Had a good game at 500 PV. I’ll try and figure out pictures later.
Got to test out the stores 3D table/terrain. Most of it was 40k scale so we ended up not using any buildings which worked out good enough. No good hills were available so we used some boxes. Map was set up with a set of woods and hill on each of our sides, diagonal from each other. There was also a pond/stream that went through a forest directly in the middle of our map.
I played a short clan Binary (Executioner TC, Mad Dog Mk III B, Timber Wolf C, Viper B, Grendel T, Summoner HH, Stormcrow P, Ice Ferret Prime, Adder Prime) vs a Lyran Compmay (2 Commandos, Wolfhound, Hatchetman, Wolverine, Griffin, Archer, Thunderbolt, Banshee, Battlemaster, Atlas III, Zeus). Both forces were nominally dark age era.
Got off to a good start for me, about turn 3 I was able to take out two commandos and the wolfhound, in exchange for a few damage on the Stormcrow. I was also able to savage the Wolverine before he escaped around a hill for a turn. I was able to stay at range for a while and in the woods that allowed my superior skills to do some work. My right flank was unable to do much but distract the assault lance.
I was able to hold onto the pond and used it to put a couple overheat mechs into the water. I was able to flank with the viper and get some back shots. I ended up taking down the damaged Wolverine and the thunderbolt. Once the Lyrans were able to close the range down the dice swung as well.
I missed a couple hefty overheats and my right flank collapsed. The last turn saw my shutdown Grendel get demolished, my Mad Dog whiffing on fives to finish off the Zeus, while the Lyrans were able to hit he Mad Dog on 8s finishing off the short Binary entirely. Had he not been hit then he would have been able to escape in the end.
I was hot early and cooled off, MarauderD was the opposite. My Thor only hit once the entire game, the turn it died. I had really hoped to use its Heat special to slow down the assault lance. I can’t really think of any large tactical errors on either side. Although I probably should not have kept a whole third of my force in the middle pond area where they could be focused by everyone, although they did fairly well from there. A couple key misses forced targeting changes on my part which should have resulted in dead mechs or crit, but resulted In nothing more than scratches.
Ended up with my short Binary being totally wiped out against a nearly dead Zeus, a beat up but thriving Banshee, the Atlas III, the Archer, and the Griffin.
Had a good time despite both our dice betraying us at different times.
