That's what I'm afraid of happening.  Incidentally, I was contemplating heading north to support you in the true RCT thread but the responses ventured away from the collegiate tenor I favor.  Good example with the Royal Regt of Canadian Artillery.

Thanks. Even just moral support is always welcome.

Unfortunately, I've tilted at the windmill of regiments vs. brigades to include the combat teams thereunto pertaining far too many times.  It is one of those, "if you don't get it, you don't get it," type of things (with apologies to the Washington Post and their current ad campaign).

Pretty much why my long planned FedSuns Planetary Militia will be a brigade of four combat battalions, artillery battalion, support battalion, and HQ (about battalion strength).

And then setting up a wet navy militia based on my reserve commitment.  :D

Well, there would be Construction, Security, Supply, Medical, Repair, Intelligence, and Command Sections. And a small ship or two.

We're supplying LCS crew types, so I don't feel as bad for having that group in there.

As for the set up for the Planetary Militia, I'm borrowing from GURPS Traveller: Ground Forces for the organization above the company level.

You're not going to base the militia primarily on Boomers?   :)

I have trouble seeing any Space Craft manned similarly to a submarine.

They all have too much space.

Elbow room. The average DropShip has a density similar to liquid hydrogen.

And it caries a lot of liquid hydrogen. I bet they get to shower more as well.

I could take a Navy Shower every day. On occasion, they'd allow traditional showers if they'd . I'm wondering about the Reverse Osmosis units and potable water production though...

One of the benefits of amphibs, lots of water production. While not a traditional shower it sure beat wet wipes in the field.

Anyone have big plans for the weekend?  Here, potty training starts in earnest today.  Hooray, parenting.

I've resembled that remark. I'm watching my pair roll on the floor while the wife runs to the pharmacy. High stress around here I tell you.

I was down playing Navy.

So I went into a department store yesterday evening (girlfriend was having fun with her friends), and since I'm looking at new dress shoes and a good pair of boots, I saw they were selling the brand that's the majority of military boots and shoes over here.

And it was a model that I'm rather surprised to see, since it was removed from use when they changed the Navy's uniforms.

Old stock or still being made for civilian market?

Today I need to mostly be writing a Masters dissertation proposal but have an appointment with my doctor to do paperwork for my attempts to join the Army... because my application has dragged on so long that my last set of paperwork "expired". I haven't been to see the doctor since my last set of paperwork. Farcical.

Being made for the civilian market. I just might get a pair for myself at some point.

I'm starting my commission application soon. I finish my degree in May.

I'm going for PQO commission - Professionally Qualified Officer

I think I'd start as a Major once training complete but no one will mistake me for a "real" officer fortunately

Pretty much.

There's a Hospital Corpsman at the center I've gotten to know since he was at the same University as me for a while. He complains about how bad the doctors are as officers, and that what they need is someone who knows Navy stuff in that unit as an officer.

I had to tell one that his ribbons were backwards.

I took some holiday time... and managed to write a Masters Dissertation Plan in 3 days flat, followed by an actual trip away (to Exeter in Devon) which was nice but filled with seeing friends with small people, followed by a brain-crushingly-intensive 3 day Masters module (same Medical Leadership MSc)

Going back to work almost felt like a holiday!

How's everyone else?

Spent the weekend with my girlfriend.

We did Thanksgiving Brunch with my parents, dinner with portions of her extended family, where I know nobody (both sides of hers are large Catholic farm families). Black Friday was spent being lazy. Yesterday we did pictures at her folks place with cats, and mine is a horrible traveler (meowing the whole way)
