The Society versus the MD!
« on: 13 November 2011, 21:00:20 »
A what if scenario cooked up by our mad crew in DFW Arlington.

The Society and the Word of Blake Manei Domini faced off today.  Metal clashed, bodies were thrown about, and fun was had!

The Society set up: Pariah, two Osteons, and some Protomechs.

The MD's Celestials and various Battle Armors such as Purifiers.

The Clanner Society forces played a defensive role with the Sunder Proxy for a Osteon lobbing Mech Mortars whenever possible. (I love those things!  Granted they do run a bit warm for my tastes.)  :)

The Blakists kept pushing forward even though they lost the initiative quite a bit.  The Clanners ultimately lost a point of Protos, a Pariah, and some more Hobgoblins.

The Robes lost nearly a squad of Battle Armor when I discovered they were allergic to mortars.  :)
This was pretty much the final turn when we had to wrap it up.

Fun time had by all!  [rockon]

A what if scenario cooked up by our mad crew in DFW Arlington.

why thank you :D

i thought things went pretty well, even if we didn't get that far.  in all honesty i was surprised by how favorably things were going for my fellow Domini... we never even got hit by any of those ATM-EMP rounds, which is probably what i was most worried about.  the Mortars were pretty brutal, but probably would have been worse with air-bursting munitions... between those two Osteons i was expecting alot more damage to our BA forces.  the Asuras aren't bad suits, though.

as mentioned earlier, i think it was the ProtoMechs that slowed us down the most.  resolving fire for fifteen of those things ended up being more of a nightmare than i had thought.  i might be able to tweak the scenario a bit to make it play faster, even if it isn't as "accurate" as the current one.

if anyone is looking to play this game out, i would be happy to give out the record sheets i made for the mechs and the Hobgoblin Proto.  i had tried to make some of the others using Paint.net, but frankly i didn't have enough space in the ProtoMech charts to list all the armor and structure.  i ended up having to settle for the LRM 12 Minator in place of the Sprite and... now i cant remember, lol.  i think it was the duel-AP Gauss Hydra.  i'm kinda burned out at the moment.

It was a fun game, but I would advise anyone trying to replicate it to avoid the Archangel and focus on something you can kill quickly. Also remeber that Society units tend to be light weight, so don't plan on going head to head with anything. Both tactical errors I made based off of LoS issues.

And whistler, they were the dual AP Gauss Hydras.

It does indeed seem like a fun game.

Will have to poke my MD player about making it  happen out this way.

Good to know the mech mortars are doing well against BA.

One note for people wanting to play this game. We ran the Protomechs 5 to a Point, rather than 3 to a Trey.

Of course the MD were winning. Everybody knows tech support is tougher than R&D due to years of customer interaction! :D And Society Protos are actually 9 to a Trey, with three per Un.

That and simplicity. I think he already had the sheets made by the time the Un-Trey-Sept question was answered.

Tell that to the Battle Armor. They seemed to find that R&D's budget leads to some very impressive (and painful) results.

i'm glad i used standard points too, because i would have put that together wrong... and it would have been even more of a nightmare.

the main reason for the use of standard points was the record sheets themselves.  i edited a blank Proto RS to the best of my abilities in Paint.net, so the standard 5-point deployment was logical.  i also had to use standard Protos in place of the Sprite and Bogard, as there are no advanced Proto sheets and i couldn't fit enough bubbles into a regular Proto chart.

Especially when I'm also considering playing Society?
