I'm going to go ahead and ban discussion of the media format because people can't keep their frustrations and opinions under control. The subject is barred for now.

I understand the issue has been reported so this is ultimately an unproductive argument.

I don't have MWD purchased but doing the Crowdox account got me a copy of Shrapnel that doesn't have a file corruption at long last.

drool in anticipation of seeing it! Main reason to get 2nd C* unit was the Black Knight.  How different is it from the concept drawing and the original (I really liked the plate-ness of the original, the proportions also seemed right too)

Lemme put it this way: I want a King Crab, but due to a lack of interest in the others I'd decided to try to get one through trading, or wait for IWM.

Even if I didn't want the Crab, that Black Knight alone completely justifies the entire L2.

I hate the ComGuard Clanbuster stuff.  I always thought they were silly to have their own designs--and wondered if it was partly to do with the Unseen issue or partly just to contribute to design bloat in the IP.  These are of course, my own opinions and not thought out or defendable.  Just a gut reaction.  Therefore, I didn't order any of the Level IIs in the clan kickstarter.

But if I've ever seen a reason to spend $30 when the wave two Crowdox opens back up, that mech is it.  Blow your mind excellence right there.  I even prefer the new art by David White  (BLK-NT-5H).  But that mini.  Dear lord, it is absurdly good.  Well done art team.  Well done.

Just remember, thanks to the Recognition Guides every single one of these will have a modern (3150) variant.

Some may be the ComGaurd's last gasp, but I imagine most will be something else entirely.

Can't wait to find out.

The tukayyid book they were in was before the HG lawsuit. And there were all of five. It was customary to include a few new variants in many of FASA’s products. After reinforcements 2 they didn’t really do new RS books until after 96 so it was the main vehicle to get variants out.

Remember that the number of canon variants was small enough to have a complete list of conversions in the BattleForce 2 manual in a few pages.

IIRC the fluff, all the Clanbusters were because the ComGuards found they had a stash of 300 Vlar XLs in one of their storage facilities and decided to use them up refitting their old SL mechs.

Fluff justification is only created after they decide to add the units. The question was why did fasa publish them in the first place - and the answer then as now is that people like new stuff

If you want to see where design bloat kicked in, search the MUL by production era for the civil war and after. All of those were added 2002 and later

What other faction used the same 'mechs for 300 years and didn't make their own variants?
Also, the KS minis have nothing to do with the clanbuster variants specifically. They are built to match the standard/Star League variant. Anything is else it matches would be because that variant also matches the standard/SL variant. Which ComStar still used, even on Tukayyid.

Definitely had to get those Level IIs to play on the Tukkayid maps ... will have to wait to see this Black Knight. The original was bad, the MW4 version good, the MWDA version appalling, the XTRO metal mini lovely. Sounds like this one's a keeper.
