Can a fighter be stored and maintained in an appropriately sized vehicle bay, with the obvious caveat that such a bay would not posess any launch or landing ability?
(My thinking, to better explain this: A naval support vessel that carries a number of amphibious conventional aircraft for support, such as Seabusters. It would use a lift hoist to move the fighter from the bay to an adjacent water hex, whereupon the fighter would take off, fly, and land on it's own. After landing, it would 'taxi' to a hex adjacent to the vessel, and the ship's lift hoist would then move it into the bay. Given that conventional fighters have a max weight of 50 tons, such a vessel could save a lot of storage space by using Light Vehicle Bays instead of Aerospace Fighter Bays for the 'hangar'.)
