I'd say you solved that problem... 4 iHLLs, that ain't boring on a 5/8 heavy.  It's equally as terrifying for your opponent as it is for you.
....so 4 iHLL are sword-chucks?  ??? ;D

I wonder if you can get something that moves that fast with that many iHLL and an adequate number of HS

well, you'd only need 36 DHS for a heat neutral barrage.. think you can find tonnage for another 15 DHS? i think you'd run out of critical spaces even if you could find the weight.

the RHS might not be perfect, but it works great at making these kinds of big energy gun loadouts viable. makes me wonder if you can fit a RHS system to a Supernova.. or to a regular Nova omni or a Blackhawk-KU without sacrificing the weaponry that made the RHS needed in the first place.

The Lament is still a fun big gun trooper BattleMech.  The art for it is awesome, the firepower is adequate.  I'd like note, alot Mechs of this era were known for being undergun when 3132 first came out.  Look at record sheets for one which initially were created from the stats of Clicktech machines. Legionnare, Cuirass, Arbalest, Ghost, Targe, and Mjolnir.  They were less-than packing allot weapons or various weapons.  They had usually one primary focused weapon like some LRM Missiles launchers, one gun perhaps and a secondary weapon.  Usually it was SINGLE medium laser or so forth. Due to the nature of the game.

The Lament is like those Mechs, focus on big weapons and some secondary ones, but not overly armed but in end tough machine.

I think it was a design philosophy which MWDA stat designers used, which is being carried on some level.  You don't want every design to be perfect, or over gunned just like the next one.  Lament has good balance of "gotcha" firepower, while not necessary "breaking game" quirks to it.

Not sure how the Arbalest (Valkyrie IIC) is undergunned . . . though I will agree a lot of the MWDA-inspired mechs did seem to be designed from the Lyran BFG philosophy.

I'm really fond of the 3C and 3R.  They remind me of upgraded Maelstroms.  The RHS becomes a real liability when using the 3 ERRPCs, though.  But for an Inner Sphere mech to move 5/8 and keep the fire going with Timberwolves and Mad Dogs is a big deal, even if it uses inferior components.

Re: Clan ER PPCs mounted to the Lament: It's a simple swap, I think, for those more interested in ATOW or otherwise involving role-play for a merc running an LMT-2R. HPPC gets damaged in battle and salvaged a CERPPC? Swap 'em.

I'm thinking of having the LMT-2R that was in the Ulfhednar Free Company ending up in the hands of a merc who strips out the (in fluff) constantly failing RHS system and one of the HPPCs in favor of a CERPPC, more heat sinks, and maybe a targeting computer. Maybe pull an ERML or two and replace them with iHMLs, too…. Or maybe pull all the ERMLs, swap the HPPCs for CERPPCs, and add an ERLL or iHLL to make the 'Awehammer' a little MAD.

I just got my hands on a Lament mini and I'm eager to paint it. As the MUL doesn't have availability yet I'm trying to decide on a scheme. Sure I could do a RotS theme but I was wondering if there's any evidence of it's use outside of the RAF.

The fluff entry in the TRO describes one being in Capellan usage - captured in 3135 or 36 as part of the invasion of the Republic.
From memory, it says something like it being the "only Lament in the CCAF". But I can't rember if that is 100 per cent correct.
Additionally, the Lament in question was actually in use with a merc company. The pilot was a former RAF soldier who deserted with his mech as the Republic broke up.

So, based off that snippet - i would suggest the bulk are used by the Republic until after the HPG net goes down when you're likely to see a smattering of them salvaged by the nations who actively gobbled up the Republic: Liao, Kurita, Davion and maybe Jade Falcon and Wolf Empire

That was a Doloire, but the point stands.  They're known to serve in the Republic on both sides of the Fortress, so could conceivably have been captured by any force that engaged the RAF, or taken away by deserters.

D'oh! You're right - same deal though. I could imagine some turning up in salvage

The art. I couldn't even care if it was terrible. But dat art.  [drool]

That being said, it certainly is a monster. I do wish it used regular medium lasers rather then ER mediums but that's more of a bracket firing/standard MLs are the go to 'sidearm' for any mech for me.

I am curious how the model looks is it really large?

I just discovered a half-assembled Lament in  a box in my storage room a few weeks ago.  Put it the rest of the way together- very nice mini.

Yeah, its a nice looking mini that is pretty easy to put together.  Its one of my favorite mechs to use as a proxy for a heavy w/o hands.

Well, i tried a hand (very bad hand) in making what a experimental variant of the Lament Sword-Chucks looked like.  It didn't come out so well. Sorry for the low quality picture. I'm not as skilled in cut/paste.  #P

Honestly, the waist of the mini makes me want to make jokes about barbie and unrealistic standards of beauty. But aside from that, great mini.
