This thread is for all issues and problems with Tactical Operations.

Product Link: http://bg.battletech.com/?wpsc-product=tactical-operations

There are two versions of Tactical Operations:
2008 - first and only printing
2010 - revised release - NOTE: PDF ONLY

Current errata version is 2.1, and can be found here:
http://bg.battletech.com/errata_files/CAT35003_Tactical_Operations_Errata_2.1.pdf

Please remember to follow the errata report template when reporting issues.  Thanks.

Developer-Level Errata
In case of any contradiction, developer-level errata takes precedence over the current errata document.

* Heavy and Capital Weapons (p. 131)
Add the following sentence to the end of the second paragraph: "The exception being Gun Emplacements, which may mount weapons equal to their CF/3, and Castles Brian which do not divide their CF when calculating weapon tonnage."

* Marine Points Tables (p. 202)
After the second table (Battle Armor Modifiers), add the following footnote: "*Any weapon as shown on the Burst-Fire Weapon Damage Vs. Conventional infantry Table (see p. 217, TW)"

* Sensor Range Table (p. 222)
Under "Sensor System", replace "Clan Active Probe*" with "Clan Active Probe/EW Equipment*".

* Advanced Support Vehicle Engine Weight Multipliers and Fuel Weight Percentage Table (p. 246)
Internal Combustion (ICE), column "B", change "2.0" to "3.0"

* Advanced Support Vehicle Engine Weight Multipliers and Fuel Weight Percentage Table (p. 246)
Change "**ICEs running on alcohol or natural gas use 1.5 percent." to "**ICEs running on alcohol or natural gas use 1.25 percent."

* Advanced Support Vehicle Armor Tables (p. 253)
Rail and Satellite (Small/Medium)
Change "Rail and Satellite (Small/Medium)" to "Rail (Small/Medium)"
Change "Nose, Left, Right, Aft**" to "Front, Left, Right, Rear**"

Rail (Large)
Change the Armor Facings entry from "Nose, Fore-Left, Fore-Right, Aft-Left, Aft-Right, Aft**" to "Front, Front-Left/Right, Rear-Left/Right, Rear**"

Satellite (Large)
Change "Satellite (Large)" to "Satellite (All sizes)"

Large Airship
Change the Armor Facings entry from "Nose, Left, Right, Aft" to "Nose, Left Wing, Right Wing, Aft"

* Cloud 9 Airship armor example (p. 254)
Change "to the other three locations (Left, Right, and Aft)" to "to the other three locations (Left Wing, Right Wing, and Aft)"

* Step 4: Install Weapons, Heat Sinks, and Equipment (p. 266)
In the first paragraph under "Heavy Weapons", change the second sentence from "The maximum tonnage of such weapons that may be mounted per hex—discounting ammunition, turret mechanisms and heat sinks or power amplifiers—is equal to the Fortress CF divided by 10." to "The maximum tonnage of such weapons that may be mounted per hex—discounting ammunition, turret mechanisms and heat sinks or power amplifiers—is equal to the Fortress CF divided by 10 per level of structure."

* Watchdog CEWS (p. 278)
Remove everything from the last line of the first paragraph (game rules box) after the end parenthesis; the Watchdog has the same range as a standard Clan Light Active Probe.

* Battle Armor Detachable Weapon Pack (DWP), Construction Rules (p. 286)
Replace
"Each DWP occupies 1 slot in the suit's body, and may carry only one weapon (and its ammunition)." with
"Each DWP occupies 1 slot in the suit's body or arm, and may carry only one weapon (and its ammunition)."

* BattleMech Melee Weapons, Construction Rules (p. 288)
Between the BattleMech Melee Weapons and Claws paragraphs, insert a new paragraph that reads:
Chain Whip: A Chain Whip weighs 3 tons and occupies 2 critical slots. A Chain Whip can only be mounted in a 'Mech's arm, and then only in an arm that includes a hand actuator.

* BattleMech Melee Weapons, Construction Rules, Shield (p. 288)
In the second line, after "Shields have no special actuator requirements" add, ", but each missing arm or hand actuator in the arm containing the shield reduces its DA and DC by 1 (see p. 291)."

* BattleMech/ProtoMech Partial Wing (p. 292)
In the Prototype Design Date and Production, add "3074 (Mercenary ['Mech])"

* Partial Wing, Construction Rules (p. 292)
Replace the second sentence with "The BattleMech Partial Wing weight is a percentage of the total mass, 5 percent for Clan and 7 percent for Inner Sphere tech level (rounded up to the nearest half ton). It occupies 3 critical slots for Clan and 4 for Inner Sphere in each of the unit's side torso locations."

* BattleMech/ProtoMech Partial Wing (p. 293)
Change the Tech Base (Ratings) from "Clan (F/X-X-E)" to "Clan (F/X-X-E) - (Inner Sphere 'Mech only)"

* Limited Amphibious Construction Rules (p. 302)
Change "...weighs 1 ton per 25 tons of total unit weight (rounded up to the nearest 0.5 tons)..." to "...takes up weight equal to the unit's total tonnage, divided by 25 (rounded up to the nearest half ton)..."

* Fully Amphibious Construction Rules (p. 302)
Change "It weighs 1 ton per 10 tons of total unit weight (rounded up to the nearest 0.5 tons)..." to "It takes up weight equal to the unit's total tonnage, divided by 10 (rounded up to the nearest half ton)..."

* Missile Launchers (p. 326)
Under “Construction Rules”, append the following to the end of the second sentence, inside the closing parenthetical: "to a minimum of 0.5 tons (0.25 tons for Clan-made systems)."

* Improved One-Shot (I-OS) Missile Launchers (p. 327)
Remove "PM" from the "Available To:" line.

* Specialized Infantry (Cont) (p. 341)
Between "SCUBA (Standard)" and "SCUBA (Motorized)", insert the rules for SCUBA (Mechanized), attached to the bottom of this post.

* BattleMech Turret box (p. 347)
At the end of the first paragraph, append the following line: "If a quad 'Mech mounts both a quad 'Mech turret and a head turret, then its head turret may not fire to the rear."

* Arrow IV Homing Missiles (p. 354)
Game Rules, 4th bullet point, 3rd sentence:

"This is treated as a hit from a direct-fire ballistic weapon, resolved against the unit's facing relative to the TAG unit that designated it."
Change to:
"This is treated as a hit from a direct-fire ballistic weapon, resolved against the unit's facing relative to the unit that fired the missile."

* Super-Heavy Vehicles (p. 378)
First column, last paragraph.  Change
"All Super-Heavy Combat Vehicles use the Super-Heavy Vehicle Hit Locations Table, and must apply armor and structure to 6 facings (plus any rotors or mounted turrets) rather than 4." to
"All Super-Heavy Combat Vehicles apart from VTOLs use the Super-Heavy Vehicle Hit Locations Table, and must apply armor and structure to 6 facings (plus any mounted turrets) rather than 4."

* Mech Engine Type Modifier Table [Addendum] (p. 381)
Replace the entire table with the one attached to the bottom of this post.

* Clan Weapons and Equipment BV Table [Addendum] (p. 385)
The BV for the Clan 'Mech Mortars should be as follows: Mortar/1: 10; Mortar/2: 14; Mortar/4: 26; and Mortar/8: 50. Ammunition BV is unchanged.

* Clan Weapons and Equipment BV Table [Addendum] (p. 385)
The BV for the Clan Arrow IV Artillery Weapon should be 240. Ammunition BV is unchanged.

* Large Naval Vessel Templates (p. 401)
Type B - change "T2" to "T3"; add "T2" to the Pivot Point
Type C - change "T3" and "T4" to "T4" and "T5" respectively; add "T3" to the Pivot Point
Type D - change "T4", "T5", and "T6" to "T5", "T6", and "T7" respectively; add "T4" to the Pivot Point
Type E - change "T5", "T6", "T7", and "T8" to "T6", "T7", "T8", and "T9" respectively; add "T5" to the Pivot Point

(this is in line with the errata implemented in the 2nd print that large naval vessels may have a turret on every hex of their length, including the pivot point)

* BattleMech Melee Weapons, Chain Whip (p. 404)
Change the damage dealt by this weapon from "3* (NA)" to "3 (NA)"

* BattleMech Melee Weapons, Chain Whip (p. 405)
Change the criticals occupied in a 'Mech by this weapon from "2*" to "2"

* BattleMech/ProtoMech Motive Systems (p. 405)
Change
"Partial Wing ('Mech) Clan F/X-X-E NA / 3067P 50,000xIT TT ÷ 20* 6* NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA" to
"Partial Wing ('Mech) IS/Clan F/X-X-E 3074 / 3067P 50,000xIT * 8/6* NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA"

* Heavy Weapons and Equipment Construction Data (p. 409)
Mobile HPG: Change Heat from "NA" to "40"
Ground Mobile HPG: Change Heat from "NA" to "20"

* Heavy Weapons and Equipment Construction Data (p. 409)
Improved One-Shot Launcher, change the P value from "+0" to "NA".

* Heavy Weapons and Equipment Construction Data (p. 411)
Supercharger, add a footnote to the Item/Ammo Cost of "10,000xER" at the bottom of the page stating:

"Support Vehicles, which do not have an engine rating, use engine tonnage instead."

* Battle Armor Mine Dispenser (p. 412, 413)
BA Mine Dispenser rules in TechManual are superseded by those in Tactical Operations page 412/413.

* Advanced Four-Legged/Prone 'Mech Hit Location Table (p. 421)
Replace the Advanced Four-Legged/Prone 'Mech Hit Location Table with the table attached to the bottom of this post.

* UNKNOWN PAGE NUMBER
New rules for Infantry TAG systems have been attached to the bottom of this post (paired with the Mechanized SCUBA infantry rules).

TO. p220-221
Double Blind; Sensor Spotting

Text and tables do not discuss how Support Vehicles interact with the rules.

Suggest:
1. State that Support Vehicle Advanced Fire Control uses the same ranges as Vehicle IR and Vehicle Radar.
2. State that Basic Fire Control IR has a range of 8/16/24.
3. State that Basic Fire Control Radar has a range of 4/8/12.
4. State that Support Vehicles without any Fire Control do not have access to electronic sensors.

1: This lines up that Advanced Fire Control "advanced fire control enables support units to function with equal efficiency to combat units," p.218 TM.
2+3: This makes Basic Fire Control inferior to 'Mechs and vehicles, (and Battle Armor Heat Sensors and Improved Sensors) and with a linear relationship with the ranges of those two.
4: This cover SVs that lack anything, making them equal to Conventional Infantry.

Paul
The solution is just ignore Paul.

TO p77, Floating Critical Rule

Existing text:
  • When a player rolls a 2 on the Hit Location Table, ignore the Torso hit location.  Instead, roll the dice a second time to determine where the shot actually hits.  If another 2 is rolled, that result indicates the shot struck the appropriate torso location.  It does not indicate another possible critical hit.  If the result is other than 2, the shot strikes the appropriate hit location.

Recommended clarification text to be appended:
  • If the newly determined location is protected by partial cover, roll a new location until you get one that is not protected.

pp.406, Revised Release .pdf

None of the Improved Heavy Lasers have an "X" in their Type column, even though pp.321 describes them as explosive.

PDF Copyright 2008-2010, Topps Company

Pages 8-9, Introduction
Each use of the word "object" in the last sentence of bold text underneath a book title should be "objective" judging from the context.

Page 30, Base Terrain Types - Buildings
"...(see p. 114, of this rulebook and p. 166, TW, respectively..."  (Underline mine.)

Possible Solution: Remove the underlined comma.  It's causing a comma splice and breaks up the flow of the sentence.

Page 31, Base Terrain Types - Jungle - Chainsaw
"... except that it take three turns instead of two..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Take needs to be "takes".

Page 32, Expanded Movement Costs and Planetary Conditions Tables - Sand

MP Cost is .5.  Per the sand rules on page 39 of Tactical Operations, Sand is supposed to have a split MP cost for 'Mechs and vehicles, +1 / +2

Solution: Change MP cost to +1 / +2.

Page 32, Expanded Movement Costs and Planetary Conditions Tables - Water Depth 2-15

The footnote for Rail in the restricted units should be 21.

Page 35, Expanded Movement Costs and Planetary Conditions Tables (cont.) - Roads
Two problems here.

Problem #1: All three road types are marked as adding to the cost of the underlying terrain.  Per rules on page 51, they only reduce costs to 1 for certain unit types but do not affect cost for other units.  Remove the plus signs for the roads.
Problem #2: The (T/H/I) note for paved roads should be applied to gravel roads per rules text on page 51, TacOps.

Page 35, Expanded Movement Costs and Planetary Conditions Tables (cont.) - Paved

The footnote should be 22, not 3 - this isn't a road but the skidding rules do apply.

Page 46, Fire and Smoke Resolution Sequence Example

"As the building in hexes D and E is not apart of the building in Hex B..."

Solution: Separate the bold word into "a part".

Page 48, Geysers - Terrain

"If this causes the terrain to collapse (such as a building), players resolved that event at the end of the phase in which the geyser erupted."

Solution: Resolved should be "resolve".

Page 57, Searchlights

Not a problem, per se, but some sort of reference to the searchlight construction rules on page 237 of TechManual may be appropriate so people know that BA, support vehicles, and aerospace units are equipped with hand-held searchlights by default.

EDIT: BA do not receive them for free.  SVs and aerospace units apparently do.

Page 61, Moderate Gale

Fourth paragraph: "WiGE, VTOl: Apply a +1 modifier to all Piloting Skill Rolls."  (Underline mine.)  Vehicles make Driving Skill Rolls.

Solution: Change underlined word to Driving.

Page 80, Glancing Blow

Third paragraph, third sentence: "If using the Linking Weapons rule (see p. 74)..."

Solution: The Linking Weapons rule starts on page 85.

Page 81, Missed Shots - Swarm and I-Swarm

"...(see p. 371, respectively)..."  Both weapons have their miss rules on page 371 in the same text box.

Solution: Delete the word "respectively".

Page 87, Suppressing Fire

First paragraph, last sentence: "...the Morale rules as well (see p. 21)."

Solution: The Morale rules start on page 211.

Page 93, 'Mech Limbs Example

Second paragraph, second sentence: "...is 2.5 tons [8.5 (total internal structure weight) x .1 = .85 + 1.43 (26 (arm armor) / .9 (to remove the ferro-?brous 1.12 multiplier)) = 23 / 16 (standard armor per ton) = 1.43) = 2.28, rounding to 2.5)."

The final parentheses in the quoted text needs to be a square bracket to match the opening notation.  The second parentheses after "1.12 multiplier" needs to be deleted; the proper termination point for that set of calculations is after 1.43.

Page 122, Construction Factor (Expanded) Example

Second paragraph, second sentence: "...customized Zeus (located in Hex H."

Solution: Add a parentheses after the period in this sentence.

Page 122, Construction Factor (Expanded) Example

Picking up after the above correction, the example itself needs to be corrected... somehow.  Sniper Artillery Cannons do not damage adjacent hexes under the current rules.  Because of that, it should be dealing 20 damage to the target level and 10 damage to the levels above and below it.  From that damage, the fourth level won't collapse.

Page 123, Construction Factor (Expanded) Example

Remove the quotation mark at the end of the example.

Page 131, Advanced Building Construction

Image in the bottom left is displacing a single line of text partially into the yellow margin at the bottom of the page.  (Confirmed with Foxit Reader 4.3 and Adobe Read 10.1.)

Page 132, Advanced Building Construction

Chart in the left column is pushing a single line of text separate from what's already a short paragraph.  (Confirmed with Foxit Reader 4.3 and Adobe Read 10.1.)

Page 137, Environmental Sealing

The first sentence of the first paragraph needs to end the bold formatting after the colon after the word "Construction".

Page 142, Castles Brian Complexes Example
Per developer errata in the first post of this thread, a Gun Emplacement can have up to 1/3 of its CF in weapons tonnage; the first two described emplacements are over that.  I'll handle them individually by their hex designations.

Beginning in the left column, last paragraph: "The “E” emplacements were established as Light structures, receiving a CF of 15, an equal amount of armor and six tons of weapons..."

Solution: Either increase the CF to a minimum of 18 and make them Medium structures or decrease the weapons tonnage to five tons.

Continuing in the right-hand column, next sentence: "The “F” emplacements, meanwhile, are Heavy structures, with a CF of 65, 64 armor points and 30 tons of crew-served weapons..."

Solution: Either increase the CF to a minimum of 90 or decrease to 21 tons of weapons.

Page 146, "Bloody Dividends", Exeter Organization Warehouse

Left column, third paragraph, second sentence: "...a towering SC PowerMan LoaderMech..."

Solution: PowerMan should be Powerman per TRO: Vehicle Annex page 206 and Historical: Operation Klondike page 158.

Page 153, Combat - Area Effect Weapons

First paragraph, second sentence: "...a Large Tractor in Hex A has a two Small Trailers..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Remove the underlined word.

Page 154, Charging Rail Vehicles

Fourth paragraph, second sentence: "The standard rules for determining if a the Tractor/Trailer is derailed..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Remove the underlined word.

Page 155, Surfacing Large Naval Vessel Support Vehicles

First paragraph, first sentence: "...use the Submerged/Surfaces rules..."

Solution: Change to "...the Submerged/Surfacing rules...", emphasis added for clarity.

Page 155, Collisions

First paragraph, second sentence: "...damage is equal to the current armor of the location which struck the target, plus that locations current internal structure..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Insert apostrophe as follows: location's

Page 157, 'Mech Mounting (on deck)

Third paragraph, third sentence: "Assign damage normally (see Falling Damage, p. 57, TW)."

Solution: Change page reference to page 68 of Total Warfare.

Page 160, Resolving Sinking

Fifth paragraph, second sentence: "... use the Submerged/Surfaces rules for Mobile Structures..."

Solution: Change to "...the Submerged/Surfacing rules...", emphasis added for clarity.

Page 160, Units Mounted on a Sinking Vessel (on deck) - 'Mechs

Third paragraph, third sentence: "Assign damage normally (see Falling Damage, p. 57, TW)."

Solution: Change page reference to page 68 of Total Warfare.

Page 161, When a Hex of a Sinking Unit is Destroyed - 'Mechs

Left column, first paragraph, first and second sentences and right column, second line: References to Falling Damge, p. 57, TW or Falling Damage to a 'Mech, p. 69, TW.

Solution: Change all three page references to page 68 of Total Warfare.

Page 161, When a Hex of a Sinking Unit is Destroyed - Naval Units

First paragraph, first sentence: "...when it hits the water’s surface (see Falling Damage, p. 57, TW);..."

Solution: Change the page reference to page 68 of Total Warfare.

Page 163, Unit Destruction Example

Right column, third full paragraph, fourth sentence: "Randomly determining the location, the damage is applied to the front armor, leaving it with 54 points of damage."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Replace the word damage with armor.

Page 164, Carrying Units

Right column, first full paragraph, first sentence: "...use the Launching/Recovering Fighters/Small Craft rules (see p. 84, TW);..."

Solution: Change the page reference to page 86 of Total Warfare.

Page 167, Avoiding a Collision (Ground and Water Mobile Structures)

Second to last sentence: "Units moved in this way have expended their movement by walking/cruising)..."  There's no open parentheses to close; this may indicate a missing open parentheses somewhere earlier in the sentence.  If not, remove the parentheses.

Page 168, Stacking (Ground Mobile Structures)

Second paragraph, first sentence: "The hexes underneath a Ground Mobile Structure are treated as Light Woods for movement restrictions and LOS (see Movement Costs Table, p. 52, and Attack Modifiers Table, p. 116, respectively, TW).

Solution: Change second page reference to page 117 of Total Warfare.

Page 170, Carrying Units - Air Mobile Structures

"(see Launching/Recovering Fighters/Small Craft, p. 84, TW)."

Solution: Change page reference to page 86 of Total Warfare.

Page 173, Accidental Falls From Above

Second paragraph: "In the case of a Mobile Structure falling onto another Mobile Structure, use the size difference as shown in the Submerging/Surfacing rules..."

Solution: Change Submerging/Surfacing to Submerged/Surfacing.

Page 186, Counter-Battery Fire Example

Right column, first full sentence: "The battle itself is taking place on a 12-mapsheet area (4 x 4)..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined text to "...16-mapsheet area..."

Page 190, Boarding Actions (Non-Infantry) Example

Fourth paragraph, last sentence: "As the 18 points exceeds the Bar of 10 only once..."

Solution: The word "Bar" should be in all capitals as it refers to the Barrier Armor Rating.

Page 203, Resolving Infantry vs. Infantry Actions Example

Right column, second paragraph, first sentence: "...+5 (each mounts a burst fire weapon)...  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Underlined words should be hyphenated (as they are elsewhere in the example) as "burst-fire".

Same sentence: "...14 ((five standard Clan Elemental battle armor with machine guns; medium weight class = 3 each)...  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Underlined number should be 15 (5 * 3).

Page 208, Image Caption

"Word of Blake battle armor sweep for minefields ahead of an on-coming force."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Underlined word should be "oncoming".

Page 214, Rearming Aerospace Units

First paragraph, third sentence: "...(Large Craft with fighter/Small Craft bays; see Launching/Recovering Small Craft, p. 84, TW;..."

Solution: Change page reference to page 86 of Total Warfare.  In addition, insert a close parentheses between "TW" and the semi-colon.

Same sentence: "...(see Flight Deck, p. 312))..."

Solution: Delete second close parentheses.  The sentence structure and third page reference suggests there's not supposed to be something enclosed between this close parentheses and the open parentheses in the correction immediately above.

Third paragraph, second sentence: "On a result of 1 through 7..."  The referenced 2D6 roll has no possible negative modifiers, meaning that it can never come up with a result of 1.

Solution: Change 1 to 2.

Page 214, Gauss and Plasma Weapons

Last line: "...other reloading attempts for 10 space minutes."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Underlined word should be "turns".

Page 215, Simultaneous Movement Example

Last sentence: "... Movement Record Sheet Sample at the bottom of this page."  The sample is at the top of the page.

Solution: Change bottom to top.

Page 215, Movement

First paragraph, last line: "...the contested hex (see Stacking, p. 216)."  (Underline mine.)  The Stacking rule is on the same page below this text.

Solution: Change the underlined text to " below".

Page 221, Sensor Spotting

Right column, second full paragraph, last line: "...(see p.  Initiative Phase, p. 221)."

Solution: Change to: "...(see Initiative Phase, p. 220)."

Page 225, Water Line LOS Example

Left column, second paragraph, last sentence: "The submarine is just with in visual spotting range."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined text to "within".

Page 225, Attacking Across The Water Line

First paragraph: "All physical attacks and weapons..." and "...fully submerged target automatically fails."

Solution: Either change all to any or change fails to fail.

Page 240, Internal Structure/Structural Integrity Values

Right column, full paragraph: "Like Internal Structure points on BattleMechs, WorkMechs, ProtoMechs..."  (Undelrine mine.)  The proper rules term for a WorkMech is IndustrialMech per usage on Total Warfare pages 20 and 21 or TechManual pages 64-75.

Solution: Replace underlined text with IndustrialMech.

Page 250, Advanced Support Vehicle Minimum Crew Tables

Additional Crew Table, first line: "Communications Equipment (per ton, see p. 213, TM)"

Solution: Change page reference to page 212 of TechManual.

Page 251, Fire-Control Systems:

Last line: "... in order to reduce the crew’s need for all mounted..." (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change to "crew needs".

Page 254, Step 5: Add Weapons, Ammunition and Other Equipment

Last line before TechManual Items: "...Weapons and Equipment (pp. 201-251, TM, 274-375)."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined page reference to page 249 of TechManual.

Page 254, Space

Last line: "...and in this book (pp. 274-375)."

Solution: Change page reference to pages 404-411 of Tactical Operations.

Page 255, Weapons

First paragraph, first sentence: "...found on pp. 350-352 in TechManual."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined page number to page 349 of TechManual.

Page 256, Fire Control Systems

First sentence: "... to reduce the crew’s need for all mounted weapons."

Solution: Replace underlined text with "crew needs".

Page 257, Cloud Nine Airship Example

Beginning with the last line of the left column: "These quarters will require 2 item slots (75 steerage quarters ÷ 50 quarters per slot = 1.5 slots, round up to 2)."  There are only 15 steerage quarters mounted although they take up 75 tons total.

Solution: Change to: "These quarters will require 1 item slot (15 steerage quarters ÷ 50 quarters per slot = 0.3 slots, round up to 1.)"

Page 258, Jormungand Example

First full paragraph, last sentence: "...26 [turrets] 188 [ammo]..."

Solution: Insert a plus sign between [turrets] and 188.

Page 261, Choose Class, Size, And Shape - Skybase Example

Last sentence: "H takes the maximum hex size..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: H should be He.

Page 263, Install Motive System, Freighter Example

Second paragraph, first sentence: "...(168 tons ÷ 20 hexes = 8.2 tons per hex, round up to 8.5)."  (Underline mine.)  168/20 = 8.4

Solution: Replace underlined number with 8.4

Page 266, Step 4: Install Weapons, Heat Sinks, and Equipment

Third paragraph, first sentence: "...(see pp. 201-245, TM)."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined page number to 249.

Page 267, Mobile Structure Firing Arcs

Second paragraph, first sentence: "Capital weapons—including capital missile launchers and sub-capital weapons (see p. 343) receive..."

Solution: There should be a dash between the end parentheses and the word receive.

Page 269, Airbase Example

Left column, fourth paragraph, third sentence: "The remaining hex..."  The total is correct but the list of items lacks the field kitchen included in the central hex (see second paragraph, first sentence).

Solution: Insert the following text somewhere in the calculation: "(1 Field Kitchen x 3 tons)".

Page 289, Chain Whip Game Rules

Third paragraph, second sentence: "–1 for every weight class (ProtoMech, Light, Medium, Heavy and so forth) the Attacker outweighs the Defender, a –1 to-hit modifier applies to the grapple attack; if the Defender outweighs the Attacker, a +1 modifier applies for each weight class of difference."

Solution: Either remove the -1 at the beginning of the sentence or the underlined phrase; the former would be more consistent with the rest of the sentence.

Page 289, Claw Game Rules

Second paragraph, third sentence: "...wield an improvised club, with an additional +2 to-hit penalty (see pp. 146-147, TW)."

Solution: Change the page reference to pages 145-146 of Total Warfare.

Page 289, Flail Game Rules

First sentence: "The Flail attacks like a hatchet (see pp. 146-147, TW)..."

Solution: Change the page reference to page 146 of Total Warfare.

Page 290, Lance Game Rules

First sentence: "...the Lance attacks as a hatchet (see pp. 146-147, TW)..."

Solution: Change the page reference to page 146 of Total Warfare.

Page 290, Mace Game Rules

First paragraph: "...Hatchet’s To-Hit Location Table (see pp. 146-147, TW)."

Solution: Change the page reference to page 146 of Total Warfare.

Page 291, Shield Game Rules - Passive Defense Mode

Fourth sentence: "...Hatchet’s To-Hit Location Table (see pp. 146-147, TW)."

Solution: Change the page reference to page 146 of Total Warfare.

Page 292, Vibroblade Game Rules

First sentence: "...as a sword (see pp. 146-147, TW)..."

Solution: Change the page reference to page 146 of Total Warfare.

Page 299, CASE II Game Rules

Second sentence: "...such as described on p. 261, TW..."

Solution: Change page reference to page 161 of Total Warfare.

Page 316, Handheld Weapons Game Rule

Fourth and eighth paragraphs are identical word for word.

Solution: Delete one paragraph or the other.

Page 340, Specialized Infantry Fluff

Right column, last sentence: "From minesweepers to bridge builders, demotions to fieldworks; specialized infantry are the true workhorse of any campaign."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined word to "demolitions" and underlined punctuation to a comma.

Page 340, Specialized Infantry Construction Rules

Second paragraph: "...per the standard Conventional Infantry rules (see p. 141, TM)."

Solution: Change page reference to page 145 of TechManual.

Page 341, Demolitions Engineers

Last line: "...any damage from the collapsing structure will (see pp. 177-178, TW)."

Solution: Change page reference to pages 176-177 of Total Warfare.

Page 344, Sub-Capital Missile Game Rules

Second sentence: "Space-based Point defenses (see page 96, SO)..."

Solution: Capitalize the letter D in defenses.

Page 350, VTOL Jet Booster Game Rules

Second sentence: "...avoid a sideslip (see p. 68, TW)."

Solution: Change page reference to pages 67-68 of Total Warfare.

Page 351, Xenoplanetary Condition-Trained (XCT) Troops Game Rules

Fifth paragraph, first line: "Vacuum, Trace, Tainted, or Toxic Atmosphere: XCT troops appropriately..."  (Underline mine.)  Text lacks bold in the book; this is inconsistent with the third and fourth paragraph.

Solution: Bold the underlined text.

Page 356, Smoke Artillery/Arrow Missiles Game Rules

Second paragraph, third sentence: "...with heavy smoke (see p. 46)..."

Solution: Change page reference to page 47.

Page 357, Thunder (FASCAM) Artillery/Arrow Missiles Game Rules

Second bulleted paragraph, third sentence: "The one except is if..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change the underlined word to exception.

Page 359, Arrow IV Homing Missiles (Air-Launched Version) Game Rules

First paragraph, second sentence: "...their standard launcher-based version (see p. 355)..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change page reference to page 354 of Tactical Operations.

Page 362, Oil Slick Ammo Game Rules

Second paragraph, first sentence: "... to avoid a skid when passing through the hex (see pp. 62-65, TW)."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined page number to page 64 of Total Warfare.

Page 365, EMP Mine Game Rules

Second paragraph, fifth sentence: "...(such as Remote Sensors, C3 Remote Sensors, or Collapsible Command Modules, see pp. 357, 298 and 301, respectively)..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined page reference to page 375 of Tactical Operations.

Page 378, Super-Heavy Vehicles

Second bulleted paragraph, first sentence: "...including, if desired, the Large-sized engines presented on p. 308."  Normally, equipment references are to the fluff and games rules, which are on page 307, not the construction rules.

Solution: Change page reference to page 307 of Tactical Operations.

Page 378, Advanced Battle Values

Main header paragraph, first sentence: "...presented in the Tech Manual..."

Solution: Change the book title to TechManual.

Observation: Page references to the Battle Value section in TechManual are inconsistent in style.  Most seem to be including the examples but one (Advanced Infantry on page 379, first paragraph, to TM page 309) only goes to the rules themselves.  The Satellite (TO 378) and Airship (TO 379) references are incorrect either way and should point to either page 312 or pages 312-314 in TechManual depending on whether you want the examples or not.

Page 379, Mobile Structures

Step 2, last paragraph, second sentence: "Use the mobile structures maximum MP rating."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change the underlined word to structure's.

Step 3, last paragraph, first sentence: "...Gunnery 4 and piloting 5 skill levels."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Capitalize underlined word.

Step 3, last paragraph, second sentence: "...(see Construction a Battle Force, TM p. 314)."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change underlined word to Constructing.

Page 379, Advanced Infantry - Step 2: Calculate Offensive Battle Value

Last paragraph, first sentence: "Use the infantry unit’s fastest movement model..."  (Underline mine.)

Solution: Change model to mode.

Page 380, Actuator Enhancement System Example

"A Zeus mounts an AES... the Zeus is computed as if..."  (Underline mine.)  'Mech names in examples are normally unitalicized; see the Blue Shield example at the top of the next page for an example.

Solution: Unitalicize both instances of the Zeus in the example text.

Page 385, Aerospace Weapons and Equipment BV Table (Addenum)

Footnote: "Thunder Bomb has a BV equal to seven 20-point minefield of the appropriate type of mine."

Solution: Change underlined word to minefields.

Page 386, Target Acquisition Gear (Expanded)

Last line: "...or Semi-guided Mortar ammunition:-"

Solution: Change end punctuation to a period.

Page 406, Variable-Speed Pulse Lasers

All are marked with the AI tag.  Per TW page 114, this is implied to mean burst damage, which VSPLs do not deal; this is reinforced by the language on page 221.  While it doesn't actually say "This deals burst damage" the strong implication may be confusing so something might need to be reworded somewhere.

Page 320 or 406, Small Extended Range Pulse Laser

Weapon has the AI tag in the chart on page 406 but the rules on page 320 don't mention burst damage from the small ER pulse laser.  Since the X-pulse laser rules on page 321 make a specific point of mentioning the burst damage for the small X-pulse laser, this is either a consistency problem that implies the small ER pulse laser doesn't behave the same way or the AI tag on page 406 should be removed.

Tactical Operations PDF with 2008-2010 copyright, page 307: Engine Systems:

Exploding Fuel Tank rules for CV-Fission and CV-Cell engines are missing. See:
http://www.classicbattletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,8509.msg217830.html

Suggestion:
Add the following line to Combat Vehicle Fission: Game Rules:
"Fission engines lack explosive fuel, treat Fuel Tank hits as Engine hits."
and
add to Combat Vehicle Fuel Cell: Game Rules:
"Fuel Cell Fuel Tanks explode on hits, in the same way as ICE engines."

A Chain Whip can only be mounted in a ’Mech’s arm, and then only in an arm that includes a hand actuator.

* BattleMech Melee Weapons, Chain Whip (p. 405)
Change the criticals occupied in a 'Mech by this weapon from "2*" to "2"

The two errata entries above seem mutually exclusive. The first just adds a construction rule, the second removes the footnote signalling special construction rules. The second errata would only apply if the first was not added.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this.

The Construction Rules section for Chain Whips is added simply because it's the only weapon that didn't have one - the section was likely accidentally left out.  Removing the asterisk from the chart simply says that it occupies 2 criticals always - there's no need to consult said construction rules for further detail on this matter (unlike before, when the Chain Whip occupied a varying number of cirticals based on other factors).

Tactical Operations PDF with 2008-2010 copyright, page 292: Mechanical Jump Boosters construction rules:

The Mechanical Jump Boosters construction rules lacks any mention whether they can be pod-mounted or not.

Suggested solution:

Figure it out and add a sentence describing if they are pod-mountable.

Neufeld, I asked about OmniMech use of Mechanical Jump Boosters before the old board went down, and was told by Herb that MJBs are pod-mountable. Archived thread is here: http://www.classicbattletech.com/forumarchive/index.php/topic,48614.0.html

I quite agree, though, that having this explicitly stated in the rules is warranted.

Page 89: The Physical Weapon Attacks Addendum Table gives the to-hit modifier for a Flail as +1; this is repeated on page 421. Meanwhile, the Flail's entry in the Heavy Weapons And Equipment Combat Data table on page 404 lists its to-hit modifier as 0.

Since the Flail's rules text on page 289 describes it as attacking like a Hatchet "with an additional +1 to-hit modifier to all attacks" and the normal to-hit modifier for hatchet attacks is -1, I believe the latter value to be correct. (This would also be consistent with the almost immediately following Lance, which is described as attacking like a hatchet with an additional +2 to-hit modifier and indeed has a final +1 modifier in all three tables.)

Look at the the PDF's at http://www.classicbattletech.com/downloads/TacticalOperations_RecordSheets_and_CompiledTables.pdf

On P. 22 under the Advanced Buildings Cont., it says "Liquid Fuels/Chamicals".  I'm betting it's supposed to be "Chemicals," so I thought I'd report it.

In this TM errata post, I noted the missing SuV Chassis Availability Ratings. The same pertains to TO.

From Combat Equipment, p. 88, Support Vehicle Chassis Table, 4th column, the Availability Ratings of Large Airship, Large Naval, and all Satellite and Rail vehicles need to be extracted and put into TO in an appropriate place.

Beyond that, the two types of engines appropriate only to rail (and thus introduced in TO) found on p. 103 of CE, need to have their own Availability codes in TO. Per CE, p. 103 this is

Electric (External) - C-C-C
MagLev - D-F-E

Note that technically, the External Power Pickup is also a unique chassis modification, but seeing this is also rated C-C-C and intrinsically linked to the Electric (External) engine type, there is no particular need to include this Chassis modification's availability rating.

TacOps p304 says:

"Battle armor suits may only carry Disposable Weapons if they are also equipped with an anti-personnel weapon mount (with sufficient weight capacity) or two armored gloves."

However, APWMs no longer need to allocate mass to weapons under the latest changes to TW/TM, so the "with sufficicent weight capacity" appears to be a relic of the older version of the rules.

Suggested change to the above text as follows:

"Battle armor suits may only carry Disposable Weapons if they are also equipped with an anti-personnel weapon mount or two armored gloves."

Per http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,14833.0.html,
remove the two last paragraphs on page 106.
On page 361, und the Coolant Ammo Game rules, change the first sentence in the first paragraph as follows:
Current:
"Coolant ammo also reduces the heat level for any heat-tracking target by 3 points per hit (to a maximum of 9 cooling points per turn)."
New:
"Coolant ammo also reduces the heat level for any heat-tracking target by 3 points (4 points when fired from a Heavy Flamer) per hit (to a maximum of 9 cooling points per turn)."

No rules are provided on how combat medics work, the only information we have on them is that
"Any infantry unit with Paramedics that moves adjacent to (or into) a hex where there are wounded individuals may tend to up to 10 wounded individuals starting in the following turn"
And MASH equipment does not have rules yet (which where supposed to be in TacOps) which would be the closest match

First, your link to the Errata is 404'd so I couldn't check this. But I did read the whole thread before posting, and it wasn't listed.

pg 62, Extreme Temperatures says repeatedly that the extremes are below -30C and above +50C. But the Expanded Heat Point Table (pg 63), High Temperature reads "+1 per turn per 10 degrees Celsius above 30 degrees Celcius."

Also, the Expanded Heat Point Table doesn't seem to appear in the Tables at the end of the book.

Thanks for the report on the links - they've changed the website address - I've updated accordingly.

Report filed; hopefully it makes it into the new printing.
