Usually the reverse of that for my childhood.  Wait all week for ST TNG for example, and then they pull it
for bloody Cricket or Athletics.

I'd never heard of that Heidi incident, but it makes sense to me.  I can fully understand, how angry all those
folks watching it would be.  We had that show repeated ad infinitum on British telly in the 70s and 80s too.  I
regarded it as a child, as the then TV equivalent of todays "chick flicks".

To this day I save a special place of contempt, for TV schedulers.  It's just under the hate I have for PE teachers.

So you never got to see the episode of Star Trek where they spend three of four acts playing cricket, and the fourth having tea in the pavilion?

Isn't that the one where we find out at the end that the whole thing was an electroshock hallucination brought on after Worf got his foot stuck in Data's chest following an attempted roundhouse kick?

You're thinking of DS9.  And it wasn't Data, it was Mirror Odo.

Sounds as dull as watching Crown Green Bowling, which is a thing they used to actually televise.  It's even more dull than clothes shopping with my
Mother.  An activity to this day that still frightens me immensely, thankfully not one I have to endure in my adulthood.

No, you are both wrong. That one ends with Q trying to convinces other Q that Picard is French even though he quotes Shakespeare at length and seems to have a British accent. Other Q just laughs about it especially after the rousing game of cricket against Commander Tomalak and several confused Romulans. It also features a blooper that was left in the episode where Andreas Katsulas storms off saying that he's going to Babylon 5 after that dribble. Wait, what were we talking about?

The problem with most sports is that they are a lot more fun to play than to actually watch. However, shopping for clothes with your female relatives is never fun for probably 93% of all men in the universe because it is absolutely boring. It should take five minutes. Find something you like, and if it fits both the budget and your frame, you buy it and go do something fun like go to a model shop that has that model of the USS Enterprise. But no, it is off to another clothing store where your older sister tries on dresses for what feels like eons, and if you move, you absolutely know that will be punishable. And then to top it off, they drag you to a tea room where they coo over cucumber sandwiches. And that is why I stay away from vice now. For I have seen Hell, and it worse than anything put to verse by Dante or any since.

I'd be happy to spend all day, nay all week, shopping for clothes with my girlfriend.  Mostly because that would mean I had a girlfriend (a condition rare as horse feathers for me personally), and also I get to see a pretty girl trying on clothes.

shopping with girlfriends is worlds different than shopping with female relatives. Thankfully, I had a wise and understanding mother who let me alone to decide what I wished for clothes, and from the age of five or so I never really had to suffer much.

Ahhh I just began to settle on things I liked, and refused anything I didn't.

From my late teens until now it's been black 501s and DM boots, usually topped
off with a T Shirt from some indie bank I like.  Not really fitting my aristocratic
image here I admit.  I've never been fashionable, and I've never been all that
unfashionable.  Neither status remotely concerns me.

By the way such talk of Star Trek, this morning I was listening to a Frank Black
album.  On said work of might, was a song about the Architect David Vincent
from the 60s show The Invaders.  Loved that show when I was a kid, it was
rerun on UK TV frequently during the 80s and 90s.

comfort trumps fashion. Which is why I am wearing black sweatpants today. It is cold out and I want to be comfortable

I've taken to wearing solid-color versions of BDU pants instead of jeans and khakis.  So much more comfortable, and they come in a wide range of solid colors (black, dark gray, light gray, navy, OD green, tan, brown) in addition to several camp patterns that I have no use for.  And I've found that nonmilitary folks rarely notice that the tan pants I'm wearing are anything but regular khakis.

I wear khakis when it's warmer (spring to fall), but cold wind means that polyester isn't really that comfortable.

It's often amusing to me, to see such conversations about weather variation.  Sometimes
I forget how bloody big, the States actually is.

Your country isn't much larger than my current home state.

But the United Kingdom has around 12 times the population.

Oops, unrealised typo - I'd meant to say dense geography rather than sense geography

It also wasn't meant to be a politically charged comment

You mean you weren't arguing that some geography is denser than others? Because personally, I've always thought that granites were far more machievellian than sedimentary rocks.

It's more interesting than optimal, and therefore better. O0 - Weirdo
