In short, the background was that the IS Clans were miffed about the 'Clan Standard BA' being a step-down, and the Elemental II being either a very niche role unit or a disappointment, so went back to the drawing board and created a true upgrade to the original 'Toad'. Except that all of them had long since felt a bit of disgust over the 'Toad' moniker, and deciding on being snarky, in that they created a 'Toad' that eats other 'Toads', and the most well known one on Terra is the North American Bullfrog.

Identical movement, jump, and armor to the original, but swapped the original's standard small laser for a micro pulse laser. Same damage and range, but far superior accuracy, and for a lot less mass. So much so, that the SRM2 backpack is upgraded to an AdvSRM2 (2 shots), the Battle Claw is upgraded to a vibro version, and it gains a second AP modular mount.
