« on: 28 January 2011, 11:40:08 »

That's debatable, but let's face it; some folks gave them a pass because they were big and claimed to be Scottish.

Most likely after it is done.

Never thought it would be released 'after it's done'

Something with a bit more useful information would be nice

That's all you get for now I'm afraid.  kit's coy answer is his way of saying you'll know when they have product in hand and can release a certain street date.  The response usually goes by the phrase "don't make promises you can't keep".

SOP for the Catalyst group is not to give out any expected dates for book releases until after they are complete (and at the printers, if not afterwards, IIRC)...until that time, all we know is that it is being worked on, and will be released when they have completed it.

This is to help prevent the issues that arise when a promised date is not met for whatever reason.

Catalyst has released books before they they were finished - AToW Beta'd as a PDF.

What has Catalyst been tweeting about about lately? I don't follow anymore, but that seemed to give a pretty good idea of what's currently in the works and where in the process it is.

in the battletech universe Handbook House Liao is the main focus right now (look at the main page a little later).  I seem to remember some minor rumblings about historical: reunification war, and Intersteller Ops as well.

This reminds me of when I sold computers: "It's here when it's here, and it's not here before then."

And when it's here, I'm fairly confident it will have few errors because they're taking their time to do it right.

Well, my guess is QIII-QIV. Maybe even sometime around GenCon, if we're lucky. As I understand it, the next three big 'print' products are Handbook: House Liao, Era Report: 3062 and Historical: Reunification War, so these probably will be the only major releases in the first half of the year.

Keep in mind that "when it's done" isn't just a tease, it's also a promise. Catalyst doesn't sit on finished products unless there are outside influences at play; as soon as they can get the book finished and released, they will.

I think the reason why "when it's done" despite being perfectly legit as a time frame, is born from the 12 year development period of Duke Nukem Forever, who used "when its done" as its release date between 1999 all the way until a release date of May 5th of this year was announced last week.

Maybe they have to wait until the Jihad is actually over. There may be some people still RPing it.   ::)
