

Not necessarily.  You could do it as one continuous fight, given that you can transition aerospace units from orbit to upper atmosphere to lower atmosphere to a ground map. Since aerospace units can cover more ground on the high and low altitude maps than ground units, it's easy enough to find an uncontested landing area, which would allow safer landing.  Nothing preventing dropping troops along the way, either.
Think about it.  It's what we do.

In Megamek, you cannot do those map transitions, so yes, you'd have to do space, lower atmo and ground battles separately.
