Republic decals
« on: 22 October 2019, 15:38:23 »
Aside from learning to do them myself, does anyone sell decals for the Republic of the Sphere or any of its units?

Fighting Piranha Graphics has them.
My wife writes books
"Thanks to Megamek, I can finally play BattleTech the way it was meant to be played--pantsless!"   -Neko Bijin
"...finally, giant space panties don't seem so strange." - Whistler
"Damn you, Weirdo... Damn you for being right!" - Paul
"...I was this many years old when I found out that licking a touchscreen in excitement is a bad idea." - JadeHellbringer
"We are the tribal elders. Weirdo is the mushroom specialist." - Worktroll

The website is not up to date. They are working on a new up-to-date one but it will likely be awhile as it is all volunteer work.

Best bet is to message them on Facebook and ask if they have them made available or not.

I think you're mistaking FPG for Camospecs. FPG announced they have a company making the website. They asked the customers to send in pics of their decals in use.

Could very well be yes.

After finding the decal making kit by Testors in Walmart, I never bought decals again. I can now print out any sized decals of any unit that has graphics (I use the sets found in the Heavy Metal program, but just about any can be found online now). I now buy clear and white-base decal sheets from Amazon, and use a generic clear spray sealer.
PHawk with 8th Arkab Legion insignia. The decal is about 1/8 inch.

Tried it too. But unless you are using some kind of Vector Graphics Software to create your images, they don't come out anywhere near as good as FPG. I did the Stormbringers both on my own and through FPG, and three guesses which set came out better. And it wasn't even close.

Might depend on your source image as well.  I got the images online,  and sized and placed them using open office.   I'm limited to B/W decals only.  Haven't tried any Battletech ones however.

White backing for decals is important so surface color doesn't  show through. You can get white decal paper but you have to be really careful cutting them out or white will show around the edges. Much easier for me to order from FPG when I need them. Their printer can print a white backing.

Unless I'm submitting models or figs for competition, I don't even bother with decals. When I used to build model aircraft, I would airbrush the larger insignia, using custom templates, because no decals could match the look.
