Title: Adepticon
Post by: I am Belch II on 02 February 2020, 11:00:29
Just wonder if IWM will ever make it to Adepticon?? ITs a great convention and only a couple of hours away from Cincinnati??

I love Adepticon for the large but small con aspect, and IWM may do really good at that convention.

I know Mike and Chuck (2 of the IWM Booth workers) travel from VA to work Gen Con.  I think they work Origins and Historicon as well.  They have "Day Jobs" they have to take time off for for those Cons, so that probably limits them on what Conventions they can work.  I know Speck works GC, but I'm not sure where he lives, or if he makes the other Conventions or not.   :-\

I'm Guessing that "Booth Help/Worker Availability" is a HUGE part of the Factor for what Conventions IWM and CGL attend.

Imagine Gen Con without the Demo Agents!   :o  Sure, I think CGL pays for their badges and lodging, but they have to travel their on their own dime.  I know a few come from Canada, and some Probably come from each Coast as well.  Travel costs aren't cheap, but the CGL Volunteers do it because they Love it!

I've "Bumped Heads" with some of them a time or two online, but I'm GLAD they volunteer at Gen Con!

Not sure Adepticon is big enough for them to be worth it, but with Catalyst making an appearance last year, who knows?

When Jim ran the IWM booth he made it to a few Adepticon shows, but he had to trim shows he went to back due to costs and time away. With Mike Varney running it now and being even farther away from there then Jim since he was in Cincinnati I doubt he would be adding it any time soon. I will be updating what conventions Mike Varney will be at with IWM booth and also the smaller shows he goes as BVTraders (with some IWM stuff).

Thanks for the updates. Adepitcon is getting larger and will probably be over 7000 this year....sure no where near a Gen con. The smaller size makes it a great con. But with Golden Demon Awards being a Warhammer it might not be worth it.

Thanks for all the updates.

IWM made an announcement a few years back that Mr. Fox was "Parting Ways" (?) with them, so he could concentrate more fully on his own business.  That was back around 2015/2016 or so though.  Been a few years back now.

The man was GREAT to work with, regarding getting LOTS of stuff at Gen Con, for myself and others.     Speck stepped in and "filled his shoes" the last few times I needed it.

I stopped getting stuff for others, because some were just to much of a PITA to work with.   xp

Speck, what happened to Jim?

He sold his business and is working for the company that purchased it. So his ability to go to conventions representing IWM shrank due to job change. So Mike Varney took over around 3 years ago.
