It was easy! We just found these guys in a bar that worked for a local show called...Mythbusters, was it?...and got them drunk enough to take a bet.

And to expand on the topic: besides other Demolishers, what is your favorite teammate for a Demolisher.

And you can vary the answer by:

Demolishers in city defense
Demolishers in non-urban terrain in a defensive mode
Demolishers on the offense in either mode.
I enjoy vehicle platoons of the form

Schrek
Schrek
Schrek
Demolisher (preferably hiding on a reverse slope where the other three are hull-down)

You want to charge my firesupport?  Yes, go right ahead.  Say hello to their friend with the AC20s while you're over there.  It's also fun with 3 gauss demolishers and one regular one.  Or three LRM Carriers and an SRM Carrier.

Demolisher babysitters, they charge by the hour.

In a city defense, for standard technology play, SRM carriers seem to form a nice one two punch with standard Demolishers.  2 AC/20's followed by 10 SRM'6's..you might get a critical or two out of that.

I'd go for a lance of two Demolishers, one SRM Carrier, and 1 LRM Carrier. Demos take point and open holes, SRM Carrier fills 'em, and the LRM carrier hangs back a street and pours down indirect fire. Fun for the whole family!

Demolisher II, Alacorn, Rommel Howitzer, Partisan. It's got something for everyone! Alternately, swap the Demo II for a Demo Arrow IV.

Sort of wish the Feddies had put some RAC/5s instead of the 20s.

That is a Pike variant, IIRC.

The Pike RAC variant carries RAC/2s, and being 60 tons, can't really compare to a Demolisher. The Partisan does however have a version that carries a pair of RAC/5s with a pair of LB-2s, and another variant that carries four RAC/2s.

It also carries my own imagined minimum requirement of sixty shots per gun. I really don't like the designs that have a RAC as the main weapon and I have to watch my ammo.

Anyway what they really should do is take an LRM Carrier or SRM Carrier and strips the launchers off of it and replace them with RACs and call it the RACarrier 8)

P.S.

60 points average damage, compared to 80 for the SRM carrier... Of course it only gets enough ammo for a grand total of 4 salvos at full RoF!

I could see a Demolisher rigged with a RAC to replace one of its guns, but would anyone use it?

I would, in a heartbeat. I ginned up a "salvage-expedient field re-fit" Demolisher with a RAC-5 replacing one gun and used it in a pickup game on my kitchen table a few years ago. It was great fun but I don't recall too many details since the beer and pretzels ratio may have been a little heavy on the beer that night.

I'd take a Gauss Demo with one of the rifles swapped for a Silver Bullet version though. Or maybe just twin Silver Bullet gauss. Mixed into lances of regular gauss Demos, it would be like having a bunch of LB-15x that reaches out a hex even further than the LB-5x

New Inner Sphere Childrens show.  Thomas the Demolisher and Friends.

Based on Shooting Time Station in the Isle of Rodos, these loveable engines of destruction teach children valuable lessons while utterly obliterating pirates and other menaces to the planet.  Laugh along as Thomas grinds infantry under his treads to a happy song.  Under the command of Colonel R. Starr, this cheerful band of death machines will teach your children to laugh, play, and how to assume proper hull down positions with mmutually supporting and interlock fields of fire in an urban environment!

The Russians in WWII had books on how much weight certain thicknesses of ice could take so they knew if they could cross a frozen lake or not. A recent Valentine wreck was recovered from a lake because they judged wrong. I imagine that if it came to Hellbie and taking a tank across ice, a similar fate would befall said tank.

This is why Hellbie then flips the circumstances and declares an attack against the tank while playing the ice.  He misses, attack fails, tank moves on untouched.

I loved that moment. ;D

I'm playing the IS, and my Clan opponent races a Fire Falcon around a mountain, only to run face-to-face with a pair of Demolishers. He's carrying Elementals, so he figures that between those and his speed mods, he might actually survive this salvo (BMR rules at the time).

All four AC/20s hit, and all four strike a different limb, bypassing the ablative toads completely. We're left with a legeless and armless Fire Falcon, that can do nothing more for he rest of the game, but do an impression of a beached fish. It was awesome. ;D

My other favorite use for a Demolisher is as a Protomech hunter. Many of those buggers have to close to intro-tech ranges to fight, so you're hardly at a range disadvantage. Load your tanks up with precision ammo, and charge a pair straight at a suitable proto point. With your ammo negating much of the movement mods, you can easily afford to split your shots, and wipe out the better part of a full Point in a single salvo. >:D

Thanks for the suggestion RE: Proto hunting!

As a horses and spirits collector am I correct in assuming that the C variant would be used in an offensive front line role?
