Belated New Years greetings Gents.

I became somewhat disenchanted just now, foolishly I took a look up north.  Why people
have to shove their AU stuff in the SS section, I don't get....or like.  But I digress.

Wait, they do? I just see them in the "Unread Posts' section, so I don't always see what section they're in. If it's not Empires Aflame, report the post so we mods can move 'em to the non-canon section.

So, I guess I'm a little behind on products, "Empires Aflame" is basically an official AU?

Yup. Long story short, the PCs are in a misjump, and wind up in an alternate universe where Kerensky was killed just prior to announcing the Exodus, and DeChevalier decided to stick around and preserve the Hegemony instead. Lots of universe-building information in it.

I imagine half the RP campaign is coming to the realization that you are in a parallel universe.

I'm surprised the medical staff assessing you didn't just pass you through on grounds of professional courtesy.  Like how snakes won't bite lawyers. ;D

Somewhat to my shock, I got an email from the Army already

At the moment it looks like Army Officer Selection Board in June and if I pass that my first block of training in Jan 2016

At least that gives me plenty of prep time

Hey, I know we've got a submariner on board, but does this thread really need to sink any deeper?  aren't we approaching never-exceed-depth here?

We may be in an AFFSHQ thread, but this is still the Hall. The whole point of this forum is to plumb new depths.

No real excuse here either.  My retirement date is close to being set: 01 July 2016.    My youngest is crawling, my oldest is antagonizing, and the wife is contemplating going back to work.  I need to figure out when I'm going to start working on my project management professional certificate.

I'm not scheduled to finish my medical training and get my Certificate of Completion of Training until October 2016 - I started medical school in 1999 and graduated/started working in 2004 to put that into context

Ah, you're like most Naval Aviators.  I was heading home from my second of three back to back deployments when my college roommate was on his first as an F-14 backseater.  I already had 13 months underway before my sailor buddy had had his first. Of course, your career ceiling is much higher than ours.

Still proofreading for the State Legislature, and boy do they need it sometimes.  I've got an interview tomorrow for seasonal work with the state Parks & Tourism Department.  They've got a range of positions at various parks from 3-9 months, hopefully I not only get offered a job, but get offered one of the ones I really want.  I'm not exactly sure how they decide who goes where, hopefully we get some input.

Thin ice, guys, thin ice...

Well, I need to share this, it looks like my younger son (16 y.o.) will get himself a topnotch business to do his professional in. That's a wine bottling factory - apparently world leader in their category -, which gives students a good opportunity to make a cereer in their ranks. You wouldn't believe all the high tech stuff they're using just to put wine into various sorts of containers (if you've ever bought a "bag in a box " of wine, that's their creation... I haven't personally, the staunch traditionalist in me needs a branded Chateau bottle eh eh). Funniest part were their fully automated self moving carts to ferry palettes. I jumped out of the way, needlessly apparently as I was told they had elaborate sensors to avoid collisions. I did not want to put it to the test though...  ;D

At any rate, I am really happy for my kid. If he does not mess up, of course, he has a lot of trouble cut off for him.  ;)

I think they're planning the same technology in the magazines of the new RN carriers - huge amounts of automation

Very pleased for your son (and you if this reduces anxieties and worries about him!)
