This is one scary quad protomech.

What exactly is the advantage of biped protomech when quad protomech can carry bigger gun with more speed besides that quad mech can drive their user insane faster?
One extra weapon slot (3 torso, 2 main in ultraheavy quad vs 3 torso, 1 main and 1 in each arm for biped). Other than that, I think the only advantage is the ability to pick up or manipulate things.

Well, that and Glider protos are required to be biped.

For the Nixie 3, IMO it would make it a bit more unique to go with something like the LCL; the Boggart already fills the Plasma Cannon role.

You are right, I have an idea, but it is non-canon tech.  >:D

@All: In another matter, is there something lacking to the Lindworm?

I might want to invest in art for it, but I haven't gotten any feedback.

For the Nixie 3, perhaps go for two MCL in the MG and then make use of the extra space with more mobility, since a pair of MCL is better than a single LCL in everything except range. Having only 3/5 movement and no JJ makes it rather harder to use, and a switch to MCL would require speed to make full use of them and to differentiate it from the Sprite 3.

I'll go look at the Lindwurm when I get back home in about four hours.

Since you've gone to the trouble of getting art for it, have you got a TRO-style fluff writeup to go with it?

[EDIT]
You know, since there's nothing (IIRC) against it, why not a protomech with Angel ECM?

I have the notes, but it not yet complete and open for change. But to give you an idea.
The legal iHLL and LPL versions are the PR1 and PR2 (prototype versions) respectively.
Then comes an omni-version, that goes off the rails as it were, with custom tech.
The Prime and A follow the earlier versions. And then there are:
Alt-B: iHAG-10
Alt-C: LRM12x2
Alt-D: Nova+ERLL (mentioned with notable section)

Indeed why not, there is plenty of tonnage for it. About 6500 kg would remain, a pair of Streak launchers would be a good fit. (Alt-E?)

Here is some art of the Nixe firing an improved Heavy Large Laser, draw by Plog.
Tell me what you guys think.

Oh so it was you who commissioned this :D She looks AMAZE!  Did you also commission the other Proto's he's drew, the stripped down ones.

7 tons
4 crits
12 shot/ton ammo
Specials: X/C5/F/10/S

The Improved part is allowing the switching of ammo type and a second feature.
But I am still doubting about the second feature: either +2 cluster bonus along the entire range or giving it range 9/18/27.

I didn't commission the others, but they are sweet.

Instead of 1x iHLL, you could have:

1x LPL
1x LBX5(15), 1xAPGR(10)

Yep, that is the PR2 (second prototype).

That would make a good PR3, thanks  8)

I suppose that you could also go with 2x SSRM6(16) with 5IJJs, but that kind of spoils the ballistic support feel

Worked out the math, and the Nixie could have a large chemical laser, 21 shots, max out its armor, and move at 5/8.

But why, though? Tell me, what's the advantage of the Chem LL over an ERML, for example, which is half the weight?

Because it saves 10% of the laser mass allocated to power amps.  Trade-offs.

Power amps, on a protomech?

Power amps, on a protomech?

With a fusion engine they surely don’t need them?
