Why are people still picking the Chiefs?

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

The Jets are surprisingly mediocre.

For a team that I thought was 3-13 if they were lucky, I've been surprised and impressed by them. Maybe not a powerhouse team, but a lot better than expected. Note too that a couple of their losses, like the one to Jacksonville, were very VERY close ones that could have just as easily gone the other way.

And New England with the whole touchdown to touchback thing.

I hate that touchback rule. It makes no sense to penalize a team for getting closer to the endzone.

There's no shortage of NFL rules that make zero sense. That's near the top, for sure.

But how good of the NFL's officiating crews to make sure to display that wide range of rules so often! Every other play gets a yellow-flagged showing-off now!

The number of people going on Denver sports sites and screeching for the Broncos to bring in Eli Manning for next season is deafening. And batshit-stupid.

I've seen it, but I've also seen assumptions that Kirk Cousins isn't staying with Washington and only has Denver as a logical destination as well.

That move just... eh. It makes sense in that he's a clear improvement from the three stooges currently in Denver. He's also not a clear improvement in terms of the amount of money he'll be drawing in. The price has been set high by Snyder, and while he's not a bad QB he's also not exactly Drew Brees, you know?

Thing to remember: The three-headed blundernaut that is the Denver QB corps right now, bad as it is, is also cheap. Neither Siemian nor Lynch earn a great deal per year, and while Osweiler does he's earning most of it via Cleveland's payroll. It may be a difficult sell to bring in someone as high-priced as Cousins, even if we assume at least one of these three is gone by training camp (Osweiler, most likely- Lynch probably buys more time and another chance by dint of being drafted so high and recent). Bear in mind that Denver's GM position is pretty solid- it's hard to conjure, even as bad as this team is, that they'd fire JOHN ELWAY. But ownership is a little different- Pat Bowlen has advance Alzheimer's disease, and his son is currently steward of the team, but whether he'll be interested in throwing a lot of money at a QB is anyone's guess.

Strange times in the Mile High City, for sure. Even in the McDaniels era, I can't think of the team having this many big question marks hanging over it.

I wholeheartedly agree.  When Eli leaves he will be taking I-95 due south to Jacksonville and rejoin with Tom Coughlin. He's up there in age and he's highly overrated. He's claim to fame is denying Brady two more SB victories.

Ben McAdoo is now Ben McAdon't as he and Jerry Reese were given their walking papers today. I wonder if Steve Spagnuolo will take over for the last 4 games.

Yeah, they made it official that Spags is the coach for the duration.

What ISN'T clear is whether Eli gets his starting job back or not.

I was worried the Eagles were spending a little too much time practicing their group celebrations.  With any luck 2 losses on the season now won't cost them the #1 seed, and  last night will have slapped a reality check in place.

While Seattle did play heck of a game, especially defensively, the Eagles could have come away with a win if they could have just completed a couple plays that they failed on.
