Just had a quick look at his website and it says this:
Quote
Coming in 2018  - Blaine Pardoe returns to writing BattleTech with the release of a new BattleTech novel - Forever Faithful. "This book crosses several of the BattleTech eras, starting with the Twilight of the Clans.  We will see some of the BattleTech universe's key characters as I fill in a critical piece of BattleTech history." Mr. Pardoe is being elusive as to the storyline.  "I don't want to ruin the book for readers before they see it.  There's going to be some shock value in the story and the characters...and I don't want to tip folks off too early."

So I do think there is a good chance it could be the story of the Fidelis.

I don't know as the story has to involve a lot of powerful characters I think. There is Stone who himself is one of the most influential if misunderstood characters in the universe as well as his legacy with the Republic. You have the 5 hidden worlds and if they're tied to the Wolverines in some way. Also, you have the two WoB archs that are unresolved, the regular WoB and the fate of Cameron St. Jamais as well as the Shadow Divisions/MD remnants. Plus, you have the issue of First Lord of a reborn Clan Star League. Kurita would NEVER accept any clan as First Khan/Lord of a Clan Star League considering Kurita's claim to rule the galaxy goes back to the Terran Alliance. The other 4 houses are equally just as power hungry. Plus, we have the most important aspect of this if it constitutes the end of the "Dark Age" as it's possible the HPG network will be back in action.

Also, will there be another "Master" to take the place of the fallen one?

eh . . . WoB remnants will be the old Wolverines, Kurita's family tree got drastically pruned so I am not sure they have all the old hubris- especially if she can get out from under the warlord.

Don't forget the home clans, deep periphery places like the imperio, all the minor nations like the marians, taurians, who will run the hpgs in the future since EVERYONE hates Comstar for good reasons, etc. Hell, maybe we can find out who Stone really is. (besides an ancient brain damaged former popsicle)

Seems like there are a lot of threads to work with going forward.

Who Stone is doesn't really matter. What he did matters.
IIRC, this is more or less the TPTB stance, or at least was before the change of line dev. I doubt this has changed though.

The only cases where his past may matter is that if he was a Clanner (extremely unlikely) given the attitude of some people towards Clanners, or if he was Arthur Steiner-Davion, since people might have issues with another Steiner-Davion running a super-nation. But the latter theory, even if originally intended, is likely not true. (Since it is indicated ASD is alive plus considering certain canon-rumor about him, i reckon ASD might be part of any WoB remnants fled from the Inner Sphere at the end of the Jihad, if there are any.)

So, he is just a nobody that made something big. It happens sometimes. And it is a change to the usual in BT, where most people who do big things have important lineage as well.

I hope they drop a Rey's parents on Devlin Stone and reveal he is a nobody. Heck, I hope ilClan ends up very similar to Star Wars Episode VIII (breaking fans expectations and move away from old characters)!

Spoilers

so what your saying is the Republic is on the run in their last Warship from the IlClan. The IlClan is chasing them down in their Grand Fleet. The Republic launches a fighter sortie that disrupts them but a rogue Clan pilot slams into the bridge wounding grievously Devlin Stone. The Republic jumps away but can't outrun the IlCln even with their LF batteries. So some Ghost Knight and his sidekick decide to enlist a rogue ex-ComStar acolyte to hack into the IlClans HPG network and disrupt it buying time to get the fleet away, all before their Warship runs out of fuel. One misadventure later and the Ghost Knight is captured and Devlin Stone jumps the Warship and Ancestral Home's the IlClans flagship , a Leviathan III. The Ghost Knight escapes , killing the IlLhan in the process but the Republic Rememants are trapped on a planet their last Dropships without a Jumpship. Devlin Stone wakes up and duels the new IlKhan to buy time for an independent Jumpship to refuel and the Rememants to get away. Setting the path for IlClan III where the Ghost Knight Strikes Back?

I have speculated that Stone is actually a Claner, the parallels between a Clan('s) Council electing a Khan and how a Primarch is selected/elected by Paladins has interesting parallels and I believe that the WoB was keeping Smoke Jaguar prisoners in the camps he came from ...

If the Fidelis reject absorption and get smashed during the ensuing war, I hope they go out with a bang. My beloved ELH already got grinded up by the falcons, I don't want the Fidelis to get snuffed too easily.

Yeah. It would be frustrating if the Fidelis went down. Especially since they currently haven't done much.

I wonder if the Republic can rep being a clan for a fight. They had a bunch of units gifted to them. Not just Nova Cats.
