I'm actually not mad that its not Starscream, mainly because when Starscream was introduced in the original Bay film, he wasn't his iconic colors then either. Most of the complainers seem to have forgotten that. Even as a recolor, the F-22 doesn't look right with Starscream's iconic coloration. I just hope the toy for Blitzwing actually looks like a decent jet and not a flying bunch of boxes in the form of a jet like Starscream or the SR-71 Jetfire.

The masterpiece series shows you can make accurate alt-modes. Cars seem to be easier than jets however. Something about aerodynamics. Its not difficult for them to actually design a transforming toy that can match screen transformation. The macross designer actually does test builds from legos for the Valkeries he designed for example.

They can do both. Masterpiece collection proved that. It's just going to be expensive to own. The "standard" quality toy won't look so good. (They have so many classes of Transformer toy I don't try to keep track anymore.)

The movie legends class was decent for accuracy and price for the first 2 movie toy batches. The following movies barely had any worthwhile releases though.

Bayformers are blocky?! Certainly not compared to G1...

The Bays were so spiky and wiry when they first came out, I had doubts about their visual appeal...

(in hindsight I should have had more doubts about the director, but oh well)

They are made out of Legos. It's a little known fact that the CGI budget actually went towards boosting the human actors' emotional range. The Transformers were all stop-motion, and they used incomprehensible fight scene choreography to disguise that. ;)

I was always irked we never saw any of the other "JET" decepticons, like Dirge, Skywarp, Thunder cracker, Ramjet etc..

This trailer makes me angry for some reason. I'd pretty much lost interest after three, (which I felt wrapped things up well enough), redboxed Four because I had nothing better to do that night, and didn't even bother with five.

Now they have the audacity to throw all those G1s and draw me back in? Curses, I say curses. I was out! Why do you have to pull me back in?

I'm going to be really annoyed with myself if this movie is crap.

Is he, though? I mean really? The scene around him doesn't look like anywhere on Earth. It could just be a flashback. In fact, a lot of these flashes of old school transformers might just be brief scenes meant to draw us in.

That is exactly what they are. The movie is about Bumblebee on Earth. The scenes with the G1 Transformers on Cybertron appear to me to be flashbacks only, for storytelling purposes. It could also be a part of a prologue. They still get points for making them recognizable.

Agreed. I'm fully expecting that those scenes will just be memories or a prologue to explain why Bee is on Earth...but man, they look good...

There's also the fact that followups to the Bumblebee movie will find it easy to use pre-made CG assets, so we might get to see them again in sequels.
