Battletroopers
« on: 11 August 2023, 17:21:33 »
I'm looking to maybe start a Mechwarrior game or get a squad together for all the BattleTroops games I'll never get to play

What is the difference between Steiner 25mm Battle Trooper I, DS-137 and Steiner 25mm Battle Trooper II, DS-138? They look like the same model. I'd like to know before I commit to picking up the 5 man fireteam.

The differences appear to be pretty minimal. They were both from the BattleTroops Steiner Laser Rifle Platoon box and likely represent the same troop type.

There's actually one big difference; 138 has a backpack on, which you can JUST see the top of past his shoulder. I certainly didn't notice it until I flipped it over.

Much appreciated!

Speaking of Battletroops: Is there any plan to make singles available instead of having to buy the 8-figure packs? I know IWM has singles of the Steiner and Kurita platoon figures, but the other houses are kind of limited....

The other houses didn't get platoons made before the project ended, so their aren't platoon packs to sell singles from. <shrug>

Yeah, but there are still the existing minis for each of them. The ones sold in 8-packs.

Those were minis for the Mechwarrior RPG rather than BattleTroops. Fully compatible, sure, but designed around RPG character types rather than a gang of goons. I'm really curious if the packs are still carded from when they were originally produced or if these are new castings where a single mold includes all the minis and they don't want to store leftovers of the unpopular sculpts in the pack.

The DS-137 has a communication style backpack, the DS-138 doesn't.
