Writing in finished on Supplemental II, now for editing and off to layout after that.

In the meantime, I will be providing a sneak peak for one faction as voted on by the fans on Discord.

That should be up in the next couple of days.

The Clan Field Manuals are coming together, one of the biggest tasks being aligning the time line of 20 Clans and keeping it all straight and without contradiction.

Also, the first three chapters of the first book have had their full write up, and they are monsters, coming in at about 18,000 words together. But they do the task of showing the formation of the KU Clans and some of the threads that will come into play throughout the story.

Are they Field Manual not the Field Report that's been put out?  How are they different?

Faction sneak peak for Supplement II, focusing on the Anti-Spinward Union. I am hoping to have the whole thing done in the next week.

KU 12 - Inner Sphere Supplement: 3034

Available here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/68p8roygnszkdw4s83rtb/h?rlkey=hqj6s2oeu8faa4g6ejzilzkpc&dl=0

Only two years have passed since the Hegemony Intelligence Directorate took stock of the Inner Sphere, but much has changed. Entire states have fallen, wars of revenge have been waged, and ComStar’s ghosts returned to haunt the people of Terra.

While the chaos swirled, the leaders of Terra have been forced to come to terms with the existence of a power that could rival their own, as Kerensky’s descendants prepare for their return to the Inner Sphere.

The Kapteyn Universe is a Fan Fiction alternate setting for the BattleTech Universe, crafted by many hands across 13 years.

Inner Sphere Supplement: 3034 provides an overview of the period from 3032 to 3034, covering major events, players, and campaigns. Also provided are National summaries, and full deployment tables for every military in the Inner Sphere.

Book Structure:
Inner Sphere Supplement 3032 is a Kapteyn Universe fiction supplement designed to offer information on the progress of the Inner Sphere since Inner Sphere Supplement 3032.

  • The first section of the book provides a short look into the history of the Inner Sphere during 3033, detailing campaigns, events and major political actions.
  • The second section moves the narrative into 3034 and utilizes the same format for information as the previous section.
  • The final section provides national summaries for all the major and minor powers, as well as deployment tables for every regiment and WarShip in service.

An update for everyone. Field Report: Loyalist Clans is progressing well. Clans Burrock and Cloud Cobra are complete, with Clan Mongoose well underway, and the older write up of the Nova Cats to be reviewed and updated next. That leaves the Sea Foxes and Steel Vipers.

All the background data and structure is now in place, so each Clan should move along a lot faster compared to the Burrocks and Cobras, who were the test bed Clans for the format and layout.

No hard date on the release yet, but it will be at least 2-4 weeks away at the absolute minimum.

It'll be worth the wait, saving the best for last. This has been a very interesting AU, keep it rolling!

So IIRC, the order of publication is:

  • Loyalist Clans: Burrock, Cloud Cobra, Mongoose, Nova Cat, Sea Fox, Steel Viper
  • Crusader Clans: Blood Spirit, Fried Mandrill, Ice Hellion, Jade Falcon, Smoke Jaguar, Star Adder, Widowmaker
  • Warden Clans: Coyote, Goliath Scorpion, Wolf, Wolverine
  • Unaligned Clans: Ghost Bear, Hell's Horses, Snow Raven

I like how instead of the binary Crusader-Warden divide, this AU has three factions and a few uncommitted. Makes for more interesting Clan politics, even if the only sworn enemies I see actually on the same side are Jags and Adders, and Bears and Horses if 'unaligned' counts as a side.
All Clan totems are equal but some are more equal than others.

"The Succession Wars solved no problem. Their effects, both immediate and indirect, were either negative or disastrous. Morally subversive, economically destructive, socially degrading, confused in their causes, devious in their course, futile in their results, they are the outstanding example in Spheroid history of meaningless conflict."
The Third Star League's view of the Succession Wars, plagiarised from an ancient Terran historian's judgement of the Thirty Years War.

I know it's only a typo, but "Fried Mandrill" cracks me up! :D

Yup, that is the order.

Yeah, adds a lot more to the politics of the Clans and a lot more variability. It also means that Loyalist backed Warden backed votes (10-8) will be easier to overturn by a Trial of Refusal than loyalist backed Crusader votes (14-4), unaligned votes not withstanding.

Then having the Burrocks, Mongooses, Cloud Cobras AND Snow Ravens playing politics, things will be very much more interesting.

A typo, yes, but hardly accidental

Yup, that is the order.

Cool, thanks for confirming. Something else to look forward to this winter.

Must say that getting to write the secret history of Clan Mongoose is a real bit of fun. Especially telling the Mongoose side of the story up to when they were absorbed in canon. They have a lot to do in the rest of the story, but are rapidly becoming my favourite Clan.
