The Jade Blood Jade! Challenge - voting!
« on: 11 February 2013, 00:10:45 »
Okay, as per this thread, there's a totally non-canon contest to determine the form of Clan Jade Falcon's next totem design, the Jade Blood Jade! (exclamation mark not optional).

Three brave contestants have stepped up into the limelight, and now it's your chance to decide whose submission reigns supreme! You have seven days in which to vote, so choose wisely!

(Note: this was just a bit of fun, so enjoy the entries and vote for your favourite!)

Many thanks to our particpants, whose identities will (for the moment) remain shrouded in mystery.

Our submissions are:

Entrant One:

Entrant Two:

Entrant Three:
* No, FASA wasn't big on errata - ColBosch
* The Housebook series is from the 80's and is the foundation of Btech, the 80's heart wrapped in heavy metal that beats to this day - Sigma
* To sum it up: FASAnomics: By Cthulhu, for Cthulhu - Moonsword
* Because Battletech is a conspiracy by Habsburg & Bourbon pretenders - MadCapellan
* The Hellbringer is cool, either way. It's not cool because it's bad, it's cool because it's bad with balls - Nightsky
* It was a glorious time for people who felt that we didn't have enough Marauder variants - HABeas2, re "Empires Aflame"

I liked three the best, personally.
"Well, I do, Marcus, and rule number one of the MAC has always been that the man with the plan leads. If we get shot up, I'm the first one to get my ticket punched. There are no flags in the MAC."
"And there never will be," Barton said, nodding his head in agreement.

"You guys are facing a freaking Shadow Division! These guys have strict policies against playing fair!"

"I don’t care. Kill them. I planned the defense so I know it will work. If they claim otherwise, they’re cowards. Any step back is a betrayal of me, and saying they don’t have enough men is just an excuse for incompetence and disloyalty. so number one is fantastic, so not that there is no love for it, just the missile launcher under the chin would not be to my taste, and the drum is a little on the large side, i could not figure out it was an ammo drum till stated. but amazing amazing work, love seeing you work ST, has been one of the made reasons to push me to finish my own work!

number two just feels like it "fits" right with each other, like when you look at Mr Balks and clanwolfs work, it is so seemless , its looks like  a stock mini!

and not to forgot number 3 , some real cool work there, like a battlemaster on steroids !

I like #1 It looks sweet, but it's too much a Warhawk and not enough of a new mech. The same with #3 too much Hellbringer in it to my eyes for it to get the vote.

Number 1 is the best painted.

Number 2 is the most technically proficient in the mod dept. It also has the advantage of using "Blood" parts which tickles my pun bone.

Number 3 has that Victor-esque quality of the not-squat assault that is so rare nowadays, and it's based on a supersizing of a Blood Spirit design.

It was a tough call to vote on one. O0

All nice mechs.

#3 lacks the look of i will hurt you as the  name suggests.

#2 is very pretty but strikes me more a jag mech or lyran unit.

#1 dolid and lookd to carry more wespons than armor so it gets tbe vote.

Has to be Entrant One, the other two designs look too sensible for the Jade Blood Jade!

Has Wackrabbit ever painted any CAV mechs? None that I can recall. Amalor Myrnyxx has done quite a few, some recently. The submission has CAV parts in it. Another thing, look at the terrain on the base. It is the same for most of what Amalor Myrnyxx does with his mechs. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it is a Amalor Myrnyxx submission.

And the winner is:

Entrant Two: Built by Mr. Balk, painted by Amalor Myrrnyx!

In second place, fresh from the skies over Chelyabinsk, Entrant One: Siberian_Troll!

And in a very creditable third place, and the first time we've seen him in our contests here, Entrant Three: kbasher!

Three big cheers for our three competitors!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words on my Bash. I was just happy to have the oppertunity to place my entrant with entrys from Siberian -Troll and the combined effort of  Amalor + Mr. Balk. I've learned alot from watching theirs and others work here and any tips/tricks they have provided. Not that long ago I painted everything with Enamels to the thickness of armor plating. My thought on the bash was to go for a gunslinger appearence.
If anyone is interested a parts list for the bash is as follows:
1.MW/DA Crimson Hawk head & upper torso. staring at me way to long from the bit box.
2. Legs/lower torso from Mekton Hercules
3. backpack/jumpjet from Hercules
4. arms from a Thor
5. back 1/2 of a Vanquisor gun.
6. Med. lasers from a Fafnir
7. some greenstuff
This oppertunity was alot of fun and it has motivated me to bash/paint more. I already have a JF star finished combining bashes w/ IWM sculpts. Just needs paint  and I will be posting it.
