Modeling a Manatee
« on: 04 September 2013, 17:00:12 »
So, I am looking to create a 3D model of a Manatee Dropship.  My Reasoning is that it is pretty small, and one day, if I get a 3D printer, it would make a pretty fun piece for Map Scale games.

Anyways, here is the art:

I have a few opinion questions that I need to know about before modeling.

First, how many engine struts does it have, 5 or 6? I originally thought 5, but now I am thinking 6...

Second, how many engines at the bottom does it have? I see 5, so does that mean 11, 10 with 1 in the middle, or 13? or only 10?

Third, the fluff says it has 5 doors, but the art obviously has only 1, though it may be the art for the cargo version.  Should I put a door between each strut if it has 5 engines? or should I just stick with the one that I see in the image?

Fourth, and finally, the dimensions are listed as Length: 37m Width: 35m and Height 31m.  I take this as 37 engines to nose, but I can't think of why the width and height are not the same, it looks perfectly round.

I am thinking I will make it 30 meters in diamter, 35 meters tall with 2 meters for the engines at the bottom, and the struts will provide any extra dimensions to the width and height.

Thoughts?
