All fair comments. While the Grizzly has its faults it is a hard Mech to improve on while keeping it a Grizzly. You should have seen the arguments over the XL engine.

Grizzly 3s and Kodiak 6s providing close support for Bruins, Viking IICs, Nova Cats, Atlas IIC 3s, or Cyclops Cs, close range boomstick partnered with less boomstick but frustratingly not dying when it should.

I forgot to post trothkin than my Kickstarter arrived.

In addition to a Direct Fire Star I secured six (!) Visigoths, two Blood Asps, a White Raven, a (third) Phoenix Hawk IIC (10) and Callandre Kells SM5 to go with my Clan forces. Plus or minus a couple IS mechs subbing in for IIC’s maybe… bringing it closer to three full Clusters (bout a Cluster unassembled and at least a Cluster of Elementals in Novas)

Now my IS Mercs added 54 Vehicles, 8 Battle Armor Suits, and another battalion of mechs (including more Urbies) bringing it to basically two regiments total.

Definitely going to acquire a couple more Grizzlies, another Bane for a conversion to a 3 model, and maybe another White Raven

Going to do a full inventory soon, maybe tomorrow and sort all the new maps and swag

FM: Warden Clans, page 76 states that both Tseng and Jorgensson were among the many soldiers decommissioned from the SLDF on Babylon. It says although they no longer served as soldiers, both trained regularly on simulators to hone their mechwarrior skills.

The book Invading Clans, also says they were both trained as mechwarriors on page 10.

We know Sandra Tseng piloted an Imp during Operation Klondike gifted to her by Nicholas Kerensky (she's the notable mechwarrior for the Imp in Op. Klondike). We don't know what Hans piloted.

I don’t think Hans would have been anything but a MechWarrior. His brother Cal is quoted numerous times being jealous of his brothers fame and I personally don’t believe that rivalry would have been as bad if they had been in different services.

The mechwarrior question is settled. Multiple sources confirm he was one.

I'm also now intrigued by the question of what his personal ride would have been.

In the book Invading Clans there is this bit of art on page 11. A likely stylized/artistic Ghost Bear in the background, arms wide, roaring, on its hind legs. While in the foreground is this strange 'mech I don't recognize in a similar pose. Humanoid battlemech with a cannon atop each shoulder. Made me wonder if that was meant to represent Hans or something. It could be nothing of the sort.

We know Hans came from the Rasalhague region of the Combine. But as he joined the SLDF those origins (and the Clans' desire to shed the old) may mean nothing in terms of any 'mech preferences he may have.

Since his wife drove a 100 tonner, I'm inclined to say he might have as well. Looking at the Klondike RAT I find myself eyeballing the Annihilator, Thunder Hawk, Atlas II, Pillager.

Pillager weirdly makes sense to me. Comparing the arms to the Kodiak.

But given the emphasis of speed (even in an assault) I could see him going for a 4/6 'mech. Helping to establish early on the Bears love for both firepower and more speed than you typically find on an assault 'mech.

Truly just guessing here.

IMHO this Battlemech is a Shadow Hawk IIC 2. This variant of the venerable Shadow Hawk IIC has two shoulder-mounted ER Large Lasers.
But I do not think it could have been Hans`ride, because it was introduced much later.

There is a picture of a Ghost Bear Thug in Op Klondike, but there is no indication it is of Hans or otherwise

EDIT: actually, the "35" on the shoulder probably indicates it's not
