Back of the napkin missile attack changes
« on: 17 February 2019, 11:42:53 »
I’ve long wanted to ditch the cluster hits table. Here’s the embryo of an idea I’ve been kicking around

Take the LRM-15
1: roll as normal to hit
2: split damage into the cluster value (in this case 5) to determine the number of submunitions. In this case 3
3: first group of five hits thanks to the hit roll and strikes a location. Other groups check for lock by rolling 1d6 for each. 1-3 miss 4-6 hit.
4: hit location for sub groups
    5- same location as first
6- one step towards 7 on the hit table (this group strikes closer to center mass)
4- one step toward 3 or 11 (toward arms) do not shift down to 2 or up to 12

SRMs- Roll lock for each missile
Streaks - all lock. Or to make it interesting, do not hit on a lock roll of 1

It would be more interesting with a D10 for a lock roll and getting +2/-2 shifts if you wanted to go that route
