Well, as per my Facebook, I didn't like a bus driver the other day but I hate them worldwide

the only thing I don't like about the Dutch is they are, almost universally, taller then me

My current theory is that they prepare for the time when the dykes break. A few centimeters can make all the difference.

my thought was that they are all packed in like sardines, that upward is the only direction they have to grow. Planning for the dykes to burst makes sense too

I'd likely irk you also then, being somewhat tall.

Oh I don't know, I've a certain degree of Irish charm to go alongside my English qualities.

It's a good combination with the fairer sex, or at least it was before one of them caught me ;)

Wait, I shouldn't say anything, one of my cousins married a guy of Finnish ancestry.

Well there was alcohol involved, I had to train up to keep up with her when drinking.

The woman could put it away back then.  Of course we're older, wiser and regrettably booze
is obscenely costly now.  Though I still treasure memories like, one new years eve starting around
7ish and being sober again my 11.30.  I reckon 2 pints now and I'd be slaughtered, but I don't miss
drinking regularly much.

My alcohol tolerance has changed - where I used to have a strict 3 pint stomach but would take tactical emptyings to drink through the evening, now I prefer to moderate my intake and pace myself through an evening

Mine has never been high, but it does seem to be growing. (Odd, given how rarely I drink.) Used to be a single beer would get me tipsy. These days, unless it's a particularly strong one I hardly feel it, and while tipsy, am still pretty functional after a second and maybe even a third.

I'm a pretty cheap drunk. it reacts with my meds in such a fashion that, I compare it to one drink hits me like three. Of course it also means I don't stay drunk very long, which can have it's benefits

I look forward to my wife being a cheap drunk again.  For that matter, so does she after nine months of pregnancy.  The next boy arrives in a month and she should be able to consume a quarter glass of wine to get a solid buzz a few weeks after that.  I suspect she's going to want to delve into the expensive stuff that has been stockpiling.  So cheap might be a relative thing.

In other news, my building had no water today.  Eventually we were let off early...at two in the afternoon.  Because it had no water today, it will likely still not have any air conditioning tomorrow.  Have I mentioned I'm considering retiring to find a new line of work sooner rather than later.

Yea, ours is one now, but we never have a chance to drink. I'd imagine we'd both be pretty cheap drunks.

Evil eh, I've dabbled but ultimately it's murder on my ability to sleep.

I'll stick to dabbling in intrigue, although up North being as dull as it is now
it doesn't happen here.  I miss a good proper scrap up there, but all the real
firebrands seem to have disappeared.

Neko, I saw that in a submariner group.

The question, "Where's the adult material?" ::)

But it's no replacement for the stacks of technical manuals. There's much of the knowledge required to build a ship aboard it.

I have a couple of the old "Ship and Gun Drills" from around the First World War in my Google library. It goes into pretty deep detail about how to do things. I guess the older ones even tell you how to make gunpowder and other interesting things.

I had the same reaction to a thread up north, "who is the best player in the world".

If there's any game that you'd have trouble saying that for, it'd be this one.  I was
half tempted to post though, being cheeky and stating my pedigree as half of a
fine two man Mechcommander team.  But I thought better of it, though it did make
me nostalgic.

It might be that the person asking who the best player in the world was is someone with a background in competitive CCGs? I gather there are world tournaments for things like Magic and Yu-gi-oh, so someone might think that there was something similar for BattleTech.

Besides, the best BattleTech player is always the one who brings snacks and shares them.

It's more interesting than optimal, and therefore better. O0 - Weirdo

The best player is the one who enjoys the game the most: me.
