Whose blasting off now?
« on: 25 August 2018, 22:45:26 »
So here's an example of me picking the colors before picking the faction.  Kurita and Davion came to mind first, one for being otaku and the other since they have a habit of throwing warships at things.  Too bad it's a clan era refit.

And yes, it's meant to look like a Pokeball, hence the thread title and line about throwing a ship at another.   ;D

Very nice!

Minor bit: That's not necessarily a Clan mini. 3057 art means it could be either Clan or Star League. It goes like this: 2750 art means Star League. 3057 means Star League or Clan.

pretty much. generally it is assumed that the 2750 art was the appearance of the ship designs as they originally were built, but that by the end to the star league, thanks to design revisions, updated, refits, etc, you also had the 3057 art versions around alongside.

with the Clans having largely switched to the 3057 art versions when they upgraded all their warships to clantech specs.. since they were having to basically dismantle everything but the KF core anyway to install things like harjel and clan DHS based cooling systems, presumably they just decided to rebuild the superstructure and decks to the late star league specs in the process.

why they didn't go further with more armor, more guns, etc on some of then who knows. maybe they didn't want to change the plans too much from SL spec.

Thanks! I always assumed the 3057 versions were clan specific.

Now that looks awesome very neat :)!  Please don't tease me about my obsession over Pokemon.  I do like other stuff, too (but that'll be a different subject matter). ;)
Does the paint job resembles that of a Pokeball? :P  BTW, nice subject title and yes I read the whole first post.

It took me this long to see the resemblance of the 3057 Black Lion to a pokeball.  The ship actually reminds me alot of the cover of an 90s space combat sim, where the ship looks very similar.

I never played Pokemon, and it is still the first thing I though of when I saw it... You are not alone.

I get my mod and paint inspirations from all over pop culture media, so no worries!
