Hello once again!

Sorry to keep the WiGE questions going...

-----

In TW terms, if a wing-in-ground effect unit in flight moves from one hex at a given Elevation to another hex which is 1 point of Elevation higher, it automatically retains its point of Elevation above the new terrain hex, with no additional cost in MP.

When descending into a terrain hex which is 1 or more points of elevation below the hex it is currently in, it can either retain 1 point of Elevation above that of the new hex for no additional MP cost, or pay 2 additional MP per hex in order to "temporarily" pass over that hex at the same Elevation it had previously been - at least until the end of its Movement Phase, at which point it must either reach a hex of within 1 point of Elevation from the one it exited or drop to 1 point of Elevation above whichever lower Elevation hex it finishes its movement over.

However, in my (sixth printing) copy of AS:CE, it appears that a WiGE is not given an exception from the additional 2" of movement cost imposed for 1-inch elevation changes. Nor do I see any references to the kind of "temporary" Elevation retention permitted to WiGEs over in TW.

-----

So, to clarify: under the current incarnation of the AS rules, do WiGEs have to pay 2" of movement for each inch of Elevation (up or down) imposed by the level of terrain it flies over - or does it get the "free" adjustment offered over in TW?

And does AS permit WiGEs to "temporarily" keep the same Elevation mid-movement as they can in TW, or are they obliged to follow the terrain "down" regardless of the drop in Elevation level?

Thank you once again for your time.

There is no rule for free elevation changes for WiGEs in Alpha Strike.
A WiGE that is over 0" ground, that then moves over a 1" high hill, has to pay the elevation change cost for the 1" elevation change (or land as it reaches the hill).
