Light Artillery Aerodyne Dropship Revelation.

The revelation is called so because with this much artillery your certain to have a Divine Revelation as you go to meet you maker.

The Revelation is a 5900 ton aerodyne dropship. Good armor. 5/8 Speed. Decent endurance. All 4 faces have 4 twin Laser AMS, 5 twin ER Large lasers, and 2 single LB X-2 autocannons with 20 tons of ammo each. The nose however has the main armament and reason this craft exists. The nose has 20 Long Tom Artillery Batteries. Each gun has 30 tons of ammo equal to the weight of the gun. With this much spare ammo the long tom can afford to fire at suspected targets. With this many guns it can ensure hits by making multiple adjacent map sheets disappear. Meant to be a fast relocating artillery battery that can defend itself.

I don't know about this one, I'd actually rather have ten mobile howitzers I can distribute as needed rather than on one platform. Cruise Missiles would be better choices for a dropship based bombardment platform as they can affect a really wide operational area with catastrophic damage. Long Toms in dropships are IMO better used sparingly in support of smaller raids and preferably using copperheads and TAG

Can you fire actual Artillery while airborne?  I thought it was only Artillery Cannons that could do that...

Presumably it lands and faces the threat as you are correct Daryk. Capital Missiles though, those can fire air to ground and make their carriers very dangerous strategic threats.

Given the difficulty of landing an aerodyne vertically, I'm not sure that's entirely workable.

All you need is a large enough highway controlled by small craft 'glider' troops to land it horizontally. Once landed you can just launch ordnance out the side of the strategic strike 'bomber', 'mobile silo', 'ballistic/cruise missile assault dropship,' 'siegebreaker,' etc...

Missiles, of either the sub-cap, cap, or cruise variety. Potentially nuclear ones because I really want to see if Nike Hercules was actually a viable SAM and use those Weapons of Mass Destruction rules in Interstellar Ops because missiles defense doesn't protect from a near range nuclear airburst.

Nope you do that out the back with WiGE 'Gliders' or deliver them groundside using trans-atmospheric shuttles. If you're on the defensive you probably have some airfields kept ready in strange places just like NASA did for the Space Shuttles.
