A PC game of a relevant genre has occupied all of my time recently.

What are you playing C-6 ?

The last year of my life has been mostly the occasional game of Starcraft-2, but I'm always curious to hear what others are doing.

My best friend just showed me something called Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes and app game for phone/tablets.

It looks interesting but also VERY addictive & time consuming.

Similar in terms of being turn-based and controlling from outside a lance of 'Mechs?
Different enough that you don't spend ages agonising over the maths and probabilities?

You gents are missing out.  It is a solid port with a few tweaks that make it better.  Lots of the fun.

From watching the intro on line it seems like a bit of a cross between Mega Mech & Mech Commander & I must say looks pretty nice.

I have not purchased it yet but I think I will be.

I've got it through the Kickstarter technically, I just haven't downloaded it yet because I need to first clean enough minis off my desk that I have decent keyboard access, and second find out if my computer will even run it.

The new game has its strengths.  I have ::lurked:: for a bit onsite for the last 7 years since passing the Mod torch, but this dang Battletech video came has awoken my latent interest again and has MADE me visit this site at least 4 days a week.  Evil I say! Next thing I will be painting again...

Now I must go kill Capellans to raise my Taurian rep again.... I mean burn the game.

So it's not an FPS like the Mechwarrior series?  Interesting.

Nope, check out some of the demos on Utube.

The best way I can describe it is a mix of MegaMech & MechCommander.

You move your units slowly 1 at a time by initiative like in MegaMech, but, they are live 3D & shooting graphics & such like in MechCommander.

I would compare it to that StarWars/Chess like game on the Falcon in the movies.

Your moving 3D images around & seeing them fight but using simplified versions of TW rules in the game engine.

Or something like that.

Just bear in mind, right now there's a fair few improvements
in planning.  They're looking to broaden choice for mechs
early game, and extend campaign viability for medium mechs
too.  Both steps, are necessary.

I'm on my second play through atm, at no point when they
were useful....did I get my hands on an Enforcer  ???  Which
made me sad.

Scaling wise, you do get to a point where you're desperate
for heavy mechs and then onwards the same with assaults.

It remains despite the things mentioned above, a great game
and a long overdue pleasure.  MWO was too grindy and too
removed from the actual system for my tastes.

AW, missed your birthday.  Sorry and belated best wishes.

to realise we were all getting worked up about 3145, five years ago?

It makes me rather sad, as cliffhangers go this one is working into a
Duke Nukem Forever sort of scene.

So last week, my youngest (4) announced that his Transformers: Robots in Disguise Menasor has a shadow. I said that most things have a shadow to which my oldest (6) responded, "except the Sun."

He followed that flash of brilliance with, "But ooh, the table has a shadow!"

I hope you all are well.

I wish they'd bloody well get a move on with the timeline.

That and bring down the current golden children of this universe,
down several notches.  It's been resurgent DC, CC and their Clan
shadows for what seems forever.  I'd like to see us and the Elsies,
get back towards where we belong.

Whatever we've been hiding out in the dark side of the Periphery

I resemble this remark somewhat.  I honestly find more interest in the lead up to the 4th Succession War than anything afterwards.  I'd be perfectly happy with 3025 if battlearmor were a standard.

Less stick-in-the-mud-sounding, I agree with both Rorke's sentiments: Elsie/Davie rising and moving things along.
