Like the many threads that have blighted this forum since time immemorial, this is for folks playing or looking to play in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
We're usually found every Sunday or so at Generation X Comics and Games in Bedford, with folks usually showing up around 12:00-12:30, with games trying to get started at 1:00.
Our usual games are Battletech (6000 BV, no customs except conventional infantry, all eras and factions welcome, max four artillery tubes if any) or Alpha Strike (400 PV, no customs except conventional infantry, all factions and eras welcome, max four artillery tubes if any), though we will throw down with other wargames on occasion.
So pull up a chair, throw some dice, and remember: Never pick up a mango in a bathroom, it's a fae trap.
-
As a reminder, Sunday May 15th is going to be a Solaris Grinder. Everybody brings a 6,000 BV lance of four units, with one from each weight class, and we'll see how much stupid stuff we can do on one of the arena maps. :)
-
Anything going on this Sunday?
-
Nothing at the moment, but I can be at Gen X for whatever comes up.
-
I would be up for BT or AS. I would lean to AS but that's me.
-
I would be up for some Alpha Strike, but it's Mom's Day tomorrow and I have to take care of that. If I can get there, I will be there by 1pm...if I am not there by 1pm, then I am probably not coming. :)
-
I’ve got the 15th off confirmed now. It’s time to represent the chancellor, in the arena >:D
-
If anyone needs, I'll be bringing a spare lance.
-
GenX has Salvage Boxes!
-
I have money! :D
-
I'm in.

Operation: STEEL HAMMER. Brought to you by the DFW mechwarriors guild.
What: One of the most important manufacturing worlds in the Inner Sphere, Hesperus II was a primary objective of the Word of Blake’s Operation
STEEL HAMMER, the plan designed to disrupt the Lyran Alliance’s economic and industrial base. Long before attempting to seize Hesperus II, the Word concocted a lengthy invasion plan designed to weaken the Lyran defenses. Although over the years the Lyrans had repulsed many previous attempts to capture the planet, the Blakists aimed to succeed where other invaders had failed.
When: Sunday, May 29th.
Where: Generation X Comics and Games in Bedford, TX.
Rules: Alpha strike. Total Chaos mission: Strike. Optional rules: Variable damage rolls (roll per point of damage). Battletech initiative deck. Miniatures and record sheet provided, just bring dice and a desire to have fun.
Like last time: if you guys have any thoughts, hit me up with them or I'm gonna call this good. Now to work on terrain and the miniatures >:D
-
Well, unless things change, I’ll be off almost every Sunday starting on the 12th next month. So, in the words of a great man: hold on to your lug nuts, it’s time for an overhaul :D
-
You mean a great Mask? :)
-
But who’s the man behind the mask?
-
Darrell asked me to pass along that he will be running some old school scenarios to Gen X this Sunday (22nd). He will bring the maps and mechs.
-
What: BattleTech TCG Team Draft
When: Sunday June 5th @ 1PM
Where: Gen X in Bedford
Will explain the rules from 12 to 1 and we'll do a team vs team game to start. As that won't take all that long we can do a free for all afterward.
Everything will be provided. If you'd like to bring dice or counters, feel free.
-
Welp, I got something for us next time we do a boardgame day >:D

HUZZAH!!
While dropping off some comics at my storage unit, I found my Battletech card game collection. I will bring them to the June 5th game (after cleaning off all the dust)

What's the plan for this Sunday, if any?

What's the plan for this Sunday, if any?
??? You mean this Sunday, the 29th ???
-
Yes, this Sunday.
My mother died a week ago, and the rest of the week hasn't offered any respite. My mind is completely frazzled and I don't even know what I'm doing tomorrow, much less this Sunday.

Ahh shit, man. Sorry to hear that. Well, we got the AS game this week, so if you wanna just game and not worry about having to come up with something, that’s an option. Otherwise I don’t blame you for sitting out. If there are things you need to do, or you need to go be with your people I get it.

Sorry to hear about your mother.
I plan on being there this Sunday for the AS event. Question: will we be running our own "team" or is it a shared units type of thing?

Sides, so we will distribute lances/level II’s based on number of players. Wobies have three level II’s and the Steiners have six lances/two companies to distribute.
-
I won't be able to make it tomorrow.

I won't be able to make it tomorrow.
Understandable. Take care of what you need to, there will always be another time.

Is today's AS event at 12 or 1pm?
-
Is today's AS event at 12 or 1pm?
1pm start, but you know how we would like to try to get started earlier, even if it never works out that way…
-
Alright, so we where thinking gaslands on the 12th. Anybody have objections or any ideas? I'm gonna try to sit down and read all the stuff for it again.
And in Star Wars CCG chat: I now remember who talon karrde was...it was the other big star wars writer at the time, Timothy Zahn :o
"Corran Horn (portrayed by Stackpole,) with Mara Jade (portrayed by Shannon McRandle) and Talon Karrde (portrayed by Timothy Zahn)"
-
Letting the few folks who use infantry know, the platoons that use some of the more powerful weapons have been revised, with updated sheets find in this post: https://bg.battletech.com/forums/errata/errata-discussion-thread/msg131307/#msg131307
The older sheets for those platoons found in RS: 3085 are no longer legal. This includes the Hell's Horses hover cavalry Points.
-
Cool
-
All set for Battletech card game on Sunday. I'll be at GenX at noon to go over how to play and we'll get started about 1.
-
Thanks for the reminder; I need to run by my storage unit and get my stuff out.
-
Yup, Gaslands on the 12th! Is anyone else bringing the cards? I've never played and have no materials. I'll probably bring my AS stuff just in case, unless someone would like to play X-Wing as a backup.
Good to know about the infantry, though I don't remember the original stats well enough to make most of a difference probably.
-
I think you're basically losing a couple points of damage overall, but gaining 1d6 whenever you shoot other conventional infantry.
-
Well, for gas lands there are some issues I didn’t think of. 1. We are gonna need cars. 2.we need templates.
I can provide a map and blank record sheets easy enough, along with books. But the other two are gonna depend on someone else, mostly if weirdo can make it or not :o
Otherwise: I also would like to beta test some alpha strike tournament rules, or maybe something else….
-
I got templates and such, and I think one of the new guys does as well. Cars are no issue. Not all of mine are customized but I got it covered. I would say that the biggest thing, if Weirdo can't make it, is the terrain (gates, barriers, even buildings) that makes a death race work.
I'm confident we can cover everything though.
-

What'd you have in mind?

Well, I have a some stuff. My star port terrain for legion would probably be fine. I think I’ve got enough to cover my mat.
What'd you have in mind?
I’d need to workout point values and scenarios, but I’ve got a rough idea for a fairly balanced tournament rule set…or so I hope. I’m basically cribbing from tournament packets from other games I’ve played over the years, at least the ones the ones that were balanced xp I’ve got some ideas what to include that would give a players a set of symmetrical and asymmetrical scenarios to be played out on two map sheets during an hour/hour and a half match.
-
I'm interested, provided it allows for full combined-arms forces at all times should a player want to go that route.
-
I won't be able to make it today.
Gaslands: I do have movement templates, tokens and dice. I also have the vehicles but only 1 is customized.
Future AS tourney sounds great!
-
I'm interested, provided it allows for full combined-arms forces at all times should a player want to go that route.
Of course. Like any good rule set, I’d prefer to be able to keep the amount of banned/restricted stuff to a minimum.
I was thinking of the following caps on stuff to try to retain balance, while allowing players to field plenty of options: 1. Cap on number of artillery. 2. Have to have at least one on-map unit. 3. Limit of five units of any single type(battle armor counts as one unit per squad, not per suit)
-
That seems decent.
-
3. Limit of five units of any single type(battle armor counts as one unit per squad, not per suit)
That's what I get for late night phone posting...but to clarify this: I mean 5 of a particular chassis. So for example: you have 5 Atlas mechs of any variant, five points of elementals or five demolishers.
I put five off the top of my head because of proto mechs, but now that I think about it, they are treated as one unit card for AS...so we could limit it to four of a chassis and that would be fine I think...
As far as Gaslands goes, what do you guys usually play as a base points level and car total? Lets just go with that this upcoming Sunday.
-
I put five off the top of my head because of proto mechs, but now that I think about it, they are treated as one unit card for AS...
Protos have individual cards.
-
Protos have individual cards.
Wait, did they change that? Or did they actually just clean up the writing from first edition so it’s actually clear and concise now? xp
-
They changed it. Quite a long time ago, too, sometime well before ASCE came out.
-

Thank the maker :o

How's this size of gates for gaslands? Bigger, smaller? I'll throw a few more together as I have time this week. -
I'd make it a brick or two higher, that should be plenty, I think.
So, we all ok with 50 Cans as our build limit? and are we gonna be book only, or all official material?
-
50 cans is the default. And as far as I know, all official material was consolidated into Gaslands: Refueled. Can't think of anything else.
-
Alright, double checking for this Sunday. I'm bringing the map, pdfs, record sheets etc. Who else is bringing stuff?
-
I'll try to bring my stuff as well. Can't absolutely guarantee I'll make it, but I'll try.
-
I've got the track laid out. I will bring several cars as well.
When it comes to the scenario... I know 50 is the usual but it seems like we maybe get through half the race before we have to clean up. Not to mention the start is always a cluster of epic proportions. The track is also going to be tight, if my estimates of the map photo is correct. So I was thinking 35 points on a single vehicle of your choice, with an alternate if you want to switch cars when you respawn. Especially if we have half a dozen people playing I think it'll help clean the game up a bit.
-
I'm up for that. Though it should be noted
...the start is always a cluster of epic proportions.
That's a feature, not a bug. 8)
-

I know man, but still! Okay, putting together some pre-mades for others. 35 cans, let's do 35 cans. That way you can supe up your rides a bit to compensate for having one vehicle at a time
-

Pfft, I was gonna put it all on one car anyway >:D but yeah, 35 sounds fine

Here are some more gates. Do we need some partial walls / barrels / or scatter terrain?

I’ll be bringing some stuff as well, so that should be fine.
-
Sweet! Gaslands. I should one of these days learn how to make a unit (unless Whistler wants to make them for me).
-
Ok, so outside of moving me to a Sunday and not telling me, it looks like my schedule is still the same. I know a couple of people will be unavailable, and a few others talked about axis and allies miniatures. I’ll probably show up to just hangout, unless somebody wants to help beta test these alpha strike rules I’m working on. I’ll try to get those posted here in a day or so and see what people think.
-
Ok, here is the bare bones basics for now. I'm already working on scenarios and more force building rules, but I wanted to start off simple and work up to those. If anybody has something they have concerns with or thinks would be cool, let me know.
I'll be up at Gen-X Sunday(19th) to hangout, if anyone wants to run some test games with me, that's cool with me. Build a appropriate force or two according to the composition rules. Feel free to try to break the rules wide open, that's kind of the whole point of testing these, but if you want to just create a fun force and play, that's perfectly fine as well.
DFW Mechwarriors guild Alpha Strike Tournament rules
Basic Rules, first draft.
Force composition:
- 250 PV.
- There is a limit of five of any unit chassis (e.g., you can have five Atlas mechs of any variant in your force. This only applies to a individual chassis, a Atlas, Atlas II and Atlas III are all considered separate unit chassis for purposes of list building. If unsure, consult tournament TO.)
- A force must have at LEAST one ground based unit. (e.g., A force could be comprised of a single Savannah Master and four Aerospace fighters, but not five Aerospace units only.)
- A force can only have a maximum of four units with the ART-X special ability.
- A force must be faction specific, but not era specific. Consult the MUL for unit availability for your faction of choice.
- Unit base skill is 4. Skills can be upgraded by spending the appropriate amount of PV to increase them. A unit skills CANNOT be decreased for a reduction in its PV cost.
- Proxies allowed. A proxy must be of a matching unit type and size. A proxy cannot be the same miniature as another unit in your force. Proxies must be explained to your opponent before the game starts.
Rules:
- All standard Alpha Strike rules
- Hexed play
- Movement modifier dice.
- Variable Damage rolls: Multiple attack rolls.
- Optional Special Abilities
- Optional Unit Types
- Aerospace Rules.
- Advanced Infantry rules.
- Augmented Warriors. (A Augmented unit MUST be at least skill 1, and belong to the Word of Blake faction.)
- Attacker/Defender.
- The player with the lower PV total chooses to be Attacker or Defender. The Defender chooses two map sheets to be setup length wise next to each other. Attacker chooses which short board edge to deploy from. Certain scenario elements will be affected by which player is Attacker/Defender. In-case of a tie in PV, roll a pair of dice or some other kind of randomizer to determine who chooses Attacker/Defender.
-
Looks good to me! Interested to see what the scenarios would be like...
-

Debating between having a set of scenarios(2d6 random table) or a set of scenario cards(like Star Wars legion) that you randomize between rounds.
-
Looks cool as hell. >:D
I know I'm the resident artillerist here but I dare say that for 250 points four units with ART specials is too high. Might want to chop that in half, and possibly shift from 'units carrying' to 'points of' ART. It may be a moot point seeing as we only have 250 to work with but still.
I'll have to look up the advanced infantry rules.
-
I'm fine with four tubes. Either you're bringing easily-destroyed towed guns, or you're sinking a lot of points into SPGs, and thus shorting your regular combat units.
-
Yeah, those were my thoughts as well. I settled on our standard four tubes as a default limit, but like all of these rules so far: if you think something’s too strong…prove it! >:D
Everything is open to be changed, it is a first draft after all. If you think of something that is abusable, let’s try it out. I’ve already made three lists for the clans to try out, nothing super crazy, but I think they are three decent examples of what a average player may field.
-
Don't issue me a challange... that's a path to the dark side. I feel like I could make it work, and I even sorta want to pursue it. But... yeah, I feel like the results of this thought exercise could be dangerous. :P

But, I said that was the point ;D

Ugh, I’ve managed to avoid getting sick for three year now, and of course I come down with strip throat Friday :-[ I’m not gonna make it to the store today.
-
I'll bring the Battletech cards again for this Sunday.
-
Sounds good to me. I've still got a fair collection of them myself, would it be useful to bring them?
-
I've got all we'll need, but if ya want to bring some to look through we can.
-
Welp, first doctor was obviously bad at his job. I went to go get a stronger prescription to treat my throat, and that doctor was like: “you got the roni, bro.”
I’ll be out for at least a week or two into next month, till I know I’m not contagious, don’t wanna risk others. You guys keep safe out there, and I’ll see ya when I know I’m not spreading it around.
-
Good luck!

HUZZAH!!
Just ordered TWO of those and a copy of Shrapnel #9
On a sad note, while building a deck for the Battletech card game I realized that not only did I lose the pre-made decks in the storage unit break-in, but also the bulk of my duplicate cards primarily the first set. Still, I did manage to build a Kurita deck (and work on a Liao/ St. Ives deck)
-
I still need to go through my box and see if I can actually build a deck of any single faction. Most of the time I-don't-wanna-know long ago, I settled for simply doing a generic Clan or generic Inner Sphere deck.
-
Gents,
Going to be in Texas for the holiday, bringing forces for a Davion vs Kurita battle at Gen-X at the usual time on Sunday the 3rd
Hope to see ya'll there

Here's the discord for anyone that needs it, https://discord.gg/VFUnHYYtM2.
I'm interested in some Alpha Strike for next weekend.
-
Will be at GenX next week on Tuesday the 5th, noon to 5, for a game with a friend who isn’t available on weekends.
Force construction will be same as Psofan89’s post above. Only changes are this will be hexless Alpha Strike and units are limited to Inner Sphere introduced in 3042 or earlier.
I’ll bring a force for both sides and depending on time and how many players we get we can drop in reinforcements for each side.
Scenario:
[3042] In advance of the planned invasion of the planet Suzano by the Federated Commonwealth’s Fifth Syrtis Fusiliers, several mercenary forces have been dispatched to one of the polar regions to capture a key hydrocarbon processing facility. FedCom hopes the fuel stockpiles there will be secured in time to help supply their invasion force.
Attacker [Mixed Mercenary Forces] Objective – Destroy any defending Free Worlds League forces. Avoid extensive damage to the facility.
Defender [1st Free Worlds Legionnaires] Objective – Destroy any attacking forces.
FedCom Intel – The facility is located by a frozen lake which is surrounded by rolling hills. Bitter cold temperatures will have pros and cons. First point of overheat gained per turn is ignored. Heavy snowstorms in the area will likely hinder visibility occasionally. Yes the buildings will explode if you shoot them.
-

Just got a text from our fearless leader Darrell: Marc Bradle will be running a Battletech game this Sunday (July 3) at Gen X.

A question just occurred to me about the proposed Alpha Strike format:
Will the lance formation rules be used? And if yes, are combined-arms lances/stars/other allowed? Such as a lance with two mechs and two vees?
-

Yes, that was something I was gonna review in the next update. I’d need to sit down and go over all of them and see. At first glance though: I’d probably have no problem with allowing them to be mixed unit formations. If I recall off of the top of my head, they mostly only care about: speed, damage, unit role. So I’d think they would be fine if you could meet the requirements with every unit.
-
Cool. As soon as you posted it initially, I started thinking about Dark Age-style forces, but those are gonna be at a severe disadvantage if pure lances were needed.
-
Yeah. The few formation rules I remember only ever said mech only, or they implied it at least. But that’s an easy enough fix I think. I’ll start going over them when I have time.
Also on that front: I’d love to hear any feedback if you guys have been playing some games with the format. I’m obviously stuck here and really haven’t had anyway to test stuff. Though I could just set stuff up and run some vague simulations on how games would go…
-
I dont think we've played it yet, tbh.
I too believe unit formations should be a thing for this... especially since we are going to be getting a bunch of new ones with the new faction manuals. Whenever they come out.
-
Rules question. Say you have a Command Lance formation with one of the units gaining Multi-tasker. How would that play with rolling per point of damage?
Say the unit has 4/4/2 damage and one target at short range and one target at long range. Would it be 4 rolls against the short-range target, total gets halved. Then another 2 rolls at the long-range target, again halved?
-
My view is that the damage gets split between the two targets, and *then* you start rolling, but it might be best to check the rules forum for this, in case it's been covered already.
-
Well, hopefully not jinxing it. But I got my second negative test today. I’ll do one more come Friday, but I should be good to go again.
I’ll work on this alpha strike stuff, and if I get the all clear Friday I’ll be up there this Sunday(10th).
-
I should be there as well. Want to try the 250-pt guidelines you put together?
-
Yep, that was my idea for the weekend. I have a couple of lists I want to try out. Gonna have to redo a few of them since I just dunked a few of the minis I was gonna use this week.
-
I'll bring my paramilitary Highlanders group, try it out.
Gotta say, it's really amazing sometimes what you can slap together and qualify as a Battle Lance...
-
Leviathans Kickstarter date announced! (https://bg.battletech.com/forums/off-topic/leviathans-board-game-aka-monsters-in-the-sky/msg1847281/#msg1847281)
-
And here I am just clearing my credit card with my Covid check. >:D
-
I'll bring the two forces we played with on Tuesday, though won't count on me hitting every IF shot that needed a 10+. Had half a Zeus before I could see anything.
And on the split fire with multi-tasker, looks like you just ignore the +1 for a secondary target and split the rolls as usual at whatever ranges.
https://bg.battletech.com/forums/alpha-strike-101/variable-damage-question/
-
I revised a few things, and put some of the basic scenarios down for posterity. As usual: feedback good, yatta yatta, gaming.
My third test came back negative, so I'm good to go this Sunday. Just gotta spray down everything at home now xp . I'll bring a few forces to use and some markers for objectives. All everybody else needs to bring is their units and relevant game aids, alongside extra map sheets.
DFW Mechwarriors guild Alpha Strike Tournament rules v1.1
Force composition:
- 250 PV.
- A player may bring up to two different unit lists for a tournament.
- Formation rules are allowed from the following books: Alpha Strike Commanders Edition, and Battle of Tukayyid.
- There is a limit of Six of any unit chassis (e.g., you can have Six Atlas mechs of any variant in your force. This only applies to a individual chassis, a Atlas, Atlas II and Atlas III are all considered separate unit chassis for purposes of list building. If unsure, consult tournament TO.)
- Battle armor units must have the appropriate amount of members per squad according to faction organization. (4 inner sphere, 5 clan, 6 WoB/Comstar)
- Initiative: individual unit movement.
- Variable Damage rolls: Multiple attack rolls.
- Optional Special Abilities
- Optional Unit Types
- Aerospace Rules.
- Advanced Infantry rules.
- Augmented Warriors. (A Augmented unit MUST be at least skill 1, and belong to the Word of Blake faction.)
Scenarios Rules:
- Attacker/Defender.
- The Player with the lower PV total chooses to be Attacker or Defender. The Defender chooses two standard map sheets, one Tukayyid map sheet, or one megamat for setup. Attacker chooses which board edge to deploy from. Certain scenario elements will be affected by which player is Attacker/Defender. In-case of a tie in PV, roll a pair of dice or some other kind of randomizer to determine who chooses Attacker/Defender.
- Players exchange units lists after setup for their opponent to review, but before deploying. After reviewing each others lists, Both players pick one of their lists in secret, and then reveal it to their opponents simultaneously. These are the unit lists both players will use for the Scenario.
- Objectives must be placed on level 0 terrain. Objectives must be five or more hexes from any board edge or another objective marker. Objectives must have all 6 adjacent hexes clear of terrain.
- Players move their units on to the board from their board edge during the first turn of the game.
- Scoring.
- Any non-Aerospace unit can score Victory Points. Refer to the scenario being played for specifics on scoring.
- In case of a tie, use the following formula to determine a winner: VP scored>PV Destroyed. If both players are still tied after calculating VP and PV, the game is a draw.
- The game ends when a player has no non-Aerospace units on the board, when the scenario turn limit is reached, or when one player has five more VP then their opponent.
Scenarios:
- Overwatch.
- Setup: Place the Mapsheets length wise.
- Deployment: Players deploy from the long map edge.
- Objectives: Place three Objective markers. One marker in the center of both map sheets, and one marker on each players side of the map.
- Turns: 12
- Scoring: Every other turn (2nd,4th,6th, etc) A player scores one VP for each Objective marker they control. A player controls an Objective if they have more units adjacent to it then their opponent. At the end of the game, each player scores two VP for each Objective they control.
- Supply recovery.
- Setup: Place the Mapsheets length wise.
- Deployment: Players deploy from the long map edge.
- Objectives: Place five Objective markers. One in the middle of both map sheet, Then both players take turns placing two Objective markers each on their side of the map. Objectives do not need to have all six adjacent hexes clear, just the one they are placed on.
- Turns: 12
- Scoring: Any non-Aerospace unit can pick up an adjacent Objective marker be declaring they are picking it up during the weapons phase. A unit that declares it is picking up an Objective marker cannot fire weapons or make physical attacks during that weapons phase. A unit drops a marker when it is destroyed, or by declaring it is dropping it during the weapons phase. Each player scores one VP for each Objective a unit they control that is currently holding an Objective marker at the end of the game.
- Breakout
- Setup: Place the Mapsheets short edge to short edge.
- Deployment: Players deploy from opposite short edges.
- Objectives: None.
- Turns: 12.
- Scoring: Each player scores one VP for each unit they get off their opponents board edge.
- Deliver the goods.
- Setup: Place the Mapsheets short edge to short edge.
- Deployment: Players deploy from opposite short edges.
- Objectives: Each player has three Objective markers they must assign to three of their non-Aerospace units. A unit drops a Objective marker when it is destroyed, or declaring it is dropping the marker during the weapons phase.
- Turns: 12
- Scoring: A player scores one VP for each Objective markers they drop into the first hex of their opponents board edge.
-
Don't forget your Marauder II and P-Hawk. :)
- Players exchange units lists after setup, but before deploying. After reviewing each others lists, Both players pick one list in secret, and then reveal it to their opponent simultaneously. This is the list both players will use for the Scenario.
Wait, what? Both players have to use identical forces? Do we need to bring two sets of minis and sheets?
-
Don't forget your Marauder II and P-Hawk. :)
Wait, what? Both players have to use identical forces? Do we need to bring two sets of minis and sheets?
let me clarify: you give your opponent your lists to review. you don't play each others lists. you can also bring just one list if you don't want to bother. Both lists can be entirely different if you so wish. It's a way to make lists for specific scenarios or opponents, without having to waste time with a sideboard, or being stuck playing the same list all day.It also adds a degree of choice and decision without bogging everything down too much. I'll try to edit and clarify that in a sec.
-
Since my focus has been on AnimeFest lately, I will just show up and play what's available.

Ok. I’ll make you something…special >:D
-
Alright, got the schedule updated today. So I’ll be free this Sunday(17th)
-
How would people feel about Leviathans on the 24th?
-
I had an idea for a board game day next week. What do you think about leviathans this week? Or do you need more prep time?
-
I cannot be there this week.

Alright. lets shoot for leviathans next week then.

I'm good to go for whatever is decided for this Sunday (17th)

I’m down. I can bring some rulers and stuff. Need me to bring a mat? I’ve got my hexed ones, and a desert alongside a industrial park.
How many points do we need??
-
Generally we have been going with 400. That's 400 per side. Meaning if we have four people there will be two teams and you'll have to pick which force you use. It gets to be too much of a hassle trying to rebalance things / split forces / etc.
-
The desert mat would be nice, that'll work well for the Diamond Mine. How about we go with 500 pts/side and use the same 250 PV group templates from the tournament rules. Maybe include one ~50 PV thing that could be dropped if it looks like too much stuff.

Sounds good to me. I’ll dig the Mat out tonight when I get home.

There are players at both locations as well as a few others, though I don't know their schedule.
-
New player here, does anyone make it up to Texas Toy Soldier or Madness Comics to play or is the DFW BT community pretty concentrated at Generation X Games?
I have the starter box, the Game of Armored Combat box and some force packs and I'm looking to get my first game in, I just need someone to show me the ropes.
Welcome, welcome. We are just one of the older groups, but definitely not the only one in the metroplex.
The Texas toy soldier crew use to meetup on Tuesday, but I think they had some personal stuff come up and are not as frequent. I’d check on the Facebook groups to be sure.
Madness has a group every third Saturday and one or two smaller groups that meetup on and off.
Denton has one or two groups. Not sure about details.
I know there actually a few people trying to get something started at common ground games in Dallas. I think they are still working on that.
There is a store called: free range pumpkins near Arlington that has a group. Don’t know a ton about them, besides I met one of them at a pizza place and talked about tech for a bit.
Y2K comics has one or two groups, but I never really hear much from them.
Pretty sure Sci-fi factory also has a group, not sure which location though.

HUZZAH!!!
My Catalyst order has arrived; I'll bring the box Sunday.
-
Sevengates: You want to watch the Leviathans discussion video that went up today, especially near the midpoint.
Trust Me. 8)
-
I gotta do some family stuff while my dad is in town. So if I’m not there by the time you guys wanna start, go on ahead without me. If I show up late I’ll just hang around and BS with you.

Since some folks who were interested couldn't make it, how do you guys feel about Leviathans again on August 7th?
-
TORPEDOS AWAY!!!! :D
-
Where can I find the record sheets for the TC variants of the Stormcrow and Timber Wolf minis?
-
Tukayyid.
-
thank you
-
New revisions to the tourney rules, now in .txt form! :D
In other news: they are really all over the place with the schedule at work. We are supposed to have two weeks planned out, and right now we are lucky to have one week planned, and often the day BEFORE the work week rolls over. I won't know if I'm free till Saturday most weeks.
-
I expect my schedule will become like that from late September through either November or late December...
-
OOOOOOO...... Leviathan T-shirts 8)
also, the record sheet for the TC Timber Wolf does not show the targeting computer.
-
Just found this thread. Great to see there's already a community in the area! Unfortunately my Sundays are already reserved for D&D...
-
Just found this thread. Great to see there's already a community in the area! Unfortunately my Sundays are already reserved for D&D...
Welcome, welcome. If you ever cancel, you can show up anytime. We will post what we are up to most of time here. We also have people who play during the week. I’m sure they will chime in next.
-
Ok, should have this Sunday off(31st). Do we have any plans?
-
We could roll a pickup game of Alpha Stike. I still want to play Xwing too so I can try out the Razor Crest, but I have to organize my stuff and get a list builder.
-
whistler,
Im trying to be there on Sunday. If you can please bring that extra clan invasion box set.
-
Just found this thread. Great to see there's already a community in the area! Unfortunately my Sundays are already reserved for D&D...
Welcome welcome, like psofan said if you ever do get a Sunday drop by.
If you don't have minis, well someone might scratch up a lance or star and we'll just roll with it.
-
Let's go with Alpha Stike then. We'll have to play it by ear. I'll bring my 400 and 250 point forces and we'll just see what everyone else brings as well I guess. We'll make it work.
whistler,
Im trying to be there on Sunday. If you can please bring that extra clan invasion box set.
No problem man, I got you covered :)
-
Hey all! Super new player here looking to get into the game. I have the three box sets (working on painting it all) and was hoping to find anyone up for a teaching game. I'm out in Wise county, we west of DFW.

Ello, Ello. Already said it up thread, but you are welcome to come in any Sunday you can and I’m sure someone will be more then willing to teach ya. There are a few other stores a bit closer to you, but you’d have to call or show up and hope to catch them there.
We also have a couple others who are over at gen-x during the week, I’m sure they will chime in with when they are there.
-
Welp, I guess our complaints got through cause they did the schedule two weeks in advance again. With that being said: I’ll be free this Sunday(7th).
-
Back from con, so I'll be at the shop; more Leviathans right?
-
On the 7th, yep.
And the Kickstarter starts tomorrow, around noon our time. :excited:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cgl/leviathans-the-great-war
-
Terence, thanks for the ships link. Also, I checked the 1/2500 original "TV" model set; it does NOT have decals for all the "Coni's", just Enterprise.
-
Sorry I missed Sunday, slept in late. Now that I’m refreshed from the last week and a half of working, I’ll try to make sure I get up there this Sunday(14th).
-
What are we looking to do this weekend?
-
I have been working on another new Alpha Strike scenario for potential demo or convention play.
This one is set in 3051, a group of mercenaries are chasing a bounty too big to ignore, and perhaps too good to be true.
As this is meant for intro and con games it is set up in more of A GM and players model than a competitive scenario.
Anyone interested for Sunday?
-
I’m down. Need maps, minis, or anything else?
-
I'll be there with my gear.
-
I have everything needed, though if you guys want to participate and use your own you can make 150 point Inner Sphere lists circa 3051
-
I have everything needed, though if you guys want to participate and use your own you can make 150 point Inner Sphere lists circa 3051
If you have lists already, I’ll use what you got.
-
Going to do my best to try and make it. Would love to get some AS in.
-
Sounds good, I will be there just after noon and we can shoot for around 1pm.
-
Hell yeah I'm down!
-
Hey Terence, the clickytech Neanderthal mini I have is from Banson's Raiders; it is named "THUG".
-
Cool. I'm not really interested in anything Bannson, but if you want to try and rebuild a collection, there should be a lot of it on Noble Knight or Troll and Toad.
-
What's the plan for this weekend?
-
Good question. I SWEAR I’ll try to get there this week, just been way more tired then I thought with work and all.
-
I'm down for Battletech, Alpha Strike, Leviathans, MWDA, CCG, or anything else folks would like.
-
Everybody down for some 250’s then?
-
Works for me!
-
Alright. 250pv, tourney construction rules. Like last time, if you wanna try to break it go ahead. It helps me notice things I may not have caught when writing.
Maybe I’ll try the aerospace stuff out this time >:D
-
That reminds me, I really should build a second force.
-
Okay, I'll be sure to have multiple force options as well
-
Welp, that thing I said about them getting schedules sorted? I was wrong xp
Gonna have to go into work tomorrow. The schedule says I’ll have next Sunday off, but I have no way of guaranteeing that.
-
Well THAT was temporarily upsetting.
I thought I had to create a new account for the Leviathan k.s., but it wouldn't let me use my e-mail (OH CRAP, I can't join in); somebody FORGOT to tell me that CGL was using THE SAME k.s. accounts as the Clan k.s. (used Clan password, got in)
Went for Lieutenant + patch + plane tokens for now.
-
All Kickstarters will use the same login, because it's all the same site. Your account is for Kickstarter.com, not for a specific campaign.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=43eENJQSWtQ
A full-rules playthrough video has been posted.
-
I took a quick look at that; favorite comment "YEP HE DEAD" ;D ;D
also got a K.S. e-mail advertising for a Halfling Sniper squad.
-
Anyone up for trying to do the Canyon Alpha Strike scenario again this Sunday?
Seems like I sill be running two AS games at Reapercon next week so want to get some more game testing in before then.
-
I should be there this Sunday come hell or high water, so I’ll be down. Do I need to bring anything for the scenario, or do you have everything you need?
-
Sorry guys. I have been out of action due to car trouble for the past month and probably for the next one.
-
I have everything needed. Don't worry about that.
Also if anyone wants to trade some stuff I have a trade list and a maybe list
Trade:
Orion
Trebuchet
Grendel
Adder
Mist Lynx
Glaive Tanks x 4
Maybe Trade:
Banshee
Kell Hero Archer
Enforcer
-
I can be at the shop Sunday.
-
I'm planning to make it.
Whistler,
Just a reminder to bring the Battletech box if you can make it.
-
Quick reminder, trading is absolutely *not* allowed on these forums. Nobody's crossed the line I think, but it's getting uncomfortably close. Please keep it 100% to private messages. C:-)
That being said, does anyone have any thoughts for Labor Day Sunday? My only request is nothing that needs record sheets, as I don't have printer access this week.
-
If you need something printed, let me know; just remember, I SUCK at cut & paste, so you'll have to add your own notations
-
Ok, same deal as last week. Schedule says I’m off Sunday, then by god I’m gonna be off on Sunday. What do we want to do?
I was kinda thinking about a hobby day since we haven’t done one in awhile, or card games.
-
Whistler and I have got some Leviathans planned, trying out some of the new ships. But I can build a CCG deck or two if it runs short...
-
I’ll just bring some 250’s and some card game then if people want to play.
-
Ugh, set my alarm and overslept xp
What do we have planned for this week?
-
I can bring stuff for a game of Orion's Gate. It's a spaceship fleet battle game with a pretty straightforward ruleset. Have all the materials covered minus playmats.
Optional stuff to bring:
D6s
Rulers
Pens / Pencils
Any sort of ship figures. Scale I'm bringing is about 1:6500 but bring whatever you want.
X-wing / Armada type playmats.
We'll use Firing Arc rules but not the Drifting rules.
Rules are here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gMab2JpVQzOylC4GToCVBzkGF4HBNY3O/view
Very basic record sheets that should print 4 to a page: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10Li6wDZ2GCJhdlYu2QzqLGQ4_1sGsJLU/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=113552686774658558938&rtpof=true&sd=true
-
How interested would folks be in trying MWDA this Sunday?
-
If I can show, I’m down. I’ll need to borrow stuff.
-
I'll bring two forces. Figure 600 points per should be enough for two players per side without having so much that it'll overwhelm folks who haven't played in over a decade, if at all.
-
Alright. Schedule says I’m off, so I’m gonna be off. Want me to bring a mat and some felt for terrain this Sunday?
-
I've got terrain, but a mat would probably be useful. :)
-
Have a few mechs left but I've debased all my infantry and vehicles. If you've got some filler for these factions, we'll have some more forces to pick from.
Republic of the Sphere need ~89pts
Dragon's Fury need ~21pts
Dragon's Fury need ~76pts
Spirit Cats need ~30pts
-

I’ve got: industrial, desert, cityscape.

Whichever of those you'd like. :)

HUZZAH!!
just ordered the new beginners box; that's ONE Vindi
-
Desert would be good! I have an idea. Is it okay to put masking tape on them? Very low-tack stuff.
-
Here's that 4x space game I'd mentioned the other day. https://fractalsoftworks.com/ Very well done if you like that type of game.
-
Desert would be good! I have an idea. Is it okay to put masking tape on them? Very low-tack stuff.
Depends. Would the tape mess up a mouse pad? If not, then it should be fine.
-
Alright, So per our discussion Sunday: still not sure about this upcoming Sunday(25th) but I did put in for my personal vacation for the start of October. Assuming it goes through and I don't have any schedule shenanigans, here is what I had in mind for both Sundays(2nd and 9th):
- Star Wars CCG: Strebor and I both talked about it. We both have a ton of stuff, so if people are interested, that could be a fun chill and card game day.
- Shadows of Brimstone: A weird west dungeon crawler summed up as: Cowboys vs Cthulhu(now with Samurai!) A fully cooperative game that can have up to 7 players. A ton of fun and one of the best dungeon crawlers ever produced.
- Hobby day: Everybody can bring their hobby stuff, paints, models, etc. Just a chill day to hangout and do some hobby work.
- Star Wars Legion: Similar to how we did Mechwarrior. I'll bring two large forces and we will just have a large team game to teach people how to play. Empire vs Rebels.
-
The games are fine, but the Hobby day may require permission from the store first.
Also, my CCG stuff is in storage which is currently being renovated (they're upgrading the doors and locks).
-

Uh oh. Did somebody make a mess with their hobby stuff at some point? xp
-
Welp. Remember that Mechwarrior lot I talked about Sunday? Well, SOMEBODY might have talked him into dropping the price 400$.
When I get it in, I’ll Try to mention bringing some storage for those who want stuff >:D
-
WHOOT!!
-
Any interest in making a Battletech showing at https://lonestargameexpo.com/ (https://lonestargameexpo.com/) ? They're doing their thing on the 30th-2nd.
Got lots of SWCCG decks built, mostly pairs of decks for movie scenes so lots of interaction.
Do have a collection of the WotC Star Wars minis if any extra figures would help.
-
I’ve thought about running something. I’d probably do that or reapercon, but not till next year at the least.
-
DOUBLE BOOYAH!!!!
both my Gundam package AND my new Beginners Box arrived today. :D
-
DOUBLE BOOYAH!!!!
both my Gundam package AND my new Beginners Box arrived today. :D
Noice. I’m still waiting on mine xp unless something changes, I’m gonna have this Sunday off it looks like, what’s the plan?
-
Brimstone was fun.
If Merritt is going to show, then Gaslands will probably be preferred
-
Sadly, I'm working this Sunday, but free for all of Oct.
-
Sorry I keep meaning to check and then forget. I would like to come in today and can bring my gaslands stuff. I tried texting Evan to double check with him but haven't heard back yet.
-
Anyone interested in trying out a small Aero scenario this Sunday? It would just be a 2-player thing, possibly one we could even do fast enough to swap sides and replay.
-
I'll bring the cheesecake; Monday is Merritt's and my birthday.
-
Well, of course they messed with the schedule again, so my vacation is pushed back a week. I’m still good for the Sundays I mentioned, so I’ll bringing Shadows of Brimstone this Sunday(2nd) it plays 6-7 comfortably so we have plenty of room for people to drop in and out.
In other news: I FINALLY got done doing inventory of all the dark age stuff. Since I have someone to help me haul stuff around, this and next Sunday are a good time as any. I’ve got every dark age faction alongside their parent faction so hit me up with what you want, and I’ll bring it for you. The only thing we are short is the ghost bears and wolf hunter.
-
I'll bring that aero scenario I was talking about, but will gladly join in Brimstone if nobody's interested in that
-
It's quite fun; it has dynamite. :D
-
https://store.catalystgamelabs.com/products/battletech-urbanmech-company-box
They're heeeeeeere...
-
OH HELL YEAH!!!!!!!
:toofunny:
-
Gonna take my dad to lunch before the store opens. Should be 1230 at the latest.
-
Fair warning to everyone who was at the game today, I started feeling sick as soon as I got home. Dunno what it is yet, hopefully I didn't give it to anyone.
-
Alright, so what do we want to do this weekend? I’m down for the stuff I listed, battletech or alpha strike would be perfectly fine as well.
-
I will have my usual cbt and AS stuff.
-
I won't be able to make any games until the 30th. Anyone up for BattleFace, then? I've got a Davion vs Snow Raven game set up. :)
-

I’m down. I was also gonna ask if anyone wanted to do a special Halloween themed game that Sunday.
-
Any ideas for this Sunday? I know some people won't be at the shop.
-
I’m down for some 6k battletech. Just depends on what we want to do.
-
OOOOOOOO old school ^-^
I'll see what I can throw together.
-
I'm in
-
Sweet. I’ll bring the terrain.
-
Nevermind. My little cul-de-sac is flooded in this morning xp you guys have fun.
-
HUZZAH!!!
just filled out my Leviathans pledge.
added the Pallada and Vladivostok to the set.
-
Dang, they already are doing the pledge manager? They must have had everything ready to go design wise if they are doing that this early.
Outside of another random act of nature, what do we want to do this weekend?
-
Gaslands?
-
I'd be down for that! One of the big maps like the one Evan had for the city would be nice. I can remake that race map or if we have a desert or something we cam try a battle instead.
-
I can bring a desert map. What point level are we doing?
-
Last time it was 30 cans for a car. Worked out pretty good so let's do it again. Bring one racer and one fighter, we'll see what kind of game we run.
-
I might be able to make it this Sunday if you all have room for another. If I'm not there by 12:30 it means I won't be able to swing it.
-
WOOT :yikes:
I found the Engilsh language website for the 30 minute mission WARGAME
It has an extensive rule set (at first glance)
-
Someone ready for a BattleFace game this Sunday? :)
-
Someone ready for a BattleFace game this Sunday? :)
No…but yes. I’ll try to be there.
-
Sounds fun!

Here's a write-up of today's game:

Nice. Sorry I wasn’t there. Wife kept me busy all morning…
We are back to being wonky with the schedule again. Any ideas for this Sunday?
-
Nothing yet but the X-wing "Battle of Yavin" trench run kit just showed up. I SHOULD be able to cover the pre-set forces, just need to download the latest updates and dig out the pieces.
.... of course, I will have to dump my CBT stuff into storage first. :(
-
Dude. Yes. Trench run. Do itttt
-
Hey Merritt, I found the write-up for the "Trench" scenario; it's just hyperbole.
-
Anything planned for this Sunday?
-
Well, we could replay the "Trench Run" scenario; I screwed up the set-up BIG TIME. Merritt also suggested a tweek we can try.
The ships/cards are pre-set (which helped ALOT) with a 35pt squad build.
I'm short one Tie/interceptor and dial, and I need to dig up two each X-wing and Y-wing dials.
-
Not sure if I’m gonna have this Sunday free, probably won’t know till later in the week. However, if I am free, who would be interested in cracking some Mechwarrior packs and having us some draft games?
-
I'm down for either of those.
-
Welp, they got me filling in on Sunday, so I’ll be out.
-
Well, flubargl.
Trench Run, then?
-
I still think you shouldn't be able to attack anyone in the trench without getting into the trench yourself. That's, like, the whole point of the scene. That was the big proposed change. We can talk it over Sunday though. Even though it could be improved (pretty easily in the one or two small ways Dennis and I figured out) it was still very fun.
-
Btw I want to play rebs this time and I will try not to exploit my meta knowledge in order to ensure victory. After all I killed everyone but Luke last time :P
-
I am extremely interested in playing it 100% as written.
If the situation doesn't match a preset expectation, it's not the rules that need to change, it's the tactics.
-
It also REALLY helps when you use the RANGE template for set-up and not the SPEED templates. :-[
As for the rebel dials I needed, I found two Y-wings from the the Scum pack (duh, forgot about those); one more X-wing, and a T-70 (the strait 3 is blue instead of white)
I still need one Tie/interceptor with dial; the card and template come with the kit. (and I have the tokens)
-
Which weekend are we doing Tanksgiving on?
-
Yes! In regards to Tanksgiving, just need to see who is available at what times. I have the 27th and the 4th available to me, as I will be leaving on the 7th. I have a scenario worked out, I just kinda need to know how many people are going to be playing.
Do we have a plan for tomorrow?
-
I’m free both of those…I think. Holidays are up in the air for me after all.
I’d like to show up tomorrow, but my back is killing me from getting This storage unit cleared out, so I think I’m just gonna rest.
-
I can be at the shop; I'll bring alpha strike
-
I'm available on the 27th, but if people decide to have it on a different weekend, I won't be upset. :)
-
Gents, its Marc, going to be in town for the holidays and brought some forces for a game. Going to be traveling back Sunday the 27th so how does a game Friday or Saturday (25 or 26th) sound?
-
WELL FRACK :(
Sorry but I'll be out of state this weekend. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and give Darrell a good razzing.
-
No worries, shooting for a Saturday game at Gen X around when they open at 11, I have some Blood Spirits versus Steel Vipers for Wars of Reaving game, hope ya'll can join us.
-
I can only make it on Sunday, but you guys have fun!
-

I can show for that. Need me to bring terrain or anything?
-
Sure, bring terrain or whatever you like and we can figure it out from there
-
I haven't been able to get much gaming done for a while but I do have this Saturday free in the late morning / early afternoon.
What kind of game specifics are we looking at and what needs to be brought?
-
I am bringing the forces and sheets, I think we just need maps, terrain, and admin stuff so between all of us we should have everything
-
Not gonna make it Saturday. We gotta push moving the last of this storage unit I’m cleaning out till the afternoon on Saturday. At least I’ll finally be done with working on this after this weekend.
-
Copy all, swing by in the morning if you can to at least say hi, otherwise, good luck, we are all counting on you
-
I'm afraid I can only do Sunday as well. Hope you guys have fun though :)
I'm trying to pull everything together for Tanksgiving but it's been difficult. The last week has been extremely painful when it hasn't been extremely busy. Who's still l planning on Sunday here?
-
*raises hand*
I'll be there.
-
I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it there this morning. Unfortunately had some care issues that had to be taken care of and several hours and $800 later the car is finally in working order and on the road again.
-
4th may be iffy. I won’t know till the last minute, and I’ve already filled in twice for people before we hit December. xp
In good news: I’ve got a new fdm printer on the way, and I’ve got some city layouts ready to be printed. Alongside a map I'm sure Zug will Love >:D
-
For the 11th, how would folks feel about a Solaris Grinder?
My thinking is that it would be intro tech, and instead of people choosing their mechs, all the record sheets would be placed into a single stack and folks would draw their mech randomly.
-
HUZZAH!!! I'M BACK :D
I am good for any games for the next three Sundays (4th, 11th, & 18th) as well as New Year's weekend.
-
HUZZAH!!
I picked up two new X-wing packs today: Hotshots and Aces II, and Siege of Coruscant scenario pack (Republic vs. Separatist)
Like the Trench Run scenario, the ships have standard loadout cards and each side has tweaks.
I had to purchase a third Eta-2 for the Republic, but otherwise I have all the ships for squad building.

Was anyone planning on sleeping up to this?
-
Still in the air here, and they are messing with schedule stuff again. I’ll try to make it if I’m off, but even if I am, I’m not sure I’ll make it.
-
I can be at the shop this Sunday. I'll bring Alpha Strike in case it's just the two of us. A grinder works better with more people.
I'll also bring the new X-wing packs to look at.
-
Coming next week...
-
I’m still not sure about this Sunday(18th) how would people feel about having an alpha strike game to celebrate the release of the new box set, or how about a Mechwarrior Dark age booster draft if I know I can make it?
-
I probably can't make it to GenX until after the new year, but if anyone's free, I'm gonna try to set something up for the 28th at Madness.
-
I can be at Gen-X on Sunday; I believe the two guys who bought the new begineer's box are going to be there as well.
-
Alright, I got the weekend off. I’ll be up at the store. 250 Alpha strike, or whatever the newer players can manage?
-
250 Alpha Strike sounds good to me. I'll bring a few forces and may have 1 or 2 other players joining.
-
Is that 250 tons or PV for AS?
Edit: NVM, I saw the Facebook post. How about SPA's, allowed to purchase?
-
Is that 250 tons or PV for AS?
Edit: NVM, I saw the Facebook post. How about SPA's, allowed to purchase?
Yeah, 250PV. Any SPAs you can get are from formations.
-
For the game at Madness, who's up for a game of UrbanBall? :D
-
Haven't read the Pseudo material yet but I saw the record sheets: I THINK I have some chain bits
also saw the cards for the American Levis: ADVANCED FIRE CONTROL
-
I don't know when I'll be able to show up again but Happy Holidays.
-
Since UrbanBall didn't happen on the 28th, who's up for trying it again at GenX on the 8th?
-
BING! BING! BING! BING!
I'm in
also, for those interested (or can still wake up), Darrell and I will be at Gen-X this Sunday (1st) at noon with some "old school" scenarios.
-

I may well be there :)
-
A force pack of Urbanmech variants?
OH HELL YEAH!!!!
-
And Snord’s, and a mystery pack, and republic dice >:D
-
Alright, unless they surprise me, I’ve got the weekend off. Do we know what we are doing this Sunday yet?
-
UrbanBall? :)
-
You gonna be up for it? I’m fine with it personally. I can bring the rainbow urbies. >:D
-
Well, the wife wants to push our anniversary plans to Sunday. I like my “Urbies” right where they are, so I’m not gonna argue with her.
Y’all have a good time, if something changes, I’ll try to show up.
-
I'm in!
The new Xwing stuff sounds totally boss too :D
-
Alright, 15th confirmed off. Do we have any plans?
-
I will not be there, got family stuff planned.
-
Alright, 15th confirmed off. Do we have any plans?
Darrell is planning to run some "old school" scenarios. He was also getting some of the new maps enlarged (2" hexes).
-
Alright. I’ll bring a 250 and a 6k force just in case someone wants to do something different, otherwise I’ll join in on whatever we end up doing.
-
I should be able to make it for the first time in a while!
-
Any plans for this Sunday?
If not, anyone up for a 6k game?
-
Any plans for this Sunday?
If not, anyone up for a 6k game?
OOOOOOOO a 6k game; I'm actually working on a unit for that. 8)
-
Sweet, I've got an absolutely horrible idea I want to try out. :)
-
Alright, Sunday confirmed off, so I'll be up there. 6K BV and all our usual rules. See ya'll up there.
-
I don't have easy access to my TAC-OPs manual, so I will ask here: I know ECM can block a C3 net; can Angel ECM be used to counter the ECM block?
-
If you put it in ECCM mode, 1 Guardian will cancel out another in ECM mode. An Angel in ECCM mode counts as 2 Guardians.
-
Thank you.
-
Correction: I just checked the book, and one Angel ECCM will counter *any* amount of non-Angel ECMs, or you can run the Angel as two normal ECMs in any mode.
-
I am in. See you then.
-
Alright, I’m free this Sunday (29th) unless something comes up. I’ll brink a 6k BV and a 250PV list to Gen-x and we will see what people want to do.
-
I'm down too. Still kinda want to try my new omni tanks >:D

Here you go. :)
-
I may be a little late to the shop, so whoever gets there first needs to secure a table.
-
Any plans for this Sunday?
-
Was wanting to do some Mechwarrior booster games. I should have Sunday off, but the weather has thrown everything off, so I’m not sure yet.
We can go ahead and plan for it, but I would also suggest bringing some classic or alpha forces just in case.
-
What does a booster game entail? Do I build a force beforehand?
-
That’s the best part, you don’t! >:D Standard sealed constructed rules: 3-4 booster per person. 300-450 points. Standard game rules. I don’t have some mats yet, but I’ll bring some painters tape to mark off area along with some terrain. If you wanna bring some of yours, that would be a help.
-
I think I've got some tape among the junk in my trunk, and if it's not soaked in antifreeze I'll gladly contribute it to the cause!
-
I think I've got some tape among the junk in my trunk
...I am not using any junk from your trunk.
-
I won't be there this Sunday, but will the next. Tanksgiving ahoy!
-
HUZZAH!!!
My copy of Dominion Divided and the Clan re-enforcement box came in the mail Friday; and today, I picked up the Hanson's Roughriders lance pack at Gen-X.
also, Darrell received a message from Mark Bradle; he'll be in town next month.
-
I won't be there this Sunday, but will the next. Tanksgiving ahoy!
What were the Tanksgiving rules again?
-
It's a holdout scenario. I've got all the sheets and everything so you guys don't have to worry about it.
The mission is survival.
A company of Lyran tanks have to hold out against an overwhelming Jade Falcon onslaught. These brave tankers volunteered to be the rear guard for their battalion's retreat. They have a favorable position, but the Falcon forces are endless. They've called for evac, but who knows if they'll be able to hang on? They'll have to hold off the Clanners long enough for the dropship to land and load up. Brave aerospace pilots are rushing to their aid, but only fate will decide if they'll make it in time to help.
Combat footage recorded on-site of Hauptmann Jonny Rico, moments before Aegis company's final stand (because for the life of me[/up] I can't put this gif in properly xp):
https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/540df2c4-7412-40f8-8551-d47efaa91b47/gif#0nL64ZZI.copy
It'll be an all out tank battle between diametrically opposed forces. Will the social generals carve up the turkeys for a takeaway dinner, or will the Falcon tankers prove their front-line betters that they shouldn't looked down upon?
Only one way to find out!
-
Aw, it's not the grab-the-turkey game anymore? I really want to play that one someday.
This seems familiar. Didn't we play this one a while back?
-
Yeah, we did the plates a couple weeks ago. I can always dig out the Gobbleball scenario, or whatever clever title I gave it at the time, and we can do it again. I dont know that I have it saved, it would likely be in the previous threads.
-
I'm good with whichever, just need to know ahead of time what I might need to bring, if anything.
-
I won't be able to make it on Sunday. I do have Monday off if anyone is interested though.
-

I'll shoot you a list ;)

Awwww, sorry to hear that man. Mondays are not really possible atm, I'm afraid.
-
Seems I was incorrect about Sunday's plans so I should be able to be there after all.
-
Any plans or ideas for this weekend?
-
Still waiting on the schedule, so if I can make it I’ll just go along with whatever you guys are doing.
-
How about a Duke/Jarl/Centurion day?
-
Works for me if I can make it.
-
Sounds great; I'll bring my sets as well.
... btw ... Death Commando UrbanMech PLUSHIE :laughing_skull: :laughing_skull: :laughing_skull:
-
Alright, so outside of the launch party thing being a disappointment, we have some choices: I’ve been talking to the lead over at TTS, and they are looking at that Sunday so to their unofficial launch day event. Do we want to go over there? Or do we want to run our own thing? I was thinking a Grinder and some beginner tables, so we’d need both big tables at Gen-X.
I’m cool with either and I get it if people don’t wanna go over that way. If we wanna run something, I’ll have plenty for us.
-
I think GenX might be doing a Pokemon prerelease that weekend.
-
New Battletech Players in the area, just was reading through this form, the first page and more recent posts, and wanted to verify the locations listed on Page 1 were still relevant since either location is a decent drive for me. I am located west of Fort Worth.
-
Welcome!
That info is indeed correct. There's also a few other places in the Metroplex that see regular Battletech games, but they're mostly to the east or north, in the Dallas or Denton sides of things.
I understand if it's too far too comfortably drive on a regular basis, but if you ever do find yourself in that half of the planet on a game day, feel free to drop by! Regardless of what we're playing that day, we'll always have something you can drive. :)
-
Thank you for the welcome!
Yes, finding the time to head over to Dallas can prove difficult especially having 2 little ones (3 & 1) but I do look forward to trying to make it out and have some time on a table.
-
Howdy! More than welcome over at Gen-X when you can make it. You can probably assume we are playing battle tech or Alpha strike, but check in here to see just in case. We play a bunch of other stuff, but we usually give notice beforehand.
-
Yep, Battletech and Alpha Strike are my current interests for tabletop, but am generally open to learning other tabletop games. Yeah GenX is a little closer (1 hour with no traffic) compared to Madness (1.5 Hours).
-
Note: the madness crew is over at Dallas games marathon, down the street from madness. I’m sure there are people who still meet up there, but you’d have to check out the Discords and Facebook groups.
-
Hey all, been a few for me but do you guys have anything planned for this Sunday (the 12th)?
-
I have been working on an asymmetrical scenario along the periphery. Conventional Militia only, no mechs, Vs an invading Clan Nova.
If someone would be interested in bringing a 300point Clan Invasion era Nova I would be down to do a test play of it.
-
I won't be there, but let me know how it goes, that sounds interesting!
On a similar note, on April 2nd, I'll be running a classic scenario from the old Tales of the Black Widow scenario book. Roughly company vs company, so ideally 2-3 players per side.
-
Well, after going back and forth a bit. I’m thinking we should just run a grinder at Gen-X ourselves. Unless anybody has an objection, I’ll write up something and get it posted here in a day or so for the 26th.
-
Any plans for this weekend? Whatever we do, I may have to leave early.
-
Unless anyone has an objection, This is what I've gone and came up with for the 26th. Already got the time off, so I'll see you guys up there.
Come celebrate the release of the Battletech Mercenaries Kickstarter with the DFW Mechwarriors guild!
What: Grinder
When: Sunday, March 26th
Where: Generation X in Bedford, TX. 12pm doors open.
Rules: Classic Battletech. Four Canon Mech designs, one from each weight class, any tech and era. Bring a good attitude and a desire to have fun.
Consider bringing a second set of mechs just in case you go through your first set. Otherwise: see you folks out there!
If you have any questions feel free to to PM me, and I'll be glad to answer them.
-
I'm gonna bring the Command Lance assassination scenario this Sunday. :)
-
Thanks for hosting this, was a lot of fun and a great way for a new player to dip their toes into full blown Battletech. Look forward to joining y'all on other weekends there.
-
Can I get the Discord info?
FYI, This is Bryan

Looks like everybody is getting a Big Mac poster...among a GREAT MANY other things. :)
-
ALL the things! >:D
-
Reminder: Grinder at Gen-X this Sunday(26th), be there AND be square.
-
BV limitations, pilots, skills, etc? Our just dealers choice and don't be a dick?
-
BV limitations, pilots, skills, etc? Our just dealers choice and don't be a dick?
Bring whatever, just make sure to read up on it real quick before the game, lol. Usual 3/4 pilots. One of each weight class, you know the drill
-
How does a grinder work?
-
It's a free for all with everybody driving a single mech. When you die, you respawn the next turn in a different mech. There is no scoring, just an afternoon of giant robot mayhem.
-
just make sure to read up on it real quick before the game, lol
Boy ain't that the truth... ::)
-
A reminder, this Sunday I'll be running a scenario from Tales of the Black Widow. Will the minions of Michael Hasek-Davion(along with the infamous Bounty Hunter) crush the famed mercenary company, or will the Widows escape the trap and lay claim to priceless Technicians? Join us at GenX from 12:00-12:30 on to find out!
-
If I’m free I’ll try to show. How many people does it play comfortably do you think? I’ll bring an extra force just in case.
-
It's a company vs company fight, so 6 players would be the ideal, with plenty of room for more.
-
Just a reminder: I’m gonna have to go in to work tomorrow. So I won’t be up at Gen-X. People can still meetup there if they want, just be aware that three of the regulars are not gonna make it.
-
Anyone up for a 6k game this weekend? I've got a MWDA-style force I want to try out.
-
I’m down for a 6k, with the usual disclaimers for me xp
-
I'll see what I can throw together.
-
Not sure if I'll be in but I still have a force featuring the new Hell's Horses OmniTank I want to try so 6k is good.
-
Still waiting on work, but we might have a couple of newer players, so if someone will make sure to have something planned for a learning game, that would be a good idea.
-
Ok, so I’ll be more consistent starting with this Sunday hopefully. Do we have any plans this week?
-
I think I can get up there this sunday. I'd like to try aerospace stuff if people are willing, but I don't have anything particular in mind.
-
Classic or alpha?
-
Classic, preferably
-
Sounds good. Our usual 6k BV sound good to everyone?
-
I won't be able to make it, sadly. I'll try to get there for the next air game.
-
I *might* be able to make tomorrow. You said 6k, all aero?
-
I wasn’t planning on all aero, but I’ll brink 6k of: combined and all aero for both classic and alpha.
-
Did we want to try that all aero game this Sunday?
-
Think we wanted to shoot for Alpha strike this week. Was about to ask about it.
-
Okay.
-
Alright. 250pv Alpha strike. Our normal rules, anything else?
-
250? Crap, that means I have to redo everything, I didn't know this was a tournament.
What happened to the 400pv regular games?
-
We can do 400. I went with 250 cause we might have a good amount of people and I know most of us would like to finish a game. At worst we can split up if we get a bunch.
-
Another thing that could speed things up might be to go back to standard damage rules. Honestly, I've been meaning to ask about that for a while. I get that individual damage is more granular, but from what I've seen in our last few games, it just turns things into a slow grind.
We've had very few problems finishing 400-pt games in the past, when using standard damage.
-
I’ve thought about it, but I legit don’t have a ton of interest in rocket tag. I don’t mind it so much when you have a ton of units, but it still feels like it’s gonna come down to the last few fast hard hitting units just trying to hit each other on 10-12s, first one to land a hit wins.
Honestly: we just need to focus up better, we always get stuff done well in time when we do. Even with a rough start, we managed to get a decent amount of rounds during the aero game cause we tried to keep tight.
-
Still want to try an all-aero game like Richard proposed sometime...
-
I’m still down. Definitely would like you to be there to help smooth out the rougher parts of our knowledge
-
Alright: 400PV our normal rules and formations. Anything else people can think of?
-
Are you all doing the AS game this Sunday? Do you have room for another? I have a free day. :)
-
There's always room for another!
-
Honestly: we just need to focus up better, we always get stuff done well in time when we do. Even with a rough start, we managed to get a decent amount of rounds during the aero game cause we tried to keep tight.
This.
I am about 98% sure I'm out for this weekend but I hope you guys have a good one!
-
Still want to try an all-aero game like Richard proposed sometime...
HUZZAH!!!
I may have just the scenario.
I'll bring the paperwork to Sunday's game.
-
Alright, unless somebody has something specific in mind. Do we want to do a 6k BV / 400PV game this Sunday(7th)?
-
I vote for a 6k game
-
Free upgrades to 3/4 pilots as usual I assume?
-
Yes. So only pay BV for the standard 4/5. If you want 2/3 or lower, you still have to pay the full adjusted cost.
-
Looks like the 14th is the only day I can make it this month. Would people be interested in an all-aero game then?
-
Nobody's objected, and since a lot of folks aren't fully familiar with Aero, I've put together several 6k groups that people can choose from if they don't want to build and bring their own:
1st group Gun/Pil
Thunderbird-D56 4/1
Thunderbird-D56 4/1

Okay, I tried to do a write-up of Sunday's dogfight, but no matter how hard I try, I cannot remember a single detail past the halfway point, and my brain is just shutting down. So here's a bunch of pictures, and the Transgressor was the only actual kill before the store closed.

Overall it was a lot of fun, and I really hope we can do games like this more often in the future.
-
It was lots of fun. :D
We should try having an objective next time.
-
Looked fun!
-
Any ideas for this Sunday(21st)?
-
I believe both sevengates and I are out that day.
-
Something we forgot to mention: the SRV range bracket is wrong on some of the record sheets.
-
HUZZAH!!
Just filled out the KS survey; added on $61 of stuff (though I accidentally picked TWO Big Mac coins)
also, our fearless leader Darrell will be at the shop Sunday with scenarios (no details yet)
-
Wish it was gonna be that cheap for me xp
-
I will not be there this Sunday, sadly.
-
Sadly I must take back my last HUZZAH.
I just discovered that I missed over HALF THE ADD-ON PAGE by stopping when I got to the re-issue manuals (because I didn't want any); I missed the dice, the 40th T-shirt, the PLUSHIES.
GAWD do I feel STUPID.
-
This is why they intend to unlock all the pledge managers one last time near the end, so folks can add stuff they missed. :)
-
Definitely have to plan out a Mechwarrior game next time you are free >:D
Speaking of game: we down for a pickup game of Alpha or Classic?
-
I will be at the store Sunday. Darrell said he would be there with some scenarios.
-
Ok. I’ll bring a 6K and 400PV force if anyone wants to that instead.
-
Ugh, meant to be there but had some stuff come up. Now I’m jonesing for some tech after three weeks. So, what’s the plan Sunday?
-
Darrell has something planned; he asked me to bring some specific Clan mechs.
-
Ok. I’ll try to show up this time :o I’ll bring the usual forces and terrain for those who don’t wanna play something pre planned.
-
We talked about Alpha Strike next week…would people be interested in running the Aces play test? Figured it would be something fun to try, and a bit of a break from our usual pvp style games.
-
Since I didn’t get any pushback, I went ahead and made two forces for an Aces play test. Miniatures provided, just bring dice. You can also bring a 200PV force if you want to run something you came up with. I’ll also bring the usual classic and alpha strike forces for some free play if people want to do that instead.
-
Looks like I might actually be available this Sunday. Are there any plans? Mechwarrior? Aero?
-
We talked about a classic game. My dad is in town, so I’m still trying to figure if I’ll be there. I’ve got the busts I had printed for you and whistler, but it might have to wait till next time.
-
6k game, then? I can do that.
One last question: Do we allow FAEs? They're not WMDs and I'm paying the full BV for them of course, but I still wanted to check before I brought any.
-
Uhh, I’d have to look. I don’t remember us talking about them. I assume we are talking about fuel air explosives, and not a white wolf role playing game ;D
-
Correct. :)
(The rules are in IntOps: Alternate Eras)
-
Any plans for this Sunday(25th)?
-
I should be able to make it.
-
Alright. We can go with our usual 6k and 400pv and see what people want to do when we get there.
-
Please remind me where to find the Liao motorized plasma rifle unit.
-
If you're talking about the plasma-armed monocycle, that's in TRO Irregulars.
Bear in mind, the stats and sheet the are NOT for a full motorized infantry platoon but for running the cycles as individual vehicles.
The only plasma-armed infantry unit I can think of are the Heavy Urban Response platoon in the Lyran infantry section of TRO 3085.
-
Thanks
-
Looks like this week is going to be clickytech. Psofan and I will bring a few forces each. :)
-
Mechwarrior gameday this Sunday. Forces provided, or you can construct your own using the construction rules below. either 1v1 or team games depending on number of players.
When: Sunday, July 2nd.
Where: Generation X in Bedford, TX. 12pm doors open, 5-5:30close.
Rules: 600 points, 4 orders. Splinter/Parent factions count as the same faction for formations and faction pride cards ( Dragon's fury/Combine, Spirits cats/Nova cats, etc)
-
Are there any plans for the 9th at GenX? Tomorrow is my only day to print sheets for that.
-
Unless someone has objections, I’d say let’s just plan for a generic pickup game. 400pv or 6k BV.
-
Alright, so mentioned this Sunday and during previous games, and I know Sevengates has been chomping at the bit for awhile now: how about a Classic game using the pilot cards this Sunday(16th)?
I was thinking:
Mix and match factions.
- cause not every faction has or has enough pilot cards, and not everybody OWNS all the pilot cards
You have to use the mech variant listed for that pilot.
- no putting that amazing trebuchet pilot in a bigger missile boat. You want them, you gotta put up with their ride.
Legendary pilots allowed, minus Morgan Kell.
- they will put a target on your head, especially Natasha, but that’s fine. However, I’m not sure everybody wants to put up with the five pages of text for phantom mech xp.
Ideas? Feedback? Concerns?
-
Are we using the PV/BV limits?
-
I was about to post up everything since there appears to be no pushback. Yes, our normal BV/PV 6k/400.
-
Gen-X this Sunday for some Classic and Alpha Pilot card mayhem!.
When: Sunday, July 16th
Where: Generation X in Bedford, TX. 12pm doors open, 5-5:30close.
Rules: Any tech, any era, any faction. 6K BV, or 400PV. We recommend bringing a force for each system.
Pilot cards are allowed. Pilots must be assigned to their specific Mech chassis and Variant.
You may mix and match pilots from different eras and factions.
Legendary Mechwarriors are allowed, One per player, excluding Morgan Kell.
Pay BV/PV assuming every unit is P&G 4/5 and Skill 4.
Pilots WILL have their printed P&G or a Skill rating equal to their Gunnery. SPA's as well. Incase said pilot does not have a SPA that exists in the game sytem they are being used in,
Treat them as having a Lucky SPA equal to their printed SPA cost.
-
A couple of quick questions:
Since MOST pilot cards have a matching Alpha Strike card, do you use that mech?
If there is no matching AS card, can you choose the variant?
(that's the way I'm going)
-
So, unless the card specified which variant, you could put them in any variant, as long as it’s that specific mech.
For example: Natasha specifically mentions the Widomaker on her pilot card. That that’s the version she has to be assigned to. (Not exactly a Downside…but still)
Delmar Clays pilot card says wolverine, but doesn’t specify which variant. So you can assign him to any Wolverine variant you want, as long as it’s a Wolverine.
-
Thanks
(now it's just a math problem)
-
Hey Evan, it looks like the Loew's Arlington Hotel & Convention Center IS the new convention center (or will be); I thought it was already complete.
-
Yeah, that’s what I thought. The way they go on about it, you’d think they’d already gotten it done.
-
Classic cityfight scenario at Gen-X.
When: Sunday, July 23rd
Where: Generation X in Bedford, TX. 12pm doors open, 5-5:30close.
Rules: Fixed city fight scenario, Standard Battletech rules, Forces will be provided.
Note: I'm not sure about the details, I was just asked to provide terrain. I'd suggest bringing a 6K BV and 400PV force for freeplay in case we don't have enough room or
the organizer cancels.
-
Gents, its Marc. Going to be in town next week, bringing forces for the city fight game Sunday the 23rd and I have forces for Sunday the 30th as well where I would love to use some 3D terrain as well.
23rd will be Republic of the Sphere versus Wolf for the ilClan and the 30th will be a classic Davion versus Kurita, I think you will like it
-
I will not be able to make this week unfortunately, and not sure about the week after.
-
I can make it to the game on the 23rd, but the 30th is AnimeFest.
-
Had a great time last weekend, this Sunday (the 30th) is an old fashioned Davion vs Kurita with a few surprises thrown in. It was great seeing everyone, and looking forward to this weekend as well then I am out of town on Monday. Hope to see you Sunday. - Marc
-
I should be there!
-
I ran into Sammy at AnimeFest set-up Thursday. He has been without a car this past year which is why he has been a no-show.
-
Yikes...
-
Gents, sorry to say not going to make todays game, AC issues at the folks house so cant make it. Hopefully next time Im in town we can do a big game. Thanks, Marc
-
That sucks. I'll bring a 6,000bv and 400pv group then, and we'll see what all we can do.
-
Alright, any plans for this Sunday?(13th)
-
I think I'll be available, whatever we decide to do.
-
Well, unless somebody had something in mind…go with our usual 6K BV / 400PV pickup game?
-
Sounds good to me.
-
I was thinking Gaslands for a change of pace.
(but I'll also have my usual stuff)
-
Honestly, I think I'd prefer some Battletech. Gaslands is fun, but I've had to miss so many games this summer and now that we've finally got my dad moved in I'm really looking forward to getting back into some regular giant robot smashes.
-
okey-dokey... I MIGHT be a little late for the game.
-
Was gonna ask if we had anything we wanted to do this Sunday(20th). We will be down a person or two, so I figured another pickup game till we have a better idea of how many people we will have, then we could plan for something else perhaps.
-
Ok, we’ve been workshopping this since Gencon, so unless there are any objections…
You heard of a Battletech grinder...but a Alpha strike grinder?!?!?! Join us for a Alpha strike grinder this Sunday at Generation X!
When: Sunday, August 20th.
Where: Generation X in Bedford, TX. 12pm doors open, 5-5:30close.
Rules: Four formations of units(Trey, lance, star or level II) each a different point size( 125, 150, 175 and 200) Any unit types and special abilities.
Skills maybe upgraded, but not downgraded. When a formation is reduced to 50% or less, the player may withdraw the remenant of that formation, and come on to the board with the next highest PV formation on the following turn. Scoring is: one point per Size of the eliminated unit. Multiple dice rolls and Hexed play rules.
We recommend bringing more then one set of formations incase all four are destroyed. Either way, extra formations will be provided for people who need them or who want to join in.
-
Alright, so anybody have an idea for this week? We talked about doing a casual game day, but nothing set in stone.
-
I should be there, up for whatever.
-
Alright, so do we just shoot for a general game day? Everybody bring board games/card games/etc of interest and we go from there?
-
Board game day? I'm in.
-
What was that board game that was a mix of wild west and supernatural happenings? It was lots of fun (and not just because it had dynamite)
-
Shadows of Brimstone. I’ve been actually sorting stuff and making more curated sets of cards so it’s easier to transport and have organized, but I’m still not done with it. I’m also working on the new Kickstarter stuff as well, but I’ve gotten about ten out of a thousand models for that done so far
I was gonna bring: The Thing board game, Shadowverse decks, Magic Commander decks, and a few other random board games I’ve got.
-
Alright, ideas, plans, schemes for this Sunday?(3rd)
-
I’ve gone ahead and posted our usual casual game day post on the discords. I may not show up depending, I’ve been fighting a really bad sinus headache all week and I’m ready to lie down and hide under some covers all of Sunday.
-
Better to play it safe and take care of your health; no reason to push it.
-
Feeling a bit better finally. I’ve got a double tournament weekend for Shadowverse this weekend(9th-10th) so I won’t be up at the shop. If y’all want me to post the usual boiler plate on the Discords, let me know. Same if you want to do anything different.
-
Alright. locals are dying down while we wait for the new set, and I don’t have anymore tournaments till next year. What do we have planned for this week?
-
Would anyone be up for some Leviathans this Sunday?
-
AAARRRRRR and AHOY!
-
I’d be somewhat interested, but there is a good chance I won’t be able to make it.
-
Gents, its Marc
Going to be back in town and bringing some forces for games Oct 8 and 16, should be a grand ol time, hope to see you there
-
Speaking of games…anything planned for this Sunday? (1st) might be the only weekend I’m free for October, I’ve had a bunch of stuff I need to take care of come up.
-
I won't be able to, sorry.
-
I'll be available for whatever is planned.
-
Wonder of wonders I think I can make it :D
-
I'm not going to. Forgot this was new set week for Shadowverse, so I'm hitting up some tournaments on that side of town all day.
I should be free the 29th...so I was thinking a custom scenario... NIGHT OF THE LIVING URBANMECH
-
Great! Looking forward to seeing everyone both Sundays, this Sunday (8th) is Kurita versus Davion so lots of fun to be had
-
I'll be there.
-
I should be there.
Should we come with our own forces and if so how many points?
-
As I recall the standard is 3000 BV with upgrade pilot for free in Classic and 400 points upgrade as normal in Alpha Strike.
Sounds like Marc is bringing specific things for this one but I will bring my stuff as well just in case.
-
Hey guys, fairly new player was hoping to get some questions answered so I can hopefully get some games in thanks!
1. Are most games arranged on the forums?
2. Are games being played mostly classic or alpha strike?
-

2. Are games being played mostly classic or alpha strike?
1: Either here or on the North Texas Battletech Discord. PM me and I'll get you a link for the latter.
2: It's about an even mix, I'd say.
3: Welcome to the forums! The 'prove you are human' bit goes away after ten posts or so.
-
Gents, good to go for Sunday and the Battle of Huntress, see ya there!
-
I'll be there ..... with an unexpected surprise.
-
Let us know what the surprise was!
-
Are there any thoughts or plans for this Sunday?
-
Yeah, been meaning to post up the game I mentioned, been busy last couple of weeks. I’ll have it up, shortly.
-
Join us at Generation X for a special Halloween game... NIGHT OF THE LIVING URBANMECH!
When: Sunday, October 29th.
Where: Generation X in Bedford, TX. 12pm doors open, 5-5:30 close.
Rules: Miniatures and record sheets provided.
-
:smilie_happy_clapping:
-
...aaand thanks to my spotting a serious scheduling error on the part of my boss, I'm stuck working that day and cannot make it to the game. Again. :headbang:
-
I will try my best to be there :D
-
Are there any plans for the 19th of this month? If folks are up for it, I'd like to run a CAV Tanksgiving game.
-
I'll dig my stuff out.
-
I'll probably not be there this week. I got Birthday stuff on Saturday, and two store championships for Shadowverse. If I can make it Sunday, I'll bring our usual 6k/400PV.
-
So, is there a plan for tomorrow?
-
I can be at the shop tomorrow.
-
WELL FRAG :headbang:
I can't find my box of CAV minis, just the rule book and the old source books.
I'll still be at the shop this Sunday.
-
Alright, I assume everybody is gonna be out of town for turkey week, or are we gonna have a few stragglers?
-
I won't be able to make it, sorry.
-
Are there any plans for GenX this Sunday? 6k game, perhaps?
-
I can be there; just need to pull my stuff out of storage.
-
Dennis, I'm afraid I won't be able to make it tomorrow. Got to do more prep for the Australia trip. Sorry man :/
-
Not a problem; have fun down under (and in Australia )
-
Ok, just wrapped up another visit to the Orthopedic doctor. Gotta keep off my hand for a bit, so I’ll probably still be missing till next month. Hopefully I’ll be free by then, so I look forward to seeing y’all then.
-
Gents, its Marc, gonna be in town for Christmas/New Years and have a fun scenario planned
Looking to do a Wars of Reaving Scenario, and its kinda big so thinking of playing it over the 30th and 31st.
We can take pictures of the board Saturday and then set it back up Sunday, also that way if you can only make it one day there is still fun to be had.
Looking forward to seeing everyone
-
I should be able to make both days (since I'm on vacation for the holidays); thanks to Darrell for giving me a heads-up.
-
Merry Christmas if you celebrate it.
My kiddo bought "Dad's robots" at random and somehow scored me a Clan Adhoc Star.
-
Good for you :smilie_happy_clapping:

What time does it start?
-
Opens at 1100, that’s when everyone is getting there
-
What's the deal for tomorrow?
-
Just bring something for both set-ups and we'll go from there.
-
Looks like the next time I can make it is the 21st. Would folks be interested in an aero dogfight?
(I can bring fighters for anyone who doesn't have any/doesn't know what to choose.)
-
sounds like fun; gives me time to track down that storage pack.
Will this be classic or Alpha Strike?
-
Classic
-
Thanks
-
I forgot to ask: How much BV?
-
6k. And if you can't get things quite on it, I highly recommend looking at bringing some of the air to air missiles found in TacOps, or look into upgrading one or more pilots.
I'll be bringing a few forces, for the folks who can't easily choose.
-
Here are the groups I'll be bringing this Sunday for people to use:

-
Dunno who's going to be at the store tomorrow, but it looks like there's someone new going to be there wanting to learn how to play.
-
I'll be there with my stuff.
-
I won't be there sadly. After the week Stina and I just had... We're both just exhausted.
-
!!!!!!SAVANNAH MASTERS (x4) :smilie_happy_clapping: !!!!!!

FYI, the North Texas Battletech Discord server has set up dedicated channels for the various major gaming stores in the area, including GenX, for the purpose of coordinating games and whatnot. Any games that get announced here I'll post to the Discord, and vice versa.

Is there any kind of plan for this Sunday?
-
How about Gaslands?
btw.....the store's front table is still covered with discount board games.
-
Sounds good to me!
-
Any plans for this Sunday? The 18th.
-
I'll be there with Battletech (both versions)
-
Sorry about the lack of updates, been a hectic week. Weirdo and I are both interested in playing the new Homeworld board game this Sunday (25th). We’ll be up at the store with our copies, feel free to join us, or if you want to bring Battletech, we should have plenty of room.
-
We missed a bit:
"Any command card can be used to issue a Basic Order which is one of the four actions Move, Attack, Reinforce and Harvest. Lay the card face down the special order effects are ignored."
-
Well that's definitely helpful.
-
Do you all have anything going on this Sunday? (3-3-2024)
-
Just normal battletech/alpha strike I imagine.
I’ve got cards games this week, but I may be free next Sunday.
-
I can be at the shop for Battletech, or other options if available.
-
I'm afraid I won't be there. Gottoo much project work. :/
-
Might be the only other Sunday I have free this month (10th). If we have interest, would people like to play some…BIG strike?
-
Whatever it is, I game.
Do I need to bring anything?

Just dice, I’ll provide everything else. I’m trying to figure out my work schedule, but I should be good to go. I’ll write up a blurb here in a bit and get it posted.
-
We will be up at Gen-X this Sunday for some...BIG Strike!
"The battle for Hesperus II began on January 3rd 3145, when a joint Jade Falcon–Hell's Horses force led by Khan Malvina Hazen landed on the planet. Archon Trillian Steiner had received word of the impending attack from Loki agents but the weakened LCAF lacked the means to repulse the invasion themselves. Instead, Archon Steiner implemented a different stratagem: she ordered Loki to leak word of the invasion to Khan Alaric Ward, correctly guessing that he'd react by mounting a counter invasion of his own.
A day after Hazen's force landed, warriors from the Wolf Empire reached Hesperus. The LCAF had withdrawn most of its garrison by this point and the remaining Commonwealth troops evacuated after putting up minimal resistance.
The subsequent Wolf assault upon Hazen's forces resulted in nearly two months of stalemate. An impatient Malvina finally mounted a last-ditch attempt to seize the factory on 23 February, ordering that her nuclear weapons be ready for use in case of failure. Then Khan Beckett Malthus made an assassination attempt on Malvina, putting her into a coma and throwing the entire force into confusion as orders for retreat were broadcast. It was then that the LCAF's counterblow landed. While the Clans had been bogged down, Archon Steiner gathered a liberation force at nearby Canonbie. The fresh LCAF units dropped onto enemies already tired and demoralized, and within a week had routed both Clan forces."
Models and terrain provided, just bring dice and a good attitude.
When: Sunday, March 10th.
Where: Generation X in Bedford, TX. 12pm doors open, 5-5:30pm close.
Rules: Alpha Strike. Multiple Damage rolls, Formation rules.
-
Hey Glen, got any time this week or Sunday to try the Star Trek game at the shop?
-
I'll be happy to help out on Sunday.
-
Awesome, thanks man! I'm really looking forward to giving it a try :D I got the rulebook in a binder all nice and everything.
-
Sure, down to try it on Sunday.
-
My plans changed this Sunday, so I’ll be up at the store with a 6k classic force.
-
I can be there.
-
We got some people coming to the metroplex on the 7th of April. What’s peoples interest in a Grinder or a more scripted scenario?
-
Come join the DFW Mechwarriors guild for a classic Battletech Grinder this Sunday at Generation X comics in Bedford!
What: Grinder

Where: Generation X in Bedford, TX. 12pm doors open till 6pm.
Rules: Classic Battletech. Four Canon Mech designs, one from each weight class, any tech and era. Floating Criticals, Alternative ammo, Sprinting. P&G 3/4.

If you have any questions feel free to to PM me, and I'll be glad to answer them.
-
I'll be there
-
As will I.
-
I'd like to do an aerospace grinder on my birthday weekend (May 19th).
-
OOOOOOOOOO that sounds like fun.
-
Anything going on tomorrow?
-
Usual free play, nothing fancy. I might have something planned for next month, but I’ll have to get back to working on it.
-
HUZZAH, HUZZAH!!!!
After waiting 'til 1pm for someone to show up at Gen-X, I headed out and about. At the Barnes & Noble in Addison, I found a copy of Encounters Battletech. Fortunately, I had enough Reward points to pick it up for FREE (along with a couple of cookies).
:smilie_happy_clapping:
-
Very cool!
Does it look like something we could all play for an afternoon?
-
Probably want to bring some other games as well, but yes it fits nicely into an afternoon of casual gaming.
-
It says ONE to 8 players, so you could teach yourself.
-
I'm down for casual gaming. I could bring my Duke/etc stuff.
EDIT: Wait, no, I can't make this weekend. Sorry.
-
Alright. Feeling like some ‘tech this week since my event Saturday has been cancelled. Any plans?
-
I will be at Gen-X on Sunday.
Randy and I played a few rounds of "Encounters" this past Sunday; it's a pretty quick learn. We "THINK" we have the Equipment cards figured out.
-
Looks like we got some people for Alpha Strike, so I guess we plan for that. I’ll bring stuff for both just in case.
-
YOIKS!!!
Youtube is streaming Space 1999, Farscape, and Thunderbirds.
Decisions, decisions, decisions
-
With end of May June/July looking like the delivery date for wave one of the Kickstarter. Do People have a preference for a time for a Grinder/trade day to celebrate? I was thinking late June or mid-July, but I though I’d ask.
