feedback request - homemade pilot card
« on: 03 February 2019, 14:10:07 »
i had originally posted this yesterday in the art subforum but now that i'm honing in on the final design, i'd like to solicit some feedback

i love the idea of the pilot cards and wanted to make my own, but i'm not a graphic designer nor do i have the graphic design tools to replicate anything approaching the box set cards. here's a sample of what i've whipped up in ms publisher. this is at 150% zoom. at real size it's the same 2.5"x3.5" as the box set cards and the font is essentially the same

most of what i've done is a replication of data found on the official cards - name, skills, bio, mech pic (though i'm using TRO art rather than their cool colorized pics), PSAs (using the same wording as the official cards except in about a dozen instances where they haven't released a card with the ability), and pithy quote.

if your critiques are design-based, keep in mind that there's only so much magic i can work. the only extra piece i've added is down in the lower left corner with the BV2 mod the pilot's skills apply to the mech's BV2. is there any other information as a player you wish the cards had?

after i've applied the suggestions i think i can (or want to  :P), i'll post the publisher file over in the original art thread along with dropbox links to my logo collection for use as backgrounds that i've collected from various sourcebooks so you can make your own and impress your friends0.
