Cyberpunk 2077 Computer RPG
« on: 15 June 2018, 11:21:03 »
So there a new gaming slowly making it's way though development.

Based on the works of William Gibson. Retro-Future Crime game.

This article talks about it.

I think i played the actual pencil-paper rpg version of this.  It looks good.  Though there some comparison to GTA, but it may be more different than it is to the ye olde-sandbox video game.

What you folks think?

Deeply interested and the previews and opinions confirm my interest. That it's by the Witcher developer gives me more confidence that this one will be a good one.

By far the most interesting thing I saw announced at E3 this year.

Also confirmed but not really stated much is that the PC is just a generic standin - you get full character creation, so it's not just Adventures Of Thatguy.

Probably released in 2020.....

Those who played the tt version will get this.

Looks fantastic, and for me might even be a pre-purchase, which is not something I do lightly. Normal practice is to wait for a sale.

One Peter Molyneux used to say the same. Then Microsoft issued deadline, and Lionhead Studios had to get the game (Fable) ready & done or they would lose funding. Time ran out and number of promised features were left out of the game. I can imagine many other game developers started with such high ideal, then ran out of time & funds and had to get the game out in order to get income. And thus gamers bitch & moan about unfinished games riddled with bugs and missing important features.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights errant, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Molyneux made enough promises that he'd never be able to deliver all of them on the XBox, no matter how much time and money he was given.  He simply did not set realistic expectations for his games and was consequently never able to deliver on his promises.
